  1. Those temps are actually fine for a 5700XT. My card personally runs around 90C edge and 110C Junction stock and around 80C and 100C with a custom fan curve. As long as your Junction is at or below 115C you are within AMD's Temperature spec. The higher readouts are actually just because of the way AMD is actually reading die temps now, with Junction being the single hottest area. Where as in the past it was only read off an edge temp, much like NVidias current cards and AMD's older cards were.
  2. Have you tried uping the voltage on your CPU and RAM to check for instability, or booting with 1 ram stick at a time?
  3. On Qubes, X Cant start, that is usually a Video Driver issue. What graphics card do you have? Tails, you would need to provide a logcat.
  4. For a distro, I would recommend Fedora as its built from Red Hat and should provide anything you need. If you just need a simple text editor while your in bash, I recommend nano. As far as using a 4770K in this setup, I personally wouldn't recommend it and would recommend a network based firewall. What you would have to give up to your KVM would have a larger impact on that setup. If you want something quick and dirty use a KVM, If you want the best performance you can get, use a network based firewall. On a side note, you can force linux to use your iGPU to free up your dedicated GPU. Honestly the effort put into both, it would probably take about the same amount of time to set either of them up.
  5. Linux is a great alternative. Gaming on linux has never been easier, I am a Arch Linux user. However if you want to play the latest releases or play anything with a anti-cheat software or a intrusive DRM scheme, linux is still at minimum a year out if not longer. For the best gaming experience, Windows 10 is your only option. Windows 10 in a KVM with GPU passthrough is a option, but you will need a second dedicated GPU for either Linux or your Windows VM, and you do lose some of your cpu's resources which could affect your gaming performance depending on the title. Windows 7 and Windows 8 keys do still active Windows 10, but I believe only from a clean install, I could be wrong here. As far as Windows 10 vs 8.1 they honestly collect about the same amount of data. You could limit the data or eliminate it by blocking access via a firewall, preferably at a network/router level.
  6. maybe faster ethernet wifi more m.2 storage more usb and other connectors

    And maybe some more RGB

  7. My current setup is a Ryzen 3600, with DDR4 3600, and a 5700 XT. Would there be any benefit apart from PCIE 4 in upgrading to a X570 ( been looking at the ASUS TUF or the MSI MPG) board from a Crosshair VI Hero X370. I am building another secondary computer with my old 1600X and I am trying to decide on whether I should I upgrade my current board to a X570 and move the X370 to the secondary build, or just pickup a B450 for the 1600X. The price difference is about $100, not that its a lot, I just don't see a point spending money if I'm not going to notice a difference. I spend most of my time in linux compiling, gaming through a compatibility layer, and the occasional image editing with the 3600 whereas the 1600X will be primarily for gaming and streaming in windows. I don't know how much of an upgrade moving to PCIE 4 alone would be.
