  1. For my money, I'd probably get the 5600 instead which normally retails for 285 AUD but was recently as low as 256 AUD due to a coupon sale. You'd get 95% of the performance in gaming workloads. But if building completely new, the 12400F is worth considering as mentioned above as you should/might be able to do an in-socket upgrade to raptor lake (13th gen) later down the line. The platform cost should should bring the costs to similar prices most likely as the cheaper CPU would cancel out the more expensive motherboard. 2. I'm not sure what's happened as it didn't exhibit the same behaviour earlier during the sprint but for the last 2 nights, GPU folding has failed on me overnight and uninstalled the AMD GPU drivers to boot. I've been folding a 6800 XT undervolted (1000 mV) with temps hovering around 64 Edge and 75 hotspot so I don't believe it's temp related. I was actively using my computer yesterday and it didn't show any failed WU nor did it reboot itself. But when I leave it on idle besides F@H it's failed and uninstalled the GPU drivers 3 times on 2 nights. I forgot to save a log but the only thing out of the ordinary I can remember was F@H stating that the WU had failed. I'll try to save a log the next time this happens but just initially would anyone know what might be the issue?
  3. Leopold and Varmilo are also worth having a look imo. They're available through Mwave and PCCG (both stores stock a pretty wide range of mechanical keebs). I've personally got a Leopold FC660C (which is the topre version of the FC660M) and the quality of the plastics and keycaps (which are dye-sub PBT) are top notch. They don't have as much "gamery" features (ie. RGB shine through) so if that's a non-negotiable then they won't fit the bill but they do nail the basics well. A Leopold board goes for around $159-$169 for a 65% or a TKL for example. Varmilo pickings are a bit slim at the moment, the only in-stock option fitting your budget is this one for $189. Another option that's bandied around a bit are the keychron boards which seem to go for around $109 - $129 on Mwave. Here's an 65% aluminium base, wireless example, or a 75% wireless example. And a TKL with RGB shine through for $99. I haven't used the ones you listed personally but I've seen good reviews of both so I don't think you'd go too wrong with either options too.
  4. If it's only to control RGB, OpenRGB might be an option worth exploring. It's meant to be a lightweight FOSS alternative that does support a range of Corsair products, but depending on your specific corsair components may not have as feature-rich functionality compared to iCue (or be more prone to bugs/glitches). Here's a detailed list of all the supported devices currently.
  5. Thinking of dabbling in linux now that you've mentioned Linux mint works a lot better than the other *buntu distros so I can use my windows install for gaming. Just based on the stock install of Mint 20.2, the kernel installed by default seems to be 5.4. Is it possible to just stay on 5.8 and not bother with upgrading it to 5.8? Also would the latest amd pro drivers on linux also exhibit the weird performance degradation as well or is it just better to install 21.10 drivers anyways?
  6. Thanks so much for the tip off! I'm now sitting pretty at 4M PPD for one of the better WU projects after I installed the old 21.3.1 driver. Would never have figured it out myself since it seems to run so counter to the usual notion that newer drivers usually improve things (at least for gaming).
  7. Recently upgraded to a RX6800 XT but I'm getting atrocious PPD numbers. According to F@H in the dark, I should be getting closer to 4M PPD but i'm only doing 2M PPD in Windows. I seem to be getting half the projected PPD across the 3-4ish projects I've folded so far. The most recent project that I'm working on for example is 18201 (Alzheimer's) which historically gave me alot of points when I was running a RTX 3070 (compared to cancer PUs at least) but the projected PPD is also halved. I initially thought it might be due to the undervolt, but when I go back to default the PPD more or less remains the same. Anyone know what might be happening here?
  8. Hi there, apologies for another one of these suggestions threads but I just wanted to get a 2nd opinion regarding my choices. I recently upgraded to a Sapphire Nitro RX 6800 XT I was initially deadset on the Corsair RM750X (2018) which I cant get for $165 AUD but I came across Aris' recent review on the Coolermaster V750 Gold V2 which he rated above the RM750X (2021) based on his relative performances chart. I can get the CM PSU for $149 AUD and they both have 10 year warranty. Would it still be worth springing for the RM750X or should I save the $15 AUD. As a left field option, I can also get a Super Flower Leadex III 750W PSU but it's $165 AUD too and only has a 7 year warranty or a Fractal Ion Gold 750W for $149 AUD (7 year warranty). Or would there be any other potential cheaper options to consider? Thanks for all your help!
  9. Thanks for putting that list of current sign-ups up. Just did a double check and realised I made a typo for my forum username. It should be: Forum username: Yoomes Bond Folding Name: Yoomes_Bond
  10. Same thing happened to me too on Edge. It was working perfectly a few days ago, even yesterday I think. I can access the web client no issues without the extension on firefox.
  11. For those who've specified COVID-19 work units, has anyone else been receiving cancer-related work units from time to time? Just recently noticed that's been happening to me over the last week or so. Is this setting just a preference prioritisation of work units rather than a hard selection setting? So I'm getting cancer related work units because COVID-19 work units have been running out? It used to be my F@H client would just idle if out of COVID-19 work unit instead of working on other types of work units.

  13. I've got 8GB of ram so it's not a problem. I'll be sticking with rosetta then. Thanks for the help!
  14. I've only got a measly quad core i5 4460 so it's not really going to make too much of a dent. Is it better if I just run Rosetta or would I make more of an impact if I bunker for the sprint event? I'm currently also bunkering some more of numberfield for the 5th throw as well.
