  1. Not but I generally trust quake players and also on the blurbusted forum they go pretty hardcore on this stuff.
  2. Well basically the blur issue with IPSs, and i've read some people complain about headaches somehow, due how the panels work compared to TNs.
  3. Should I wait for something better than what's out there? Current monitor is VG2401. I want to try IPS for better colors, however I would be dissapointed if it's a downgrade for playing Quake.
  4. On Quake 3 (well, QuakeLive) it's com_maxfps 250. For QW however, there is a very detailed guide, and basically the higher hz the better: https://www.quakeworld.nu/blog/140/the-theory-of-smooth-qw
  5. Looks like I will screw up the plastic in the process. Anyone knows where to buy decent stickers by any chance? I thought it would be easy to find an ASUS sticker with a black background.
  6. I mean for instance this monitor I would like to remove that "TUF GAMING" thing there on the base. I find it distracting, and it looks off my office, to have gaming stuff there. I like the specs tho so I don't want to stop buying it just for that. Is there a product to remove that type of writting? or do I just put a sticker on top? I was looking for a clean ASUS logo but I cannot find anything that isn't some dodgy aliexpress stuff.
  7. Anyone knows what's a better upgrade comming from an XG2401? I only play Quake 3 and QuakeWorld, and watch some tv series or movies. Here is where this monitor really sucks. I can't see half of what's going on in dark scenes. I was told TN is still king for Quake, so im not sure about these being IPS, but I was told these are better in all departments compared to my current one which im ok with Quake performance wise. So which one should I buy? OLED is out of the question, I want 24-25" and I don't want to gamble with RMA due burnin and whatnot.
  8. I have a question about this ASUS one: Almost the same monitor released twice, I don't get it. Anyway, is this one the best gaming IPS panel under 27"?
  9. Well im not sure how irrelevant these specs are, if any expert can check in, but it seems pretty weird how there's 2 monitors with similar specs.
  10. https://www.displaydb.com/compare/asus-rog-swift-pg259qnr/asus-rog-swift-pg259qn What was the point here? they released these two together, and it seems to be exactly the same monitor, except some irrelevant changes. What's the idea? and what should I buy in any case?
  11. Im willing to spend in an OLED monitor, if it beats both TN and IPS in all departments, but the thing is, 27inch im not sure if it will be too big. Perhaps I could configure the games in a way that has a dark corner around the image, as seen here: I already do this in QL since I started using 24inch monitors, and with an OLED, the corners would finally be full black, which is less distracting.
  12. I was looking at Quake pros monitors and seems they using TN, why is that? rapha: Alienware AW2518H toxic: Asus PG258 cypher: BenQ XL2540 cooller: BenQ XL2540 Perhaps this information is outdated? I was then looking at someone with unlimited money that also has competed in FPS games like xQc, he's using this: ROG Swift PG258Q Which is also a TN monitor. The only guy I would trust to be knowing what they are doing not using a TN panel is this guy: https://liquipedia.net/arenafps/K1llsen And he's using an IPS panel: ASUS ROG 360 Hz PG259QN So I may pick up this one. If he's using it for Quake, that's a guarantee it's sharp, and since it's an IPS, im assuming a massive improvement in image quality compared to my current monitor.
  13. What about ghostin on the OLED? https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/27gr95qe-b The LG 27GR95QE-B is a fantastic gaming monitor that combines a fast 240Hz refresh rate with the incredible picture quality of an OLED. It's a great choice if you want the best of both worlds in terms of picture quality and a smooth gaming experience, but there are also some drawbacks to it. The matte screen coating doesn't look as premium as other OLEDs, and there's some inverse ghosting with fast-moving objects. Also, i've compared the xg2402 (couldn't find the xg2401 in rtings but im assuming it's similar) to the best IPS panel I could find at 25'' and the xg2402 has some better measurements in some areas such as: Total Response Time: 6.9 ms ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM Total Response Time: 8.6 ms So how come the old Viewsonic beats this monitor in total response time?
  14. 27 inch is innecesarily big for me. 24 seems to be a decent sweet spot. About IPS, I remember reading that they aren't still as good as TN for fast paced gaming like Quake. So are they finally good?
  15. I only play fast paced FPS games, mostly Quake Live, and sometimes I play some Doom wads, I enjoy low input lag and high refresh rate gameplay, however, I also enjoy being able to watch a movie, or play some single player game once in a blue moon, and these experiences suck on my current monitor, ViewSonic XG2401, because the dark colors are just not there. When I look at a dark place, it's washed off, it must be the backlight or whatever the technical name for that it is, but this was the best I could find for fast paced FPS games back then. What im asking now is, do we have something that is at least as good as XG2401 fast FPS wise but with improved colors, or are we still stuck in this insanity era of post-CRT monitors where you have to pick a side: either low input lag, no ghosting and high refresh rate but shitty colors, or sucking for fast paced games but good colors? I remember some OLED stuff being announced but the monitors were too big and some people claimed pixels may blow up pretty fast or something. So where do we stand now?
  16. Still hate the fact that you can't make the images bigger.
  17. Bought this to weight food on the kitchen and the stainless steel has some marks on it, anyone knows what it is? The box was like a bit opened. Im assuming this was due transport movement and not because someone opened it. I think it was sealed in a plastic. But it has these weird marks on it. Amazon will take until febrary next year to return the money. Also, I find it interesting it says nowhere in the box that it's made on China, only if you open the instructions booklet. Is this legal? isn't there a law that forces them to say where it's made in the box?
  18. im aiming for meta smooth VR with the best settings possible on my next update im probably going to wait for the valve index 2 and 5000 series, that will be the sweet spot imo
  19. I was going to update from my 1660 super to start with VR (I have a 3950X CPU which is enough) but I see the new nvidias are those type of insane power hungry huge monsters that get rushed into the market to be refined in the iteration, that is smaller, less noisy, more efficient. Is this going to be released next year or 2024?
  20. Luckily I think this BIOS has a way to save presets and load them again.
  21. Im going to flash to latest version and see if the CPU clock issue is solved. Hope I don't lose my fan speed profiles and nothing blows up.
  22. It's the same file, same checksums. A problem with the CPU: The fix requested in there doesn't work. Switching between 2 energy profiles fixes it but this is annoying since everytime I boot I have to double check if the CPU speed works.
  23. I have this one: My BIOS version is really old, I want to update it but on the website I see there is 2 sections, Rev 1.0 and Rev 1.1/1.2: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X570-AORUS-PRO-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X570-AORUS-PRO-rev-11-12/support#support-dl-bios How do I know which one do I need? Or it's the same files? Then do I just download the latest version? Edit: They are the same file, they have same checksums, however on the website it says: Checksum : 9491 What is this 9491 from? it doesn't match any of the checksums I've gotten: CRC32: D7D52A2D CRC64: CDEB85EDBBB71A55 SHA256: E65610347FB9FD675301F2B8C756AA938125010EC652755D36604DAB4C5E6F6A SHA1: 0440A4007979DEF135E66F79DFC19F5107F58D2F BLAKE2sp: 2756C313421EF14991F46D50599E22166D5007C9425D66DBA8E80BD15B577473
  24. is there any lightweight open source software that can simulate the stuff you see on Linux? something like this: I would like to know because my 3950X sometimes has the wrong CPU speed for some reason and now im paranoid if it's running at 1ghz and I don't want to double check, so while I fix it I would like to have this enabled.
  25. Not sure why it wasn't working on Firefox, Librewolf solved it.
