Try RealVNC or the open source TightVNC alternative.
RealVNC supports better encryption and is more... smooth, more polished.
Install RealVNC / Tight VNC server then you can connect to your PC using RealVNC/TightVNC viewer and enter user/pass (or use the Windows user/pass if you so choose).

I think it depends on how you configure it.
RealVNC / TightVNC even has an option to connect as a viewer only, to watch the screen but without ability to use keyboard or mouse or give any input. THere's also a way to see stuff from browser, if you have Java installed... can be configured from options.
