Actually yah haha I cringe when Alex is involved because his stuff is so janky it’s horrific to watch haha but you can’t keep your eyes off it! it’s like those outrage water cooling things they do with massive radiators or chillers and it just goes so sideways haha

Haven’t posted here in a while, however recently I noticed Jake was not on screen as much as he used to be. Leading me to believe he was fired or relegated to a lower position… I hated him when he was first introduced, he seemed dismissive of the content, joking around and never really contributing earnestly to the delivery of the information. boy did that change, once he started taking pride in his knowledge and delivering information on configuration or design it really showed how knowledgeable he was and I loved seeing him on camera. in contrast to Jake, Riley literally makes me laugh every time he is on camera. You can tell when he writes the scripts and delivers the punch lines so well it’s like a comedy show. i spent last weekend at a breakfast joint watching his ces video on the weirdest tech and was literally tearing up laughing to myself and rewinding because it was so clever and funny! anyways, i guess i just wanted to ask if others agree or disagree, either way the new “characters” they have seem to be great but I’d like to see more of Jake and Riley :)

With him passion for Nvida and the current state on the GPU issues etc. I would love for him to make a statement on the mining crew, he had a 4 part series so he can't be that opposed. also his ability to explain the in depth analysis of the situation is very clear, educated and concise. I would love him to do another video with current information and his future projections. Not as a forecast, however more of a statement on the situation we are all experiencing.

Linus did a series a few years back on crypto mining, they left a ton of computers mining for a few years, and would love an update on that LUKE??? LINUS??? PLEASE release a video on that update and if mining is still a thing or feasible to do like you did a few years ago

Hey guys, Its been a while since I posted here but you are the most knowledgeable about everything on the net! Went down a rabbit hole, broke some shit and now am trying to justify a few things by rectifying my mistakes, but maybe I should just scrap the project as I'm in too deep already with fuck-ups. Situation: I have an old IBM X3650 M1 (7979) server, I had wanted to convert this to hosting a decent GPU as its a good plex server or I can do some simple mining while its on. I bought a 1650 as it doesnt require external power and the card was working alright in the server, Due to it being a x16 Pcie slot I had to cut the end to fit it in, however this worked for all intense and purposes (saw some wonky stuff happening with it regarding encoding) (This actually worked) I then wanted to use this card for my Laptop which was a decent Lenovo p50 with an i7 CPU, I purchased the egpu EXP GDC (EXP GDC equivalent), only issue is the laptop didn't have the proper Mini-PCIe slot and only had the standard WiFi slot, so I needed to try to use a power adaptor. There is a 12v power connector and thought that would supply the 1650 with enough through the PCI slot. It didn't work, I then purchased a HDMI-USB-C to connect the PC to the device for an output of power, the fans spun up, I though I had it working, couldn't detect in windows device manager, disabled discrete GPU on Laptop, still nothing, fiddled around with it a bit more... then it stopped spinning up and never worked again. I tried putting it in another computer to see if it still worked, and its dead. not detected, not spinning fans and computer doesnt even know its plugged into a PCI slot. $190 for the 1650 $17.99 for the USB C to HDMI Cable $66.99 for the EXP GDC Now with a dead GPU which I would really like to have back NEXT Steps: In a perfect world I would have just left the 1650 in the server and been happy it was working in a x8 Pcie slot and called it a day. Now I am wondering a few thing and don't want to keep pumping money into this project but if I can get something out of the EXP GDC its not all lost. 1) I have a million different power bricks for several different laptops, and I noticed that the Dell power brick is used for this EXP GDC with the 6-pin connector (This is used for external GPUs) but is pricy, and I have several just not with a 6-pin end, Can I create this from an existing power brick? 1b) If I can just splice a powerbrick and attach it to a GPU I can have several external GPUs powered by these bricks in the server (server doesn't have 6 pin power). 1c) there are 3 lanes of Pcie in the server, has 2CPU so I could add 2 cards to it if I could create the power brick GPU power, 2) Is there a way of making this EXP GDC work with a 12v power plug, it's there and part of the unit, why doesnt it power the PCIe lane? not enough juice? 3) Should I just give up and call it quits after I bricked my card, and invest in a more standard solution IE. new computer with proper power and not my server to mine. Thanks if you have any input, this is the first card I destroyed in my 20+ years of computer work... feelsbadman

Hey guys, it's been a minute since I've logged into this community however after watching the last youtube video Ugliest PC Build Ever, all jokes aside I want to see the comparison with the same hardware VS a PC thats "made properly". I loved the video but it got me thinking... Most computer "geeks" (like myself) have a tid bit of OCD when it comes to computer building and setups. I am the first to say I have a serious issue if everything isn't optimal or clean, or "juicy" as I call it (shameless plug of my build here Gold Rush). But it got me thinking, they basically did EVERYTHING against the computer code during this build "I mean it fits but..." hahaha so, in pure testing how does this shardy build hold up against it's optimal self in a thermal test? Does our OCD actually contribute anything other then aesthetics? if not well then does it really matter? does it really matter if we have too much thermal paste (yes I know he had a video on this its still inconclusive). Anyways I would like them to take this PC (working) against a optimized version to see if it even matters

This could be possible, I was using coollabratory ultra so its very thin metalic liquid. when I delidded the CPU, I applied it to the CPU directly, then to the top of the IHS. There are bare bone mounts available that go straight on the CPU, bit I've never seen them for a GPU.

Thank you so much It honestly took over a year, but I didnt skimp on any detail, each component selected and every millimeter was accounted for in this build. The initial ability to put 2 x 420 Rads in the 750D was my goal, but also to make something I've never seen before Thank you I hope to add some more photos and the final video shortly Ugh, took so long and so much doubt but I did it :) I was given the option of having the paracord gold sponsored to me, and decided that it wasnt what I wanted, so I ordered the last of the MDPC vanilla sands from Germany to California to get custom Sleeved by Lee Harrington from PCJUNKIEMODS. He is the one who did the custom sleeving for me, he even sponsored the black sleeving and cable combs because he liked my build so much. It was great working with him!!! Its an honor to have people enjoy my build as much as I do, I can't even use half of its power but I just stare at it and enjoy its beauty More high res pics coming (when it's sunny in Canada!!) and Ill post my final video thanks everyone for staying tuned!!

I will have some better pics up and would like to post it on the mod forum somehow... As well how can I get this build voted for a mod of the month or something Im proud of my work and the final outcome!
