  1. I have a broken Bose Solo (original). I been looking at the Bose Solo 5, but I am wondering what LTT community would recommend for a TV sound bar.
  2. The original poster asked if you checked for bent pins. Linus did a video about this topic. Most memory controllers are now on the CPU itself. A bent pin can cause such a problem. Look down the side of the CPU from 2 perpendicular sides. All the pins should be going down the same rows. Also do you have another processor you can put in there to test to make sure your processor is still good?
  3. Download the manual, and go though the troubleshooting on the board. There might be some insights you can use there.
  4. Do you have a beep speaker plugged in, or are there lights to show you the post status?
  5. Did you try resetting the BIOS with the clear pins? Some motherboards now have a button that says clear cmos/bios?
  6. reassembled and running stress tests. Heaven Benchmark running after driver updates
  7. I cleaned out the capacitor crater left behind in the pop. I plugged in motherboard to power and ram. (no cooling) and got it to post to bios and boot menu.... You think i need that cap?
  8. I had a motherboard do that for me once, I ended up taking out all my components and only using the minimum amount of parts. CPU/MoBo/(1)RamStick and Flashdrive with the bios on it. This allowed my computer to boot again and update my bios. Also check for a BIOS clear jumper and pins. PS i found out my WiFi card was bad and that was causing my problems.
  9. I was the proud owner of a Lenovo Gaming laptop. Ideapad Y-700 AMD, MB is a BY510 NM-A521 Rev 1.0. I was using this laptop at work and I heard a pop and the laptop stopped powering on. I have done many laptop repairs before, I have never had to replace a surface mounted cap before. I know I could by a new motherboard, but I really want to try to replace this blown cap and put my college electronics classes to work. (i have forgotten so much, good time to relearn) I am going to attach the photos of the board and damage. Any help identifying the correct capacitor, soldering tips, or general repair tips would be cool. Photos were taken with a Moto Z3.. I can get better photos if needed.
