    It would be better to get a Ryzen cpu at this point in time.  I'd go for the 3600 if you're just gaming, or a 3700x if you do other things like streaming or video editing as well.  The performance difference isn't worth the extra money for an intel cpu imo.

    I regretted upgrading from a i7 4770 to a i7 8700.
    I'd go 100% AMD now

    ...no it won't, cpus don't "deteriorate" with time... and buying things you don't need because you think they may be useful at some point in the future is the easiest way to waste money. By the time you actually need it it will be much cheaper, or there will be much better options at the same price.
