  1. i know they have thought through. I am just saying, I, would appreciate it. I think a benefit of amazon is that you can use their fulfillment, if they can ship their small items in bulk to amazon and use amazon to do last mile and fulfillment it might be worth it. edit: I am sure its very expensive, logistically, to ship an order of just a sticker pack, or a bit set for ltt. but it would be a way to sell some of those likely lower volume items that people likely skip unless they already happen to make a big order.
  2. Was just thinking, would be nice to get bit sets, the extension shaft for the screwdriver, or other small add-on items on amazon. Seems like a good way to snag a few extra dollars from someone who might otherwise skip an item like that, but then may grab it later. I don't really want to pay all this shipping for a bit set, so I end up waiting until I may buy something else with it, in the case of ltt stuff, its not like I am buying a new screwdriver every weekend, so it is usually a long time between. Just a thought.
  3. I do not recommend watching video guides for things like this, they quickly become outdated, and most sources for videos do not follow the practices established by the teams creating the mods and tools.
  4. computers get hot. is there an eco mode switch on the PSU? if so, you can try turning it off to see if the fan comes on. if the fan is never ever spinning, its probably time to replace the psu. like @Chapunna said.
  5. yes, make sure you install cfw on emunand. do it at your own risk if you do it correctly, slim to none, however, just like any type of modifications, you do it at your own risk, and your ability to read and follow instructions is critical. the guide that others have posted is comprehensive, so if you follow the guide precisely you generally will be fine. I would suggest reading through the guide 2-3 times and making sure you comprehend each step, what is being accomplished and why. understand the differences between nand types, and what you are actually installing on your device. if you have a release switch, the biggest risk is going to be going into RCM mode. When I first did it years ago, i didn't have a 3d printer and it was quite new so the jigs were not as widely available as they are now. I bent a paperclip and while it worked, it slightly scratched up the joycon slot. if you get a jig for a few dollars it will work very consistently. Once you are done with the mod you can use rekado if you have an android phone and usb c cable and you won't need to use the jig anymore.
  6. Seems like you have your answer here, why upgrade if your workload doesn't require it.
  7. either spiderverse, or They Cloned Tyrone, its a toss up for me.
  8. I've probably seen both Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the dead 20 times each. but for whatever reason World's End just doesn't have the same juice to me.
  9. I get pixel phones. Which I know is antithetical to your point, but I don't think there is a way around it. the pixel 6a is $349 and has security updates through mid 2027.
  10. does it crash without visualv running? That is a complete graphics overhaul mod, so your assumption that it won't have an effect is likely misguided. what are the actual errors? are you playing it through steam? if so have you tried the 'verify integrity' tool that steam has to fix corrupted files? what troubleshooting steps have you attempted so far? if you are getting memory errors, have you checked your available memory? (are you running out) remove variables (mods, other running programs, etc) and see if it crashes, if it doesn't, then add those variables back in one at a time, and do a full test (play the game for atleast 1.5x the time it was taking to crash before) to see which thing is causing the error. Also, post error logs.
  11. https://www.lttstore.com/products/deskpad?variant=39449420562535 specifically the 1500x700mm. they have been out of stock for i think over a year if not longer, and it seems like the newer designs don't have multiple sizes anymore. would be nice to update the store page to remove the sizes that aren't coming back so I know what I can reasonably expect will be available size wise.
  12. to add, power supplies also have an efficiency range, so oversizing the power supply is common when the load is generally constant and known. The efficiency of a power supply actually changes based on the load. Usually it is only a range of a ~5%, across 20%-100% loads, depending on the power supply (switch mode power supplies are really good) That being said if you want to calculate the power draw of a component, you need to consider the efficiency of the power supply, as that can have as much as a 30% (or more if using really cheap products, or linear power supplies) difference between drawn power and output power. a 30 watt power supply may actually be drawing as much as 40 watts at 100% load. usually switch mode power supplies run most efficient around 50% load, too low of a load and they start dropping efficiency again.
  13. this is a great resource! I am definitely leaning towards just replacing the case with a better design. unfortunately, it is seriously such an absolute hassle to work in this case that it gives me buyers remorse looking at it sometimes. I may post a picture here when I crack it open to put this hba in.
