    LTT in China?

As a big LTT fan and follower I would love to buy some merch from LTTstore.com but.... I live in china due to work. How, while having alipay and wechat pay, can I order something from the most awesome shop out there?
  3. Hello Awesome LTT forum people! I hope everyone is fine and safe during these corona shizzle. Just a question about my gpu. I have a Gigabyte RTX 2070 super Windforce OC 8G with stock cooler. I can buy an good aftermarket cooler from a friend, but wanted to know for sure if it will fit. According to him the card needs to support any 53mm and 58mm hole distance but can't find anything online so far.... My card: Thanks everyone in advance for your time and knowledge!
  4. Hi fellow LTT fans, I have an MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon with a Core i9 9900K and RTX 2070 super. There is a bios update available which enables the feature Linus discussed recently: Resizable BAR. Just a quick question before I update the bios, are there any things I need to consider before doing this? Is it worth it considering my gpu? Thanks everyone in advance for your advise.
  5. the NIC in my pc is set to 1gb/s full duplex. Checked with 1 file but tops 99,9MB/s
  6. Hi fellow LTT forummers, I have a question regarding the transfer speed of files from my NAS to my gaming rig. This because I am upgrading my hdd's for more storage. Let me explain how all is connected: My gaming rig and my NAS are both connected to a gigabit switch, the switch is connected to the modem. Both my gaming rig and NAS are connected to the switch via a CAT6 cable. Lowest transfer speed was 45 MB/s and highest was 98,9 MB/s. The NAS is a Synology DS218j and has 2 x 1TB WD red 3,5" HDD installed Now I did test transferring files to the NAS from my gaming rig and the average speed was 99,1 MB/s.
  7. Thanks for the confirmation. It was just something on my mind that I couldn't really place so well LTT forum is the best place to ask fellow techpeople.
  8. Hi everyone, I have a question here. we recently bought a new apartment here in China and completely renovated it. The walls were renewed aswell as electricity wiring and stuff. So as a tech guy I wanted to have LAN port in every room and choose CAT6 because here it's the same price as CAT5. Now we have a 500mbps. internet connection. As the cable goes into the wall towards outside and can really tell what it is I have to guess. from China Telecom and the engineer connected the incoming line with our new modem. Eventually only thing left was a blue optic connector to be plugged into the modem. My question is here: as I saw him working with a regular RJ45 cable which he used for the blue connector, does this mean it's just rj45 converting into optic fibre or am I just simply seeing ghosts? Result was 439mbps speedtest
  9. Update on this topic! Today we got a delivery from that webshop, it seems to be a new graphics card. Will it be real or another fake one? It turns out that this is a true GTX 1050 card as promised! Everything checked out and 3d mark score seems reasonable. Hope tonight our auntie will be happy with her "new" computer. Will she have chicken dinner?
  10. My thinking aswell... Just scrapped it out of a pc somewhere and sold it in "new" pc's and sell on Taobao. They target at people who don't even realize it. Unfortunately I found out haha.
  11. the system came with Windows 7 indeed and will be upgraded to windows 10 but first wanna make sure the system itself runs as should....
  12. So our aunt bought a cheap PC (1000 yuan) on Taobao and when delivered asked me to check it out... When running a 3D Mark benchmark I already found it weird to see how the FPS dropped to below 20 while this supposed to be an GTX 1050 graphics card. After installing Speccy and GPU-Z it was indeed what I suspected: FAKE!!! Based on the model it's actually a GT 1030 from 2012! My wife chat with customer support and at first they didn't believe me but when showing photo's it was clear and they admit their mistake. Now they will sent a real GTX 1050 graphics card and funny thing is is that on Taobao this card is at lowest price point about 450 yuan which is almost half of the total price of the computer. But hey, that's their problem right!? So funny to actually see a fake graphics card in a system. Any other #pcmr friends experienced this first hand aswell?
  13. Greetings to all awesome LTT fans around the world, I am from China and a member here for some months. Of course I watch LTT every day and was wondering when it will be possible to pay with Alipay or Wechat Wallet, as I really want to buy some merch from the LTT store.... Hopefully Linus or other LTT techgods can respond on this. Crossing my fingers here....
  14. Hi fellow techgeeks! Just a general topic about steam vouchers. Now as I am currently living in China I found out you can't buy PC games are most of the IT malls in the big cities. You need to buy on Taobao a voucher of game voucher and then activate it. I tried this with a small amount of money, 7 dollars, and bought a small game voucher. Now after paying with Alipay you need to go to https://nansong.steamrobot.me/autoorder and login with your steam account. This is to receive the gift voucher of the game to your account's emailadress. I received it right away so far so good. However, after tying to activate it in my Steam for about 4 times I submitted a ticket at Steam Support. They informed me, 3 days later, that they can't support this kind of Gift distribution. I did get my money back from the webshop where I bought the voucher, but just want to warn any of you who perhaps live or gonna live in China and want to be PC games.... Don't buy Steam games in this way, it doesn't work and is not supported. FYI
  15. I have searched for you but it's indeed quite hard to get a key online. My best bet is to search ebay and such. Find a pyschical copy
  16. As I will be travelling from Shanghai to visit LTX and have experience organising events around gaming and hardware, would love to sign up in May and volunteer.
  17. Okay, second day for me to use FAH, started it and start Folding but after 1 and half hour nothing shows a sign of progress..... Now I know servers must be busy and such but one should expect something to display on screen right!? I can press the Stop Folding button and Start again but I doubt that gives the result I was hoping for...
  18. thanks bro, good explanation and i just wanted to double check this FAH newb didn't forget something.... Patience is a virtue
  19. Got a question, this morning it was folding for like 3 hours and LMG got them points, however not the GPU has status ready but I can't let it run again. Am I doing something wrong, I forget something?
  20. First time started op FAH, let's go to battle against diseases and COVID 19! Joined the LMG team of course :)
  21. Yeah good idea! Perhaps you can build this one and later on kinda see if you can sell stuff to add to your budget on that moment.
