  1. Yeah, this has been a thing for a while now. I noticed it before as well. (Live in Europe so watching it live is not an option) Interestingly enough it seem the first hour and a half tends to be add-free. After that the adds start to pile on with the breaks being between 30 and 60 seconds and quite regularly. Then on the really long streams it feels like it's less annoying later on, but I never really measured it. I posted about it before and the consensus was that this is a forced YouTube thing, but never got an official reply from anyone at LTT.
  2. Yes, and this is what this is mostly about. The location had no internet at all and no provider was interested in putting any sort of connection to it unless the owner was willing to pay a huge amount of money. There is a right to be supplied with telecommunications services which is in place since 2021. This means that every household has the right to at least some form or affordable and usable internet. While I think the speed should be higher to be considered 'usable' in today's world, it forces the companies to provide a solution. So it's much better than nothing, and there is hope that once a solution has to be provided it wont be the minimum that was stated. I mean if you have to do the work you might as well do a semi decent job that wont be challenged in a few years again. I think we'll have to wait to see how it actually turns out, but at least it's a start...
  3. I never got mid-roll ads on any LTT video until recently. That included the 4+ hour WAN show recordings.
  4. That's the thing I would like to know. Not sure who best to tag for that though. Plus I'd love to know if it's just me or more people
  5. Because I am watching on my TV, and I don't mind supporting the channel as long as the ads don't get too annoying.
  6. Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I was wondering why I am all of a sudden get mid-roll ads in the WAN show (when not being live). Is that intentional? I thought LTT doesn't do mid-roll ads. It seems to be somewhat inconsistent, but I've noticed it before already but then had a free month of YouTube Premium which expired. Curiously enough today I also got multiple one minute long ad breaks which I cannot remember getting before. Anybody else getting ads during the WAN show now?
  7. He mentioned in the last WAN show he doesn't need his projector anymore, so I guess he is keeping it? But there should be a part 2 coming sometime, that should shed some light on it.
  8. There's not really a hard budget. She doesn't want to waste money but I think going a bit farther than needed right now so that it lasts longer would make sense. She is probably comfortable spending around 1.000€ on it. But only if it makes sense.
  9. Looking for a friend who wants a mostly office type laptop. Long battery life would be a big plus, she doesn't need a lot of GPU power, but she has two kids so I do see some light gaming at some point. (But it's going to be light, by the time they are old enough to do some real gaming a new machine will most likely be needed anyways) I was thinking about going with an integrated GPU, but not sure if that's really a good move. Really depends if that seriously busts down price and extends battery life if she just uses office applications. It doesn't have to be super cheap, but a good price/performance sweetspot would be appreciated. Have to admit I am kind of out of the scene so not sure what the best route to go is right now, so any tips would be highly appreciated.
  10. What a blast from the past. The similarities to the iPhones are actually pretty stunning, while it doesn't look like it has anything in common with it on a first glance, looking at it more in-depth shows that while Steve Jobs might have hated the product he sure didn't hate the concept... Also, great to see @Emily Young back in a video your facial expressions on Linus going all over the place where priceless!
  11. It has been mentioned multiple times that Luke tries to watch what he is eating right now because he is apparently trying to loose weight. So Linus offering him chips would be pretty counter-productive to that.
  12. There's a bunch of good and fun ones. Recently one who really stood out to me was Dan though. I love his appearances in the house videos. But Luke and Alex are also favorites of mine and Sarah had some really cool appearances as well. All in all I would love if there would generally be more variety in the main channels videos. It's not that I don't like Linus, but why not have others in the team take on more LTT videos?
  13. Interesting, now overall recoverability in a NAS is most likely not really an option for a single failed drive. I don't think there is a chance to recover a RAID drive reasonably anyways. But the fact that the SSD might fail pretty much instantly where the HDD might be more predictable is a factor. As I will be running it in RAID and the valuable data is being backed up to a secondary NAS it's not a massive issue but certainly something I have to add into my consideration, thanks!
  14. I have to look that up, though I am not sure how that would work with RAID. I don't want to loose the RAID protection, but I don't know if I can split the filesystem to have a cache just on the SSD without loosing too much capacity. But that's an interesting idea, absolutely have to look into the capabilities here.
  15. What facts? That they are faster, make less noise, use less power and are instantly on without the need to spin up? There are absolutely upsides to using SSDs in a NAS. Does one need them? Certainly not, and I am asking for things I am missing that might make SSDs a bad idea in a NAS besides the price. Geez, why do people always need to get offended when one doesn't fully agree with them? It's a discussion forum for discussing topics...
