  1. I was thinking about TrueNAS, only downside i think is all HDDs have to be the same size.
  2. I've been using unraid for about 2 years now for a NAS, Plex media server. I have a extra PC that i wanted to use to backup my unraid server so i am wondering if i should use unraid again or try something else. This second PC would only be used once a month or less to backup my current unraid server. It would only be a backup not used for plex etc. I'm happy with unraid and i don't mind buying another license my only complaint about unraid is it's a bit slow. I have around 40TB of data and use a 10GIG network not that it matters since it's only as fast as your HDD.
  3. By temporary I mean a week. I already have backups of the most important.
  4. I need to empty my NAS to start over, i have TBs of data i'm trying to find something to move this data to temporarily. I have a spare PC that uses a ASUS TUF Z390M-Pro Gaming board and a few spare hard drives as one is not large enough. It looks like you can setup raid0 in the bios. Would this work or is there a better way that i can do this on Win.
  5. Veracrypt is pretty cool. I like it now that i know how to use it. BTW what is your opinion on using bitlocker? Should you turn it on or leave it off.
  6. Would you trust 7-zip with your tax info? I like that they have a portable version. Do people backup there personal photos to onedrive etc unencrypted.
  7. I know that bitlocker will let you do this but once you encrypt the folder it seems that you can not copy it somewhere to back it up or view it on different pc on a shared drive. I want the encrypted folder accessible from any PC but require a key of some sorts. As i would like to store the folder in the cloud. What software would let me do this? Paid or free. Please don't say winzip or winrar
  8. Are these T5 Torx? It's a Lenovo Ideapad 5 Pro 14 Laptop.
  9. I figured it out for anyone else with issues. It was the setting to allow lan traffic! of all things Not sure what difference it makes but if you block lan traffic your device will connect to the hot spot but never work.
  10. After spending more time on this if i don't use PIA the hotspot works as it should.
  11. frustrating. Are yours set to obtain an IP automatically? I noticed in the MS virtual adapter it is set to use the following ip. In the IPV4 settings.
  12. Does not work on my iPhone 12. That is why i was under the impression you need Hosted network feature for this to work.
  13. It works but i don't think the roku is getting a IP.
  14. Once i enable the mobile hotspot windows makes a local area connection* 10. I then go to the PIA network adapter properties share and pick local area connection* 10. The roku will connect to it but there is no internet.
  15. i'm trying to connect a wireless device (roku) to my PC so it goes through a vpn like nord etc Is there a better way?
  16. It's a TL-WN823N. Shows Hosted network supported : No Using newest drivers.
  17. I'm looking for any USB WiFi adapter that supports the Hosted network feature. Can anyone help? I have bought a few but none support it. Can be found by cmd . NETSH WLAN show drivers
  18. Beeps twice shows this on the screen then shuts off. Think centre pc can’t get to the bios all from lighting.
  19. You where right 75C. I found the issue it was a bad fan splitter! Now i'm at 51c at 30% load even with a low fan speed no more revs! I ended up taking it apart and noticed a wire loss on the fan splitter. I even got rid of all the dust.
  20. Yeah not used for gaming. Is it because air is less likely yo fail? Right now i'm using a corsair 120mm cooler. It should be fine for a cpu that is only 65 watts.
  21. That is what i am using. What is best for a PC that is on 24/7 water or air?
