  1. Hi! After a lot of research, I have narrowed down the selection to the following three laptops. My bag was stolen in Madrid, Spain and I am buying a replacement from locals. Assuming I can get all three for about the same price, which one should I go for? The Zenbook seems to have the best CPU, but I really want touchscreen. So basically, is there one of the three that is superior of the bunch? I attached sample pictures and links to detailed specs. All three laptops are 1080p. 585 EUR HP Pavillion x360 14" i7-1065G7 https://www.dominiovirtual.es/ordenadores-portatiles/20611/258p6earabe/portatil-hp-pavilion-x360-convert-14-dw0027ns-i7-1065g7-8-gb-ram-tactil-0195122534424.html 550 EUR Portátil HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13.3" I7 8550u https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-Spectre-x360-13t-i7-8550U-FHD-SSD-Laptop-Review.289232.0.html 550 EUR Portatil ASUS ZenBook 14 Ryzen 7 3700U, Ram: 16GB RAM, https://laptopmedia.com/es/laptop-specs/asus-zenbook-14-um433da-a5025t/ Use case: School.
  2. Thank you for the suggestions!! I just checked the matebook with ryzen 5 is 850 USD and a bit overbudget for what it offers. I might stick with one of the 1080p options considering its just 13.3 to 14 inch. Also, I can get a zenbook duo last year's version for 1000 USD. Shoud I go for it or is the value still depleting? It has a intel chip and 1080p screen...
  3. Update: I guess I don't have to have a Ryzen 4000 series CPU, but just a thin and light with good battery life, good screen, sound quality, keyboard and touchpad. 4k or 2k strongly preferred.
  4. Hi! I am looking for a new laptop for work and for work only. Any help would be much appreciated!! Budget 600 USD, preferably used. Maximum 1000 USD. I am looking for a Ryzen 5 or 7; 4000 series touchscreen thin and light laptop with a good screen, sound quality, keyboard and touchpad. 4k or 2k strongly preferred. Use case is type documents on the go, watch YouTube videos, and remote into my gaming computers through LAN. Here are the ones I have looked at: Envy 15 (x360) Ryzen 5, 16:9 FHD, 450-500USD Zenbook 14 Ryzen 5, 16:9 FHD but smaller bezels, 500-600USD Yoga 6 13.3inch Ryzen 5, 16:9 FHD, 500-600 USD LG Gram, all Ryzen versions have 16:9 FHD while intel has 16:10. 500-600 USD Is there something better out there that I missed? Or would you suggest me to settle on one of those choices? All aforementioned prices are trade (recently sold) second hand price on eBay. I know the Huawei matebook 14 has all I want: 3:2 touch screen, Ryzen 5, thin and light, for 750 USD, but they are constantly sold out and way overpriced in USA.
  5. Hi all! I am here to seek recommendations on newish models of premium thin-and-light laptops. Here are the criteria: <1200 USD, good screen to bezel ratio - preferably 16-10, etc. Newish chipsets with good battery life. Thin and light. Backlit nice keyboard and large trackpad. Around 15inch. Perks like touchscreen, fingerprint sensor, or windows hello would be great bonuses. No apple products. That's it. Best if no dedicated graphics as I already have gaming laptop and desktop. The only purpose is to take around the campus and type documents. Absolutely no gaming or graphics needs. Any help will be much appreciated. My ideal setup would be a 13-15 inch iPad style thing with wireless low profile mechanical keyboard for example. Like the surfacebook 3, but thinner and preferably without dedicated graphics and uses newer chipsets like the later generation AMD CPUs
  6. I tried powering the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 HYBRID with external 12v supply, I got a message on the screen saying please power down and connect PCIe power connectors to graphics card. Still no luck getting it to post.
  7. Thank you for your reply! EVGA 750 B2 PSU, manufacured in 03/2017 I can power the 1080ti graphics card desperately with 1kw 12v power supplies it it is worth trying
  8. Hi, Any help is greatly appreciated! I am an electronics enthusiast but I am not a pro in building PCs. I built a desktop with Ryzen 1700x, 16Gb ram, SSD+HDD, 750WEVGA PSU, x370 killer motherboard, and a used 980 Ti. A week ago, it seems like the 980Ti overheated and burned out. I got instant black screen and It smelled like burnt resistor/PCB but I didn't see any magic smoke so I was not sure if it actually was the 980ti that has failed. The computer does not boot with the graphics card installed. Ryzen 1700x has no integrated graphics but the computer boots without the GPU and I can access it with TeamViewer(basically a remote desktop). Now the problem begins: After installing new 1080 Ti hydro, the boot retries about 8 times, during the entire process I got no fan, no pump, and no post on the 1080Ti. The LED does light up and the computer boots without the installed 1080ti. I can still remote access the computer through Teamviewer. I dont see the 1080ti detected in device manager. Things I have tried and did not help: Clear CMOS Uninstall all nvidea drivers in Win10 Trying 2 PCIE slots Restarting many times, with USB devices unplugged. Things I tried and got interesting effect: Plugging and unplugging the 12v VGA power supply after the computer is booted can often trigger the pump and the fan in the graphics card to turn on. But I dont see GPU detected in device manager. Reverse engineering the 12v VGA input pins of the 1080ti, all 12v rails are internally connected. 2 GND are reserved for detection for if the power cable is connected. All trigger requirements should be met. 12.5v voltage is present whenever the other part of the system is running.(This does not mean the overcurrent protection isn't tripped, though. I dont know and have zero experiance.) WHAT SHOULD I DO ? I can not access BIOS because teamviewer runs after win10 boots. CPU PCIE controller fried? Overcurrent? Old BIOS? Broken GPU? I feel like I'm about to die. Any reply is greatly appreciated including IDK, etc.
