  1. Interesting, those are some drastic differences. Might consider AIO, I've always been spooked to try out water cooling though. Are there any air coolers you recommend over the Dark Rock Pro 4? Noise level isn't really a concern for me and I know that's what my current cooler prides itself on. Thanks
  2. Alrighty I'll look into that. The guy I bought it off of didn't seem too bright so maybe he applied paste poorly on the cooler contact lol. Thanks for the reply!
  3. I see, thanks for the info. Appreciate the hasty and informative replies, saved me a lot of stress!
  4. As long as there isn't imminent damage from temps like that, I guess I'm not too concerned. What's a baseline temp I should be concerned about? My case is: Rosewill ATX Mid Tower Gaming Computer PC Case Tempered Glass, CULLINAN V500 RGB Thanks for the reply.
  5. I recently bought a rig off a guy and the hardware is far more powerful than what I'm used to. I'm experiencing some high cpu temps while gaming, in the range of low to mid 80s on Modern Warfare and high 80's in intense scenarios on Path of Exile. I'm running these games in 2k. The cpu usually idles at about 50C. Basically I need to know if it's safe to play at these temps for extended periods of time (6+ hours), what the maximum safe temp for my CPU is, if I need a different cooler/cooling setup, and what I should do about it if these temps are problematic. My idle room temp is about 70 if that matters for anything. Here's the specs: I9 10900kf 2080 ti asus rog strix 32GB(3600mhz) G.Skill Trident Z 1tb M.2 Intel 660p 750 gold plus EVGA GA Be Quiet! Rock pro 4 cooler My knowledge about PCs is very limited and I can't seem to find a definite answer anywhere, so please go easy on me. Thanks! :)
  6. My roommate's PC has been experiencing Freezes repeatedly that have only gotten more frequent over time. The freezes are at random, occurring during games or after performing actions such as clicking on links, opening applications, etc. Sometimes the computer freezes and it requires him to completely turn off the rig and turn it back on. Other times it will display a blue screen and most of the time it will display the following error: IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL. He recently got the CPU looked at and fixed by a technician because it was giving him problems with frame rates, so we don't think it's that and I'm not comfortable enough with my thermal pasting abilities to want to switch his processor out with mine. The hardware temperatures appear to be normal. Here's a list of things we have tried: -sfc scan -Clean windows install -Replacement of RAM -Hard Drive replacement (He historically had problems with freezing on a previous build that used the same hard drive) -Fresh install of windows on new hard drive (actually crashed during setup) -Uninstalled and reverted drivers If you guys have any ideas as to what I can do or what you think it is, please let me know.
