  1. I have decent homelab server running Unraid as OS. Wanting to get away from monthy subs and set up automation cause my teenagers cant understand the concept of a light switch can be turned off when not in the room. im currently used blink for cameras and really want to get away from them. I live in an appartment so hard wiring is a no go, they are very picky I had to unhook my Blink door bell from the internal wiring. I know there are several way about going around doing this with Pros and Cons on Both sides. I have a budget of about $400 I need 6x Internal wifi cameras and some battery powered wifi external (All camera must be able to mount on the wall instead of standup type). I dont mind running a DVR Software in a VM (Currently have a 12Core 16gb ram windows 11 VM for other things running already) or a Docker. I know I could run a standalone NVR but I would perfer to use the Server. Here is the specs 2x Xeon Gold 6154 (C36/T72 Together) 384GB DDR4/2666mhz Ram 4TB U,2 NVME SSD 102TB Hard Drives I was thinking of these https://www.amazon.com/security-cameras-wireless-outdoor-tapo/dp/B09ZZJB6VX or even giving Eufy a try (Yes I know about the contervesy about them a year ago) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0912R591N Not sure what NVR software to run. Bottom line I got $400 I need 7 Camera's and a NVR Software. Please help and thankyou for any suggestions.
  2. I'm currently running a p2000 in my server. I have around 5-10 streams going during peak times and it seems to buffer or not want to go sometimes. Here is a link of my build currently and I was thinking about swapping the p2000 out for another card like an Intel arc for Av1. Before anyone ask I have plexpass using 16 cores.
  3. Looking for a Rtx Quadro 5000 for fast encoding, a raid card that will give me atleast 6 more Sata ports to hook up (the rest of the hotswaps) on PCIe Gen 3 since thats what the motherboard supports. then in the a external out Mini Sas card to run an extrernal Jbod in the late future. Still not there in the line of storage got room for 7 more Sata Drive's and 3 more U.3 SSD's.
  4. @Zando_ I just wanted to say thankyou. I got the system build had no issues with the GPU or power supply as for cooler we went with CORSAIR H115I ELITE CPLXXT 280 BK. Update I didnt have to mod the case for Video card but I did have issues with cooling in the basement of the case with the 4090 down there and 8 hard drives so I added two 140mm fans.
  5. I might have to cut a small guide for the video card power connector if clearance isn't there
  6. Yeah cable mod 90 degree and riser cable was already planned as for the video card their pdf showed this. And that's what I used to size the gpu.
  7. Yeah I know what u mean it's been a rough time finding a case that will support a bunch of hard drives and fit that asus 621e motherboard. I've tried 2 cases before and had to custom rip and drill to make it half ass work. But that v3000 plus looks like it might the solution long term. Thankyou for looking into this. Will u double check the psu and gpu for a sanity check?
  8. yeah that was my thoughts also that the CPU would thermal trottle. AIO looks like the choice i will be going. Any suggestions on one that would mount at the front of the case and able to somewhat tame the 13900k. Dont plan on Overclocking the hell out of it if anything the factory OC.
  9. Its been a while. Might be able to boot up in a command line and use Dos to delete the Fdisk and reformat the hard drive.
  10. I had to buy Case, Ram, Power Supply, and the U.2 Drives. The Seagate drives and the P2000 I had laying around from my old plex server. I tried to set up a Gaming VM with it using a GTX 1650 and a 1tb Samsung evo 970 and the performance was lacking. Now Im wanting to build a Micro ITX in the current case as System 2. Here is some idea's I had but I want to see what the community thought. I want over kill and perfer air cooler over water, But still open to suggestions. System 2 ITX Build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3Cfpd9 U can view the PDF from Lian Li Website for more spec info about the v3000, I found their website and PDF measurements dont match up. I do not feel comforable linking the PDF directly so here is the product page https://lian-li.com/product/v3000-plus/ Im unsure about part list and I know its overkill. Concerns i have is Cooling on the CPU, GPU and PSU fitting in the system 2 Slot in bottom of case. I have 10x 140mm corsair fans mounted in the case pulling air from bottom and front and blowing out the rear and top.
  11. To bad Linus couldn't recommend the micro sd card sata drive cause it was crap but a interesting video I was wondering why they didn't do that to increase capacity in the early days of ssds.
  12. Reason I want ssd speed is cause of steam library to cut load times and data transfers when I get back home and update my libraries on Movies/TV shows for offline viewing. Time is Money. I will have to look at a few of those thunderbolt enclosures to see if they are a 100% Compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 2 since my laptop doesn't have a thunderbolt port, I know some devices will work while a few wont. I might have to think about 3.5 drives but that could make it less portable. Only reason to stripe the ssds was for capacity/price not speed on external.. I've read the Raid Hdd vs ssd post on the forum here and ssd speed would be a benefit. Thankyou for more ideas you found a few I didn't see when I was researching on my own. Back to the Sabrent enclosure how bad would u think it would be bottle necked on that 5gb USB 3.0 vs the 6gb sata III in a raid array? Remember the only reason I'm thinking about striping the drives vs buying bigger is capacity/price not speed on the ssd. I figured I would of been limited to a USB 3.1 or 3.2 Gen 1 interface.i know in my first post I said striped for speed I was mean speed as in ssd not in raid 1 speed due to overheads of USB interface usb 3.1 Gen 1 is 5gb Gen 2 is 10gb and usb 3.2 Gen 1 is 10gb Gen 2 20gb. In a perfect work an enclosure what I want in usb 3.2 Gen 2 would be perfect then I would get the speed from striping in theory
  13. I'm not sure what would be my best choice i'm worried about bottle neck a little from the USB 3.0 interface with the Sabrent dock with 2x 4TB SSD's and then 2 other 4tb HDD as redundancy. So if I go with MiniPro Dock I would need 2 SSD's in Raid 1 for redundancy cause I cant find a HDD bigger then 5tb in 2.5in form https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-870-QVO-SATA-MZ-77Q4T0B/dp/B089C3TZL9/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=2.5%2BSSD%2B4tb&qid=1619407099&sr=8-3&th=1 Thankyou for replying I will be researching more of these products in the mean time any other thoughts?
  14. Here is a brief back story for context. I'm a cross country truck driver and right now I currently have a 8tb extremal HD using a basic USB 3.0 interface after my last drive DIED and I had to wait till I got home a few months later to recover from back ups.. I store my steam library on it and my downloaded Movies/TV Shows so I can watch using VLC. At Home I have a repurposed computer running Windows and with 2 8tb hard drives in Raid 1 as a personal data/plex server (thinking about running a VM on that computer with Unraid or FreeNas in the future). But in the truck Im wanting something with some SSD Speed my laptop Supports USB C 3.2 Gen 2 really wish now I got one with Thunderbolt! I would like to get an enclose or something else that is portable that i can run like a few 2.5 in SSD's in Raid Striped for Speed and 1 Standard 2.5 HDD mirroring the Striped Raid. Data caps, bandwidth, and dead spots keep me from just streaming my Movies/TV Shows. Key points is has to be portable at the max maybe the size of 2 3.5in externals drives give or take a few inches. Not sure where to go for help so I figured I would give the LTT Forums and shot hope the communality can help.
