  1. I recently bought an xfx r9 290, and I was expecting it to run at a maximum of 85 C and 70% fan speed. But when I stressed it it was running at 92C and 100% fan speed, which was loud. So i Bought some prolimatech PK-3, and I replaced my thermal paste (line method), now my temperatures are max or 84C and the fan speed tops out at 60%, which with my card is very quiet, I can't hear the fans over my quiet game volume. so to anybody who has high gpu temps, I would advise you to replace your thermal paste, I would use prolimatech PK-3 it's the best i've seen in benchmarks, much higher than arctic silver.
  2. I have a Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 tripod, but I'm not sure if I should get separate heads fro photo and video, or if I should go with their photo movie head. If I went with separate heads I would get the Manfrotto q5o54 magnesium ball head, and a manfrotto 502 fluid head. But If you think that the photo video head would have smooth pans and tilts then I would go with that for the convenience. I mostly do photo but I dabble in video a little, and I do want to start to more video work. I have a sony a7R but once I think my video skills are getting good enough I might get an FS7 to go with the a7R.
  3. I love the note 4's design but I hate touchwiz, I can just use the google now launcher, however I would prefer to remove any trace of touch wiz. I would prefer not to loose the functionality of the s pen. And don't want one that looks different than stock android at first glance. so same animations, setting layout, lockscreen, ect. I don't mind extra settings and stuff added though. If no such thing exists I will just deal with touch wiz and use a launcher.
  4. I'm not sure if this would work, but I was wondering if I could crossfire an xfx r9 290x 8gb, with a XFX r9 290x 4gb. The only thing I could see a problem with is the gpu's distributing vram equally,I think it may work but I feel like the 8gb might get cut down to 4gb.
  5. Phillips Downtown Review The Look and Feel The DownTown have a love it or hate it type of look, I personally love it however I wish I would have gone with the black and brown ones. The headband is made of a brushed aluminum band which has a silk wrapping and a thin foam layer for padding, Also there is a very thin hard foam under the metal band which I presume hides the cable. Next we have the ear cups which have a very interesting design for adjusting to your heads contours. It's also effective but that's for the comfort section. The outermost part of the earcup has a plastic disc with the words Phillips on it, under that is aluminum from the headband. next we have the interesting pivot design I was talking about a moment ago, which is connected with a slightly curved plastic disc with a cream colored ring around that says the words musicseal, I'm not sure what that is made of but it may seal in the sound more. now moving on to the inside, The ear cups are made of a cheap faux leather, but even though it's cheap it feel soft. In the center of the ear cup is more of that silk which feels super smooth against your ear. The rest I can just show you. The Build Quality I can't think of too much to say, which is odd for me. The build quality is more than I would have expected for a $150 pair of headphones. The only two complaints I have is the use of a cheap feeling cable, and the way the silk is held on the headband. Other than those two small things these are built to last. I should also add that the cable is anti tangle so that is a Plus. I can't scratch the aluminum, the leather has not separated from the silk so far, and the swivel is robust. I did rip the silk of the headband because I thought the L and R markings were button's so I pulled on them, but I was able to put the silk back on over it. Just a tip don't pull on the silk where the L and R markings are. Comfort Comfort is the second, or sometimes first important factor when Buying headphones. I will start by saying these are the first pair of supra-aural headphones (On Ear). So take what I say about this with a grain of salt. I think these are acceptably comfortable. I can wear them for 2 to 3 hours until i feel discomfort. which is about as good as my AKG K550's but nowhere near my Sennheiser HD 448 which I can wear for 10+ hours. The comfort is helped by the light weight, but other than that there's not much going for it. The earcup cushions are about a 1/4" thick, and the headband cushion is about 1/8" thick. overall they are moderately comfortable. Sound Quality Okay so as in the usual fashion I waited till the end for the sound quality. In short the frequency response is in the shape of a V, or your classic fashion headphone signature. Frequency response The highs are there, They however leave me feeling like i'm missing some of the instruments drag (how long a cymbal rings after it's hit). The main reason is the bass masks the high frequency a little. and the high frequency bleeds into the mids. which gives a distant sound, but not the kind of distance soundstage gives you. it just sounds like a software reverb for alley way. The mids as I said are masked by the highs which are masked by the lows, So vocals sound a little washed out and static (loss in dynamic range). there is an over emphasis on the