Hi everyone!
I finally have to admit my defeat and reach out to the LTT foryum community at large in hope to untangle this brain & nerve wracking puzzle I have.
I have a Sabrent NVMe enclosure (ref. EC-WPTF) hosting a Sabrent Rocket Gen 4 Plus 2TB SSD (hoping to use it to work indifferently on my photos/videos on my desktop/surface pro 8 )
At the moment, it works:
- flawlessly on my desktop (R9 5950x, win 11 Pro, 22H2, build 22621.1848) (where I initially took the nvme drive from), able to chug it with mywork documents/pictures, everything I need, 500/600MBs transfer speed => no issue.
- flawlessly on my work laptop (lenovo thinkpad 14 EG2, win 10 Pro, build 19045.3086) -> same thing as above: tried & tested just to be sure
BUT, It doesn't work when I plug it *directly (*usb-c / usb-c) into my Surface Pro 8, (i7-1185G7, 16Gb model, win 11 home; build 22621.1848)
- the drive takes ~10/20 sec to power (blue led)
- I get a "Location is not available // P:/ is not accessible // Incorrect function" error
HOWEVER, when I plug it:
- via my lenovo Thunderbolt 3 dock, it works without any issue at full speed
- via a usb hub dongle, with a usb-A to usb-C cable, I can -inconsistently- access it, and transfer at a painful 30/40MBs
TL:DR:
-> it works in every possible way, EXCEPT the 1 use case I rly want it to work = plugged straight into my SP8 that gives me the error message in title.
It doesn't make any sense to me, and I'm at a loss for a solution as the enclosure & drive are definitely -at least partially- functional and I cannot seem to fine anything wrong on the end of my SP8, other than it running win 10 Home vs my 2 other computers running win 10/11 Pro.
Any idea how I could address would be extremely welcome!
