  1. @CWALD, I'm using them both for gaming and 3D rendering/CAD, so I want to minimize the trade-off. If it's too much of a hassle I'll submit to past me's poor choice of motherboards and perhaps look for a new one (it's now 7 years old, although still decent enough for me). The idea of using USB cables does seem like a nice hack. I'll check it out and see what gives Thank you!
  2. Hi, I added a second double slot graphics card and now I would actually like to use a PCIe slot that is stuck behind the coolers for a SATA expansion card. For this I presume it's obvious to resort to a PCIe extension cable, but I cannot seem to find one that fits behind the coolers. In other words, I'm looking for a design that turns 90DEG as close as possible to the onboard slot, so that it can fit between the onboard slot and the coolers of the graphics card that's covering the slot. To make it even more interesting, the cable should also be able to bend sideways, go around the other graphics card and then go down so that the slot at the end of the cable can be placed right under the main board. I imagine a flat cable is not ideal at all for this scenario, unless I would wrap it over the graphics card, making it look rather clumsy and potentially negatively impact airflow. Are there any viable options for this case? Also, will these cables negatively impact the speed of the SATA connections? I'm going to mount mechanical HDDs, not high speed SSDs.