instruments, which sounds like it may make these good at classical, but you would be wrong. There are still plenty of mid range frequencies in classical, which are just overwhelmed, by thundering bass drums and the brass section. The lows despite the name of the section it's not to sad here, the bass is very nice it has punch with plenty of volume, and I was shocked by the bass performance of these small cans. unfortunately the bass just couldn't get along with mids and highs and just suppresses them. the rest The soundstage is the but small, still it's better than no soundstage. These have decent clarity with minimal distortion at loud volumes, and they have excellent isolation for supra-aural headphones. but with all this said I'm not a fan of V shaped Signatures, and these fit under everything I hear with V shaped signatures. So if you are a fan of V shaped sounds then these might sound great to you, just not for me. The Conclusion Overall these are arguably stylish supra-aural headphones with good isolation and some sound stage, and suffer from the normal fashion headphone sound. but I can still feel comfortable recommending these to a fashion headphone user. who may be abusive to his/her headphones. 6. I'm getting data off of my aunt's hard drive, and I cannot figure out why it won't give me permission after I've already changed ownership of the whole drive. with my past experiences i've just had to change ownership and it will give me access. I know for a fact that the drive was never encrypted and it was a boot drive so it has windows formatting on it. please help, and thank you
  7. Well I always shoot in manual So I don't care about autofocus, I mostly do photography. I do plan on getting more lenses, but I will be fine with just a 50mm for now. I might just go with the sigma, if you could list all the lens brands you know of that could help me a lot.
  8. I'm planning on buying a sony a7 in the near future and was going to buy the body only and I mostly use 50mm currently so I want to get a fast lens but I'm not sure if I should go with the Rokinon 50mm f1.4 or the sigma 50mm f1.4. The Rokinon Has an E-Mount varient, but I can Get an adapter for the sigma if it's better. I know the Rokinon has Aperture control on the lens, I can't tell if the sigma does. I will be getting more lenses later but until I can buy more This will be my primary. Thanks
  9. you're welcome. They don't have the best isolation, people will be able to hear your music if your at 75% volume. But it won't be too audible to people around you so you shouldn't be asked to turn it down or anything.
  10. There are nice headphones available for cheap now. My most comfortable pair are my sennheiser hd 448, not the cheapest but still not too expensive. I haven't tried many super cheap headphones, but I do have a korean computer monitor (Achieva Shimian). and the quality is equivalent to a monitor three times the price. and from what I can tell the reason there are great cheap products available since the housing crash is because since then most all companies have outsourced to china, so now china is able to have better quality control and still pay there workers next to nothing.
  11. I took a short clip of a leaf on a tree as the wind from the storm blew it back and forth. I did the video with my hands so there's a fair amount of shake. I need advice for how to remove the shake, I tried warp stabilizer but it didn't work, all it did was move the background around the leaf. the shot was taken with a still camera and a moving subject, so I don't know how to remove the shake. Thanks
  12. I know the a7s is the god, I forgot to put the s, oops. Well looks like I am getting the a7. Should be a great upgrade from the Nikon d3100 I've been using. Any suggestions for great accessories for the a7. Thanks
  13. Thanks, I'm not 100% sure what you mean by suitable for the DS4 Fire, if you mean compatibility then yes these should be compatible because the DS4 Fire is all cherry MX. I've been curious do they cable actually change the sound, and if so what do they change, clarity, color, soundstage.
  14. I want to get a nice camera, i've been using my moms Nikon D3100 for awhile but I want something Nicer and that's mine. I love actually owning the things I use. So my question is which camera will be better for my situation. I want to experiment a lot with many different styles of photography, and I want to know which camera will be more "universal". I know the A7 is godly when It comes to low lightly, but I'm not sure if I'll need that. Also I do plan on doing plenty of video work. I know heard the cannon has a better codec but I'm not sure if I'm going to need that. Also if you can put A couple of lens suguestions with the camera you think is better.
  15. Thanks for the advice, I don't have a tripod, so I just laid the camera on my deck facing straight up, which would be why I didn't capture a tree line, I think I was using 100 ISO and the kit lens wide open, so 18mm at f3.5, I will try to use a delay on the shutter. I never thought about that. I did have the Exposure set to the maximum it could go which was 30 seconds. I should have set the ISO to maybe 800 or 1600, and shot for 10 seconds. I will watch some videos and figure out how to use the settings for long exposure.
