On Pop!_OS 19.10 if you try to install fahcontrol deb file, Eddy just mumbles something about Python2 and fails to install it. It's because on newer versions of Ubuntu and Debian python-gnome2 is no longer included, so apps written with it won't work. This is a tutorial that supposedly fixes the issue, but with that much hassle maybe it's easier to just stick with web control (it can also backfire and break something): https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?p=311082 Until they make another client, this is what it is.

This is old but FAHcontrol doesn't work on Ubuntu for some reason. In case anyone else has this problem, use web control: https://client.foldingathome.org/

Pop!_OS is my go-to Linux distro, like Ubuntu everything just works but quite often it's more up-to-date than Ubuntu and has support for newer hardware (since System76 makes computers). A lot of people hate on Gnome and I really don't know why, it's really useful and handy to navigate, also easily upgradable. If people weren't so used to Windows it would probably be considered more intuitive than Mate or Cinnamon.

I haven't used a new laptop in a while, but can't you just pull out the battery and run with the charger plugged in? Excuse my ignorance if I said something stupid, it was possible on my older laptop.
