    TV vs PC monitor

yeah those are brands i have never heard of but i am betting they are knock offs or copied designs from american companies. just by a guess and not trying to be insulting.

    LCD for AIO

not sure if this belongs in CPU cooler, displays or what as its not asking for help in selecting something, just looking for general information. what i want to know is has anyone here bought one of the corsair icue link AIOs and tried to put the LCD upgrade onto it? the site says you cant but 2 videos from corsair show you can.

    TV vs PC monitor

there literally is no difference at all. they say they 120 is a better refresh rate and therefor its better but they lie. we all know its the RGB that adds the frames to win games.

    TV vs PC monitor

so what was the TV you had vs the one you have now?
  5. i hear toothpaste does really well. LOL but being serious. thermal grizzly is what i have been told is one of the better ones.havent really tested any myself as i have not removed my thermal paste from 5 years ago and my CPU temps are around 30-40 at the most.

    TV vs PC monitor

not sure if you are joking or not with the emoji but this is actually what i do except my TV is from like 10 years ago so its not 4k but looking into getting a 4k one soon if i can get a great deal .

    TV vs PC monitor

why? you cant say it all in one breath? well thanks. to tell you both, i have been thinking about replacing my TV for a while now as its only 1080p with something that is 4k capable so pretty much nothing is off the table. and not that it matters but this is my current and upgrade build specs so it will be either using HDMI or DP cables so dont think i need SCART. my current build CPU: intel i7 8700k motherboard: MSI z370 gaming plus GPU: EVGA 2070 super FTW3 ultra+ RAM. corsair vengence RGB 32GB storage. samsung 970 evo plus 500g for OS, 2TB external CPU cooler: cheap prebuilt CPU cooler (i know, but i dont OC) case: corsair obsidian 1000D super tower fans: corsair QL 120s and 140s PSU: EVGA supernova 1000G+ the new build CPU: AMD ryzen 9 7950x3d motherboard: ASUS ROG strix b650e-f gaming wifi GPU: EVGA 2070 super FTW3 ultra+ RAM. Gskill flareX5 64GB storage. samsung 970 evo plus 500g for OS, 2TB external CPU cooler: icue link h170i RGB case: corsair obsidian 1000D super tower fans: corsair QL 120s and 140s PSU: EVGA supernova 1000G+
  8. can a PC monitor be used as a TV screen? i know, i know "what the hell is wrong with you?" but i am limited on space as my PC is in my bedroom so i have been using my TV as my PC monitor since it has the HDMI ports and the cable box my TV gets the signals from is HDMI too but the TV is limited to 60hz as its kind of an older TV and even with new ones being 120hz and some rare ones of 144hz if you are willing to pay for it but can i do the reverse and use a PC monitor that would have better refresh rate work as a PC monitor and my TV screen?
  9. true and i know they are not the only OS, there is apple if i wanted, linux and others but windows 11 came our and they have had some major issues causing blue screens and then them going "sorry, not our problem" as far as i know so for now i will just be keeping my current window 10 OS and just uploading it onto the new system specs to be replaced later
  10. well the OS is a duh because you will either have windows 10 as most do now or 11 which still has some issues if i am right so i will be sticking with my current OS.
  11. well i think so which is why i made this post. in my first one i posted the current build and what i will be changing. i just wanted to make sure i actually had everything so i can do the parts swap.
  12. gaming and browsing the internet. current resolution is 1080p non HDR because i am using a 43" TV as my monitor. yes i know, but my PC is in my bedroom so i am limited on space and i am looking at getting a new display soon.
  13. no i am not and i think you might have the wrong topic. i am just trying to make sure i have everything i need to upgrade my PC. i have the parts i am going to be upgrading but just trying to make sure i have everything
  14. well let me tell you a little story to give context. back on Jan 1st this year. i restarted my PC for an update and the internal hard drive failed. i asked around to everyone and every place i knew for a solution to the FLTMGR.SYS error that the blue screen of death was giving me but no one not even people who worked on PCs or in cyber security could give me an answer. so i just bought a cheap M.2 and hope that was it and it was. so with that and knowing that i have lost all my internal storage. i havent redownloaded anything other than the few cosmetic things i i had like corsairs icue and a few very low performance games just to keep me entertained while i got the money together for some upgrades. i do plan on switching from the external to another M.2 since i have 3 slots on this board but those will come later. i was just wondering if i needed anything else as a base line to get it up and running.
