  1. I have no idea where you are finding a brand new macbook PRO for 800 usd but good for you, make sure you are not mistaking it for the air. @above said only true things about battery life and heat, but the point will be whether you actually need to run any simulations on your laptop. I'm in a similar situation as i do CS/EE in MIT and I have no idea exactly what software I'll need to run and if all of them are even available in macos. Take a look in the recently launched acer swift x as i think it more closely compares to the macbooks in price and form factor
  2. I still want to use dx11 tou. But hey, if all else fails, might as well
  3. I will try a different mouse as soon as I can. I should expect a g403 would not give problems but at this point I'll take anything. I didn't yet uninstall windows, but I did roll back to an older version, still no solution. I'm thinking about reinstalling a really old version that is "know to be gud"
  4. On the bottom I like I said, this had unfortunately no impact
  5. I wanted to know if people out there have the same problem as me, and how could I solve it. I can open task manager with nothing moving and my mouse standing still, and my CPU usage is around 5% whenever I start moving my mouse, it jumps to 25%. The app that uses it is always the same app the mouse is hovering over. If I move the mouse over the desktop, windows explorer jumps to 25%, if I'm moving on chrome, chrome's cpu usage jumps. this is problematic as it happens in games making my most important moments, those filled with movement, extremely laggy I have a core i5-9400 and a GTX 1060. I know for a fact none of them thermal throttle, both perform as expected, and are way over the specs for mouse moving. I have a G403. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling G HUB multiple times, and also using basic mouse drivers. No success. The issue is also present in safe mode. Even if you don't have a solution, can you test this very quickly on your computer, to see how much cpu usage moving the mouse arround gives you? It would already help a lot. I also noticed it completely loads one core, and then half another core, so that explains the 25%. Things I have tried: DDU and reinstal newest nvidia drivers DDU and install old nvidia drivers. put motherboard in default settings (BIOS) unistalling and re installing G HUB, using different DPI's and poll rates using basic windows mouse drivers. Guarantee nothing else is running on the computer. Safe mode Rerolling (syustem recovery) to an older windows version Disabling the RGB (as a sinner) NONE worked even a tiny little bit. It sucks getting 10fps on low 1080p valorant with this machine
  6. I decided to check hwinfo and you are more than right, thanks!
  7. I have a random OEM h310 chipset motherboard and recently learned it only has 6 pcie gen 2 lanes available. I have a gtx 1060 plugged in the physically 16x slot. Could this limitation bottleneck my system for 1080p gaming? PS's: I didn't buy a prebuilt, got this from a shady craigslist-ish deal, it was worth it considering the other parts bundled i have a 9400 with 16gb in dual channel
  8. I'd recommend you check out r/buildmeapc. I usually help people there and so do many others (I'm busy rn)
  9. Budget (including currency): 2600 Brazilian Real (BRL) - Around 465 Dollars Country: Brazil Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming 1080p at 75hz monitor Other details CPU: core i5-9400 MOBO: DH310 MXV - V2 RAM: 2*8GB ddr4 2400 SSD: Gigabyte random ssd m.2 HDD: random 500GB hd PSU: Corsair VS550w 80+ GPU: None included, I have a 1070 lined that I plan to drop in here CASE+COOLERS: I don't care for it, but has a cpu random cooler included, 3 rgb fans and glass side and front panels, along with psu shroud. From reddragon I know this makes no sense in dollars, but here things are expensive. The seller claims he buys new parts from distributers, I don't know if I buy it. I already plan on running prime95 with furmark to test, along with memtest86. I'm here to ask what should I do when meeting the seller to confirm I don't buy anything broken
  10. I have an i3-9100f, which I have read online from reviews can consume up to 100watts of power, in spite of its 65W tdp. When I stress test is however, in spite of temperatures maxing out at 77C, it doesn't turbo higher of try to pull more power from the wall. the average consumption is only 50W and peaking at 60W, so what can I do to make it consume more power, since my psu and cooling can definitely handle it?
  11. So, I'm really leaning towards a UPS. Now question is wheter I need an online one. Also, for just the pc, would a 600VA be enough (its what the psu calculator recomends). I know online psus are better for some application because of the percet sine wave, but if I just want slighly cleaner power for power dips, not brown outs, does an UPS actually help?
  12. It really is. Launching games there reboots sometimes instantly sometimes in less than 10 minutes. They say its always fine in the mornings, but afternoons and evenings make it harder. The question becomes: if I was sure to have a godtier perfectly built to spec power supply, could it still reboot there? if so, ups is better choice, if not, psu upgrade is possibly
