  1. So ever since I installed my new 3080 today and PSU, I can play about 15 minutes in games before both my displays go black, fans kick into high gear, I can still hear the game and it responds to input. Only thing I can do is hard reboot. I checked all physical connections and they are secure, and the GPU isn't blinking for any power anomalies (a feature of it listed on its webpage). Event viewer shows the following error: The device HID-compliant headset (location (unknown)) is offline due to a user-mode driver crash. Windows will attempt to restart the device 4 more times. Please contact the device manufacturer for more information about this problem. Which lead me down a rabbit hole, finding out that my Hyper X Cloud II headset is apparently PARTLY causing this problem. And I came across this reddit post with the same exact problem, followed the solution to a T but the problem still persists... I even rolled the NVIDIA drivers back to 466.77 from the most current 472.12 Been working on this issue for a few hours and I just need some fresh ideas. EDIT: I even downclocked it about 150Mhz and it lasted a little longer but still eventually crashed. I also tested out the OC vs Silent Bios switch it has, and the silent setting lasts a little longer than usual but still crashes. Afterburner info: (when playing dr:2) 80-90% GPU usage ~65 C ~1850 - 1905 core clock 365 - 370 Watts System Specs: Ryzen 7 3700x Asus ROG Strix x570 E-Gaming 32GB DDR4 3200 RAM Gigabyte Aorus GTX 3080 Xtreme (newly installed) Corsair RM 850W Gold (newly installed) few sata ssd's and 1 m.2
  2. I will also note though, that I have another monitor plugged in via display cable as well that's an Asus 1080p 144hz (non adaptive sync). I will unplug it and see if this behavior continues.
  3. Yeah I just don't get it. Games work great and 0 screen tearing but once I open anything for work it's hitch city for a few seconds then it "levels out"
  4. Win 10 20H2 GTX 1080 Monitor: Asus TUF Gaming VG27B (using Display Port cables) G-Sync enabled via the NVIDIA control panel Adaptive Sync enabled in the monitors settings Drivers: 457.30 (although switching driver versions around did nothing) Issue: Only on opening applications outside of gaming does my monitor have major flickering.. I have confirmed that it's the refresh rate going up and down when opening apps in Windows by opening the monitor menu via physical button and watching the 144hz refresh rate go down to 40,50,60, etc.. and then back up again once I click away onto the desktop from the app I just opened to get the app out of focus. Is this just a setting I have to configure or is it just a normal side effect of having the gsync/adaptive sync capabilities turned on all the time?
  5. My first thought was maybe buy one of these to test without having to take a pc apart.
  6. Corsair RM650 650 Watt 80 Plus Gold ATX Fully Modular Power Supply Correct, JUST the usb-c front side port. Yes I am correct its the proper port as it's the only one on my motherboard for it. Sure can, give me a few minutes to edit this post with pics.
  7. NZXT H710i ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING 32GB Corsair DDR4 3200Mhz RAM Ryzen 7 3700x GTX 1080 The title says it all, when the case's front side usb c cable header is plugged into the motherboard I can't get any power to the PC. With it powered down, my PSU gives off power because I can see the LEDs light up on the mobo even before powering on. It all started today when I wanted to finally get around to seeing why my front usb c port never worked, I wasn't sure if it was a Windows problem or if I just plugged something in to the incorrect port. So I took it open and just looked around, didn't touch a thing, noticed that everything was where it should be. I thought maybe it wasn't sitting correctly in the port, so I took it out, inspected it, saw that it looked clean, and plugged it back in. Then the problem started. Well I just found out if I don't have it plugged in my PC gets power no problem.
  8. Soon I will be building a brand new machine and will need to migrate everything onto this new one as painless as possible. If I use a HDD imaging tool like Macrium Reflect to make an image and restore that image on the new machine (with all new parts, cpu and mobo etc..) Will there be any problems? I'm thinking that taking an image of a machine with a different cpu/mobo will cause problems being restored to a machine with a new cpu/mobo. I don't know why I think there will be driver issues and what not. What's the best way to go about this?
