  1. Well I guess that'll be my purchase. Would love to grab the GA-970A-UD3P, with is 8+2 power phases, however the board does not exist in Australia, and can't be shipped here. Thanks for all the help though. PS: One more thing, would the Cryorig H5 be a better option than the 212?
  2. The power supply, as I think the rubber vibration dampeners are a really cool thing to add, and hopefully other companies will start doing it too
  3. What about the Asus M5A97 R2.0? Is it better than the Gigabyte? Only $6 more.
  4. $100 is a little bit more than a little. Would love an i5, but the benefits really aren't worth that.
  5. Yeah I know its pure luck. I'll cross my fingers when I buy Thanks for the feedback
  6. I didn't think you could get that out of a 970 chipset Thanks for reply though Certainly cemented my thoughts on buying this pair
  7. I'd be pretty happy with results like that.
  8. Hey all So I'm looking into buying a new cpu and motherboard for my system, and after posting on several forums this is the pair I've got: FX-6300 Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P Will this motherboard be able to handle overclocking? Using a Hyper 212, what kind of speeds can I expect? I'm kind of new to overclocking, so if someone could please give me a short explanation of how to actually do it, that would be wonderful. Thanks you all in advance.
  9. The 1866 stuff was both cheaper and the only one in stock. Don't even ask, the prices at MSY are retarded. But yeah it works and for the price nothing can beat it so yeah.
  10. Getting an i5, would be the better option. AM3+ is dead, weak cores. Yeah I know, but I will be selling this PC in about a year to a friend anyway, and buying another one. And another $50 is pretty significant for me.
  11. Hey all, Looking into upgrading my computer, because it still has an E8400 in it I recently threw in a 270, and trust me when I tell you, the bottleneck is real. So anyway, this is what I've come up with: CPU: AMD 8320 3.5GHz (4.0GHz turbo) Motherboard: ASRock 980DEF3-U3S3 Ram: Kingston HyperX Fury 8gb (4gbx2) 1866MHzz Blue All together this is $321, all parts will be bought from msy.com.au (I'm Australian). So I'm really just seeing if you guys can vouch for the mobo/cpu combo, or suggest something better for the same price. The Ram I really dont want to change, as in Australia this stuff is really cheap, and the reason its 1866 is because 1600 isn't in stock for some reason. I'm not really looking at overclocking, because I know that with any motherboard under 100AUD is just not good enough for it. As long as the motherboard doesn't have a problem with the cpu. Not really interested in an i5 as it will add a good $50 onto the price. Thanks in advance everyone
  12. http://linustechtips.com/main/uploads/profile/photo-111684.gif?_r=1413533622 'I respect the console' Hahaha but yeah, I figured that would be the case. The Pentium is an absolute beast for the price. Now all we need is an unlocked i3 and Intel will more or less control the market.
  13. Hey everyone So I recently upgraded like half of my computer, and my CPU is bottlenecking the hell out of the rest of my system. Theres only one answer to this problem. Upgrading! So pretty much the 3 CPU's that I am look at are: Intel Pentium G3258 Intel Core i3 4160 AMD FX 6300 Black Edition Both of the intel processors would be paired with an ASRock Z97 Anniversary. Surprisingly this is the cheapest full size ATX 1150 pin motherboard from where I will be buying, so thats why the i3 is paired with it. The FX will be paired with the ASRock 970-PRO3 R2.0. If I get the Pentium, I will grab a Hyper 212 Evo, to overclock it of course. So my questions are as follows. Which CPU would give me the best performance? Keeping in mind the Pentium will probably be clocked to 4.5GHz (Fingers crossed) If I get the 6300, would it be worth buying the 212 Evo and OC'ing it? Will the MoBo be able to do it? Also, I will be getting these upgrades around christmas. I will probably end up having this PC for a further 1-2 years before I upgrade. I wouldn't be asking this, but its really just a case of cores. I know an OC'd Pentium can beat the i3 in most applications, and the i3 is better in most things than the 6300 at the moment. So really, will the two cores on the Pentium be enough? Will the hyperthreading on the i3 provide an advantage in the next year? And will the 6 cores on the AMD side help it pull ahead, seeing the growing popularity of using more and more cores? This is more guesswork, but I know you guys usually are pretty good at guessing this stuff. Thanks in advance anyone! Patrick
  14. I love what nVidia has done with the 900 series. The amazing performance from cards running both extremely cool, and requiring a lot less power than previous gens. They're truly awesome!
