  1. Are you the only internet user on your connection? Perhaps a bandwidth problem if e.g. your family is also heavily using the internet at the same time? Does your system support wifi too? Sometimes my laptop is on wifi even though its plugged in on ethernet.
  2. Hey, sounds annoying indeed. Sounds like it’s throttling but if temps are good that can’t be it then. Are you sure your system supports 4x8GB ram sticks? Try running the system on only two sticks of ram, in either the black or blue slots. see how that works
  3. I just did the window 10 factory reset, cleared and formatted my other two drives. Installed bitdefender (paid subscription) , installed steam, tried to install GTA V and as soon as the download started, it rebooted on me again. so my guess is it’s hardware related. Kernel-power Id41 error in the event log. I hooked up a volt meter and 12v is stabile between 12.06-12.09V 5v between 5.10-5.12v on a molex connector. So I assume my PSU is fine? I dug around in the log, and notice some odd message about harddrives beeing ok where my C-drive and E - drive seem to checking put okay. But my F drive is not specificallt being called as F but rather a strange clickable link is show in the event log. Though the drive is stated to be OK, no action required. Can a hard drive send my pc into a reboot even if there’s nothing on the drive?
  4. did another stress test in OCCT ramping up my RAM to about max. didn't crash the system (See below screencapture) Tested with a single RAM stick, same crash in 3 seconds. tested the other stick only, same thing. I also looked in the windows event viewer to see if there was anything sketchy there. It seems there are some DCOM warnings and errors. things like Server {354FF91B-5E49-4BDC-A8E6-1CB6C6877182} didn't register with DCOM in time. Ran bitdefender virusscanner, didn't find anything ram malwarebytes. it found 10 things, 3 of which it said were malware, 7 were suspicious. Quaranteened all of them. Still had a reboot yesterday whilst playing GTA V for 10 minutes. I installed HWinfo, but what should I be looking at/for?
  5. Hi Ma__ga, Thanks for the response. I downloaded the OCCT and did various load tests. The memory test crashed within 5 seconds. There's no report or anything. Not sure what to make of it. it's newly bought RAM (10 months in use now) the memtest86 didn't report any errors... I have yet to do investigate the other things, but thought this may be a lead.
  6. Hi folks, My system is randomly rebooting. Can’t figure this one out. No BSOD’s About 9 months ago I upgraded my system. Bought a new GTX1660Ti a 2nd hand Gigabyte Z77P-D3 motherboard to fit my i7 3rd gen ivy bridge. Fitted the cpu with a dark rock pro cooler. Added 2x 8GB ram sticks from Hyperx. Lastly to power the rig a new PSU: https://m.alternate.nl/Cooler-Master/MWE-450Watt-Bronze-v2-voeding/html/product/1551849 Running a win7 install that’s probably 6-7 years old and upgraded it to win10 i think about 1-2 years ago. Then bought this Gigabyte motherboard to fit my GTX1660Ti and had to go through the hassle of migrating windows to a new motherboard. That was last Christmas break. So for 8 months everything was fine and dandy but since a month things are awkward. The system operated fine, but after about an hour or so the screen goes black, the audio continues for 3 more seconds and the system then reboot. What i have done so far. Did a mem test, all good on the RAM Checked the voltage on the 12V rail and it was between 12.04 - 12.07 whilst running a benchmark load for about 15 min. Formatted an additional SSD which was 98% full, not the windows drive. Thinking it perhaps used it as Cache?? Not sure. It did speed up the boot process, but didn’t resolve the reboots. Updated my GPU driver last week, Updated Windows to 2005 built about a month ago. I think there may be a correlation there. Got rid of AVG virus scanner and am running the free trial of bitdefender at the moment. Just today I had another reboot after about an hour again. It feels like it’s right around the same time it happens. I checked the event scheduler and deleted a couple of old stuff like update check of AVG. didn’t do the trick either. I dont know how to: •check the CPU •Check other voltages •If my motherboard may have issues Any other thought or info you need to make sense of this? All the help is really appreciated Thanks
  7. I’m not looking to overclock my system CPU. Just wanted to know if 75C was too hot or not. And since my stock cooler is getting dusty and obnoxiously loud, I’m wondering what cooler I should get instead
  8. Oke that eases my mind somewhat. still want to buy a quieter cooler at some point. Any suggestions for that? I got a CoolerMaster case, not sure what model... but rather larger I think a tower?
  9. Hi folks, I recently upgraded my gpu and installed MSI afterburner. I never really kept notice of my CPU temp before but now with RivaTuner in see that in playing games my CPU I7 3770 get up to 70-75C. I still have my stock cooler on it. I’m not sure if with the new GPU playing at maxed out graphics changed anything for the CPU at all. For all i know with my precious GPU it at just ad hot, i just neven knew. there are too many confusing statements on temps on the internet. I understand it depends on the CPU as well? And that above 75C is potentially dangerous, where some sites stat 85 and some overclocking video’s i came across researching this even went up to 90 as the limit was 95 for that processor??? so in my case what would be a good temp to aim for, should I buy a better cooler say Be-Quit? Do those come with thermal paste if not what should I get? thanks
  10. I’m mainly writing this for who ever is facing the same issue. mission imposaible succes though. Bought a Gigabyte Z77P-D3. This motherboard came with the lastest updates. I drove up to the shop to test my CPU, GPU and RAM in the board. All worked. I even was so lucky my windows still works fine. Didn’t have to reinstall it. so if your GTX1660Ti is not recognized by the computer. Like doesn’t even show in the device manager. Try updating the bios. If you can’t like in my case ‘cause support was stopped. Then only option is finding a motherboard that is supported and hold your CPU and RAM en GPU. Cheapest option I guess. Check your CPU socket type and look for a motherboard for that type. Also keeping form factor in check as that determines where your screws go in your case and wherher it fits. For me I switched from ATX micro to ATX standard which my case supports. I also learned that my old motherboard probably was used for workstations, office pc’s, and thus support was stopped. Motherboard made for gaming PCs tend to have longer support? This mew board is older but still allows for the latest cards to work. hope someone finds this helpful. Otherwise sorry for the spam
  11. Well the iobits did look promising when the pcie3 showed up, but the update didn’t help. Today at the LAN party it seems the card is functional in another system. So I have to fix a new motherboard it sadly seems... thanks for all the support everyone.
  12. I’m not sure what to do at this point. Thanks for all the help and advise so far. I’ll check the drivers thing tonight and will see tomorrow if it’s perhaps the GPU. Perhaps someone the Lan party moght have a good idea. It’s just wierd the Driver doesnt support the most up to date win10 either... and the card did transmist that split second of screen. I just don’t understand what’s happening. i just spent 600€ so my budget is drained... returning the card does get me anywhere now. I might just have to return the Ram and but a new motherboard then. I wasn’t aware a cpu is motherboard dependent...
  13. Thanks for the feedback. According to the manual of the motherboard it should support upto 32gb, it has 2dual chanel so i suppose it should work just fine with 2x8 in one dual chanel. i’ll try the iobits tonight. if that and/or tomorrow checking the gpu in another system doesn’t work I suppose i need to buy a new MB. Any suggestions for that? (Scared to death about taking the cpu out though... any good instructional vids on putting that in a MB? Same with thermal paste. What to get?)
  14. I downloaded the latest flash bios from intel for the specific board last summer. Tried to flash it using usb as well as the tool. None would work. Also older versions didn’t work. I’ll be at a LAN party tomorrow. I’m sure I’ll find someone willing to use their rig to test the integrity of the GPU.