  15. well thanks. i will look into those but this is not my first PC build. i was just kind of drawing a blank within the last few hours and wanted to make sure i had everything. just kind of a brain fart moment.
  16. how is the case and fans ok you have to be joking. i know people joke about their cases being cardboard or they dont need any fans but i think those are kind of two things you have to have to keep the PC cool unless you are keeping it in a refrigerator or freezer. edited first post edited first post
  17. i know i am a complete ID-10-T for asking but what are the very minimum parts you need for a PC build? i am asking because i am double checking to make sure i have everything before i upgrade my pc. i have the CPU, motherboard, RAM, CPU cooler, case, fans, PSU, GPU and storage but am i missing anything? my current build CPU: intel i7 8700k motherboard: MSI z370 gaming plus GPU: EVGA 2070 super FTW3 ultra+ RAM. corsair vengence RGB 32GB storage. samsung 970 evo plus 500g for OS, 2TB external CPU cooler: cheap prebuilt CPU cooler (i know, but i dont OC) case: corsair obsidian 1000D super tower fans: corsair QL 120s and 140s PSU: EVGA supernova 1000G+ the new build CPU: AMD ryzen 9 7950x3d motherboard: ASUS ROG strix b650e-f gaming wifi GPU: EVGA 2070 super FTW3 ultra+ RAM. Gskill flareX5 64GB storage. samsung 970 evo plus 500g for OS, 2TB external CPU cooler: icue link h170i RGB case: corsair obsidian 1000D super tower fans: corsair QL 120s and 140s PSU: EVGA supernova 1000G+
  18. me? well i was mainly talking about the pre-applied thermal paste that some AIO/CLCs and air coolers come with. i was wondering if you guys just put the cooler on leaving the paste as it is or do you remove it and either put something else on. but with what i read, its personal preference if you do or not. so with this, what do you guys think of corsairs xtm70 paste?
  19. well most people dont KNOW its old but it is applied at the factory, covered up to protect it, shipped to wherever and then sits on a shelf for how ever long until someone buys it. could be hours or in most cases weeks to months later.
  20. with that, what do you think of the AM5 secure frame by thermalright?
  21. i figured you two were but if Kryonaut is better at subzero then it would probably be better to use on aircool or CLC/AIOs for the latest intel CPUs with how hot they are running. but with all of what you have said, i am looking into all of them to see what i like and what i think will work best for me and to be honest, most of it will as i done really have any plans to stupidily overclock everything where needing LN2 and a 1000W+ PSU on each part will be needed.
  22. with the ways you guys are going back and forth, i can kind of see needing Kryonaut for the 13900k CPUs with them running hot.
  23. thanks everyone. i just went to a micro center and bought the asus ROG strix b650e-f gaming wifi board with a ryzen 9 7950x3d with 64GB of gskill flare x 5 RAM bundle and because of going from intel to AMD, my old CPU cooler that i admit is from a prebuild that is even older, will not work so i have been looking at all kinds of air coolers and AIOs/CLCs, some of which come with the paste already applied so i wanted info from people more informed than me if they remove the paste and put something else on because admittedly who knows how long that paste has been on that part before being bought and then installed.
  24. thanks guys. i will look into these and sorry for the past messages on my cyber security post. i was not having the best day and just really needed some validation in what i thought was right was correct which you guys went against me and it made me feel a little worse so i lashed out a little. i no longer deal with what caused that and i feel so much better now so thank you for putting up with me.
  25. i am not sure where this belongs as its not one specific topic but i would like to know two things for those willing to help. i know that some CLCs/AIOs come with pre-applied thermal paste on the CPU block. i would like to know 1. do you remove that paste and then apply whatever you want? and 2. if so what do you add? i know of corsair, thermal grizzly, thermaltake and some others but just curious.