  14. Mostly its that I am buying more on a pretty regular schedule lol yea I have already found some better options after digging! missed that!
  15. Would it be possible to use hba -> 8086 cable -> usb/PCIE card & sas expander in second case -> to drives? so then any cheapo case would work. edit: something like this ebay link? $350 with trays and what appears to be existing sas expanders/ backplane included (don't care about the included drives)
  16. That would probably solve my scenario, but the price seems pretty steep. $500 for a used case without any trays (from my researching thay are about $10-15 each so add another ~$250) Is that what you would say is a pretty standard price?
  17. i don't care if I have to shutdown the machine. I don't need hot swap or anything like that. What I don't like doing is having to do is pull the server out of the rack, remove panels, unbolt the carriage for the drives, pull all 7 (plus more in the future) drives out, balance them on top of the case, just to service one drive. Additionally, the drives plus sata + power cables makes the case really tight, and they completely block the two intake fans into the case, it's fine with <4 drives. but it quickyl becomes unmanageble (when I say block, i mean they literally touch the front fans) this is the case: The green part is the drive bay, it is bolted in and a full carriage, so the top part doesn't just come off, you have to pull the whole thing out, with all of the drives inside, I have almost dropped it like 5 times already haha. I plan on having around 22 drives in all, which already exceeds the max the case can handle, and realistically it can't even handle the 14 it says. What makes you say this? edit: it isn't so much about speed or quick access, it's that this case makes it actually dangerous to the hardware to manage it, you have to kind of bang around the carriage to get it in and out. editedit: with more drives I am also running into the issue of available sata power connection. I am already running one startech 4x cable extender, I don't want to keep piggybacking the connectors.
  18. can you say why you you don't seem to like crashplan? or did you just mean in a general way to research different options
  19. on unraid I use urbackup to backup indiviual computers around my house to the unraid server. I then have a crashplan subscription for 1 device that I use to backup the urbackup files to the cloud. this gets you: local files on device backed up to second device locally (fast recovery) backed up to cloud (robust, but slow to recover) which satisfies bare minimum of 3-2-1. the crashplan sub is $10 + the cost of my server.
  20. So I am looking to expand drive capacity on my home server. Currently I have a rack mount case with 14 drive slots. however they are internal, hard to manager and require me pulling the server out taking the top cover off, removing screws, and pulling the whole drive bay out to service just one drive. So I want to change that. however in my research it gets pretty confusing. system is unraid and currently using all 6 motherboard sata ports and I am about to install an HBA. I plan to move all the current drives to the hba. I am ok with keeping some drives in the case, specifically the solid state drives and will likely have some nvme drives soon for cache that will be direct attached to the motherboard. However I would like to move all spinning drives to an external enclosure with front access, rack mount. Where I get confused is what device I actually need. I can run HBAs that have outside facing sas connectors so that solves the problem of getting the connectors out to the other device. But a lot of what I see are actual servers, as far as I understand all I need is the drive slots, and something that splits out the sas appropriately (backplane?) and some way to power the devices. If someone could point me in the direction of what I actually need here it would be great and if i explained this poorly let me know and I will try to refine my question. EDIT: I should mention the server itself is all consumer hardware, so there is no native sas multiplexer or anything.
  21. I work in software development and (recently) started a new job at a company that does 'content' (recurring education) and I and my family members have access to the entire catalog, as well as partnered companies, like linkedIn Learning. It would be foolish to not give your employees access to the content that they produce. walling your employees from the final product creates dissonance and a crew of people that don't know the product they are creating. edit: When I started, they encouraged me to find things on the platform that interested me and use them so I could become more familiar with what I am working on/around/with.
  22. I don't think the hackers care. they just want a channel with tons of subscribers so they can blast their scam out there.
  23. I guess I just don't really consider youtube to be a music streaming platform so I assumed when people said youtube it was implied to be yt music.
  24. yt music uses the opus codec which is very very good. it may be a lower bitrate than spotify, but the quality is very high. Opus pretty much outperforms every streaming / compression oriented codec outright. http://listening-test.coresv.net/results.htm
