  1. update: i must have broken my mobo. got a new one and all is ok
  2. now how would i check other components? would the cpu, ram and everything be ok if i just swap it out?
  3. ok, mobo removed and every possible check done, still no post. if i take it to a computer shop perhaps they would have some gear there to test it before i go out and buy a new motherboard? then if its the cpu causing the issue? ive never been so frustrated with this pc. @dragoon20005
  4. tried everything. almost put my fist through it, maybe the mobo is just dead?
  5. tried this also. nothing seems to work. the last thing i can think of doing is unplugging everything and starting over. i really dont know what that would achieve though,
  6. Hi guys. I had a antec kuhler installed, it failed, then went out and baught a coolermaster 212x. The computer was working as normal before i removed the antec cooler, checked the bios to see what temps it got to, and nothing over 70. while the cooler was off i decided to tidy up all the wiring, clean up all the dust and now it looks much better. but, today i installed the new cooler, hit the power button, and no post. nothing at all. keyboard and mouse don't even light up, fans spin up, my dominator ram sticks light up, hdds spin up and so does the optical drive. no beeps or anything, i have tried clearing the bios with the pin jumper, checked all plugs and connections, tried ram in different slots, removed cpu to check if excess thermal paste got somwhere it souldnt have, (all seems ok) Thanks in advance System CPUAMD A8 6600K 4-Core Processor MotherboardASRock FM2A88X+ Killer Motherboard RAMCorsair Dominator Platinum 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 GPUSapphire Radeon R9 280X Dual-X OC 3GB CaseCorsair Graphite 230T Case Black StorageSamsung 840 EVO Series 120GB SSD boot drive + Western Digital WD Green 1TB + 3x Toshiba 500GB HDD PSUCorsair CS750M Modular 80 Plus Gold Power Supply Display(s)50" Samsung LED Smart TV (series 5 5500) KeyboardTt eSPORTS Challenger Pro Gaming Keyboard MouseTt eSPORTS Black 4000 DPI Gaming Mouse
  7. all i did was set my gpu clock back down to what it was based at, shitty oc programs took it waaay to high which was overheating the gpu. youll need to post specs if you need help from these guys @Joke gaming
  8. a 90 degree fitting is definitely needed, but freaking awesome build, soothing to be proud of!

kick-starting an old thread! Whats some new music that you all have been into? Also, HOW GOOD IS AMITY AFFLICTION'S NEW ALBUM ^-^ that's all.
  10. no noticeable damage, play it one day at a time, if it dies so be it i suppose lol
  11. boost clock was at 1500 not 1020... thanks F-stream, fucked me over again. thanks guys. i think ive fixed it without needing to spend more money! yay
  12. I have not overclocked the gpu, its straight out of the box and the AMD catalyst is up to date. UPDATE: still gets lines with a very small <30" tv. and about the same timeframe. 10-15 minutes.
  13. i dont have a dedicated monitor, always used laptops or my pc that i didn't game on, using the tv, til this build... i put the gpu in and turned off the onboard graphics and got 15 mins out of the game on ultra, then the lines, its weird because the audio keeps looping and nothing can make the computer respond apart from resetting.
  14. UPDATE. With the gpu removed, i played bioshock infinite on ultra, (SO LAGGY) for about 10-15 mins, where it would usually give the lines, and no such thing... so might be that... might throw it back in and see how long it takes to get the lines again. its usually pretty quick
  15. Sorry i posted this twice the other post went missing, please go over to the other post http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/162004-im-upgrading-to-intel-assurance-needed/
  16. what is the best gpu to pair with the a8 6600k? or try a different monitor to my 50"
  17. Hi guys, my current rig is AMD A8 6600k powered, im finding that im getting lines through the screen when playing demanding games like assassins creed or bioshock. Im hoping that is because of bottlenecking, and a i5 4670K paired with a MSI Z97 Gaming 3 mobo will solve the issue. Here is the other specs of my pc as it is right now. CPU AMD A8 6600K 4-Core Processor Motherboard ASRock FM2A88X+ Killer Motherboard RAM Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 GPU Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Dual-X OC 3GB Case Corsair Graphite 230T Case Black Storage Samsung 840 EVO Series 120GB SSD + Western Digital WD Green 1TB + 3x Toshiba 500GB HDD PSU Corsair CS750M Modular 80 Plus Gold Power Supply Display 50" Samsung LED Smart TV (series 5 5500) Cooling Antec Kuhler 650 CPU cooler, + 4 Case fans Keyboard Tt eSPORTS Challenger Pro Gaming Keyboard Mouse Tt eSPORTS Black 4000 DPI Gaming Mouse Sound Turtle beach X12 + Home theater surround Any suggestions as to why this would not fix my problems? or am i on the money with this? Hoping to place my order by Monday afternoon, (5:09 Thursday arvo here in AUS ATM.)

  19. Depends if you intend to overclock i suppose. really need to know what temps your gear is getting up to to get an accurate answer here.
  20. All i'm thinking is there better be something crazy going on inside this bookshelf to warrant that amount of rad space. if you just kept all your drives in one shelf (ssd, hdds, opticals and whatnot) then the mobo with the cooling loop in another, nice leds or somthing to show it off. then have the Phobya 1080 Rad (like @Butterfish had said) at the side or back or even the next shelf with some airflow going on through the sides, and the res. Having it so spread out will need more than necessary amount of fans, money and noise.
  21. Welcome, what country are you from?
  22. you guys wont believe this, but. i uninstalled all the asrock utility crap that "makes it better" and guess what, aero effects came back, youtube works now and css isnt choppy anymore. co incidence? i think not i plugged it back in now, turns out it wasn't in the right way round
  23. Most likely its a condenser fan, when your driving, the ram air is cooling the refrigerant inside the condenser, and at idle (stopped, no ram air) it isn't getting sufficient airflow for cooling, therefore not working. check the fans and see if they're cutting in and doing their normal cycle, check that the compressor clutch is cutting in, should be able to tell that quite easily. other than that take it to someone who can re-gas it, might be a clogged filter also, they'll change that out when doing the service, if they don't pick up on whats wrong, you've got yourself a bad tech. Diesel mechanic finally came in with some useful advice on this forum. Yay for me. @pcmasterguy the engine wouldn't necessarily overheat because of the overall larger rad, less airflow needed.
