  1. The purepower 11 400W is actually 65$, the semi-modular version is 73$.
  2. I can get the Corsair cx450m around 62$ while the purepower 11 400W is 73$. If you say the be quiet is better i can spare 11$.
  3. Hi guys, So i need to replace a PSU in an old system : i5 2400 with no dedicated GPU (it's only used for some lightweight browsing/word/excel and so on). The system only consumes around 200W or so but low wattage good quality PSUs are not so common. I decided that maybe i should get a bigger one (400-500W) and maybe use it in a few years if i decide to upgrade the system. Also i figured that if i get a bigger one the fan will be quieter which is an advantage for me. I don't plan to spend more than 60$. Do you have any recommendations ? I was looking at Corsairs CX450M but i heard that bequiet and evga also have good offerings.
  4. Hi, So i just ordered the "Sleep is for pussies" hoodie from teespring. I ordered the Small Size but i'm not sure about it. I'm not really sure about the measurements. My height is 1.77 meters, weight 73 kg. I usually wear M size, but i'm east european and i heard that the north american sizes are bigger. What are your experiences with the sizes ? What do you recommend ? Thank you
  5. Hello everyone, So i just build a new system with my friend Asus x99-a, 5820k, AMD R9 390, 32 GB DDR4 RAM The problem we have is that the PC gets this blue screens out of nowhere (i attached photo) SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION Those white dots lead me to believe that we may have some issue with the GPU but i don't know.. What do you guys think ? Thank you
  6. @typographie I don't see any testing done in the video . The problem is, that sure, if money doesn't matter, you drop 5k on a Quadro and you will get the best experience...but if money is a problem ( in the real world it is, especially for students who model in 3d) should you get a 980ti or a weak (gtx 750 based) Quadro for the same money... I don't want information that i already heard before, i want testing, i want a video in which Linus, Luke or whatever takes a system and compares the performance of GTXs cards agains Quadros in 3d programs Very Simple
  7. I honestly think that this topic deserves a video .I know that the quadro should be better but nobody seems to test this except people who want you to buy quadros (Nvidia)
  8. @OfficialJsP I get that, i don't want marketing bullshit, i want the real world numbers tested properly I feel like this should be tested .While the specifications and double precision floating point should matter, the sheer chip power superiority of the GTX (for the same price) should make a difference in the other direction . Lets not judge chips so much on their specifications Real World Test Needed
  9. We all have heard stories of these beastly gods, named Quadros, who came from another land far away to make our GTXs look bad... But is this actually true ? I mean, are they really so much better for 3D Rendering/ Editing and so on ? We all know by now that from a hardware perspective Quadros are much worse performers than GTXs cards, but the word on the street is that some magic drivers make them move much faster. . . OK But how much faster ? Can a Quadro (with its magic drivers) beat a similarly priced GTXs superior hardware ? Well... Why don't we test it, Linus ? I feel like this is a topic shrouded in mystery, because there are a lot of statements for and against Quadros but very few reputable tests to prove it. I want a video, with real world benchmarks and hordes of graphs. Someone really needs to look into this, i think the results will be surprising. If you are interested in this please, lets make this Happen Thank you
  10. He currently has a laptop with a 4710HQ and GTX 860m(4GB), and the thing that bothers him is the slow rendering. From the GPU perspective there doesn't seem to be much of a problem.
  11. Hello guys, So a friend of mine needs a PC for 3d rendering in programs like 3ds max, arhiCAD and so on (he is an architecture student). He uses the CPU to render and the GPU to move around in his project from what i understand. The budget is not fixed but we considered 2000$ as the absolute maximum, but this price is stretching it pretty hard and he would consider it only if the performance gain is significant. So we came out with 2 basic builds... First of all i have a question, when it comes to ddr4 how much does the frequency & CAS matter in real world performance? I mean it should matter, but i rarely see anyone saying this ram is much better than that RAM nad i even heard linus saying "Just get the color you want" (storage is already covered) 1 CPU : Intel 6700k CPU Cooler : EVO 212 Mobo: Asus z170-A RAM: 16 GB dual channel DDR4 memory GPU : Asus Gtx 970 Strix Power supply : Corsair RM550W (fully modular) Cost : around 1100$ 2 CPU : Intel 5820k CPU Cooler : EVO 212 Mobo: Asus x99-A RAM: 32 GB quad channel DDR4 memory GPU : Asus Gtx 970 Strix Power supply : Corsair RM750W (fully modular) Cost: aroun 1450$ What do you think ? I am also open to suggestions of other builds for 3d rendering. Thanks
  12. @HydraGaming well, i was planning to buy a graphics card later, like in 4-5-6 months or so ..i think i can do without gaming for that time. I also gonna keep my gt650m laptop...so i will be fine, the i7 is a must on my list I forgot to mention that is have a 250Gb SSD ready for the build. Also i will game at 1080p max (thats my monitor)
  13. Well i got some money but i dont intend to spend them all on the build. Considering there is no graphics card included i figured 1000$ should be confortable. But i'm open to more expensive suggestion..
  14. Hello everyone, I'm planning to make my first built, i had a lot of PCs before but this is the first time i will put one together myself. After years of watchin linus and other youtubers put systems together it finally came to the point i put one together by myself. Currently i have a laptop and my old pc is long gone (so i don't have any parts that i could reuse or something). The build has 2 purposes, the first is for college work (computer science stuff) and second is for a little gaming (but i don't game that much lately) so i don't plan to invest in a dedicated graphics card just yet (maybe in 6 months or so) . I need some advice for some stuff : Case I really like the simple design of fractal design r5 case, i kind of hate that whole on the side i think it look terrible..so i will go with the windowed version maybe. Would the windowed version sacrifice a lot on the silence department ? Also what other cases would you recommend in this price range ? Processor I want to go with an i7..for the moment my only option seems to be the 6700k From what i know the 6700k support both dd3 and ddr4...but can it do that on the same motherboard ? Also..should i go dd3 or ddr4 ? RAM How do i pick it ? I hear linus in some video : just go with the color you want and you should be fine. I also saw a table that took in consideration CAS + frequency and found what the best combinations Motherboard There are a lot of crazy motherboards with "laser pointers and rockets and stuff" But i kinda know i dont need all that stuff. I just need the motherboard to not bottleneck the rest of my configuration and have decent audio. What should i look out for ? I like to consider myself really informed in this kind of stuff but i dont wanna miss anything out. Budget : 1000 $ +- 150 ( i think is pretty ok considering there is no graphics card) I can spend more but i wouldnt mind spending less. Thank you
