  1. I followed all the steps given in the documentations and installed Rockstor, created pools, shares, and then created a samba share which i accesses as per given on this page --> http://rockstor.com/docs/samba_ops.html#from-a-windows-machine Now I am able to view the share on windows in the Network folder (Image 1) When I open UDDHAVLABDE computer, I get this (Image 2) The share that I have created in Rockstor. But, now when I try to open it, I receive this error (image 3) What is the problem and any solutions?
  2. I tried the options related to permissions, but nothing seems to make any difference! And as for using rockstor, I got that recommendation from the sir in your profile pic!
  3. I recently made a NAS with Rockstor as it's OS. After setting everything up as per the guide on Rockstor's website, I created a Samba share which I am now able to locate in my Network Computers list (UDDHAVLABDE). The other listed computers are HOME-PC, which is the pc on which I ma accessing the Samba share on, then there is the LINKSYS11626 which the router that all of the devices are connected to. Now the problem is that, when I open the UDDHAVLABDE (which is the Rockstor NAS) and try to open a foder inside it, it gives me these errors in the image below. To try to check if the problem occurs with even the other devices, i plugged in a USB drive with some files in it to the Router. And when I opened it in the network compters list. Everything worked fine, I was able to copy and delete and paste files from there to the pc and all. So It seems it is something wrong with the configuration of that Rockstor share on the PC or its some access problem on the rockstor nas side? Any solutions for the problem? Thank You!
  4. I have build a Rockstor NAS using the guide on their website. But there is no guide on the website on how to access NFS shares on Windows 10. So, please let me know how to do it? And also, as I am completely new to Rockstor or Linux for that matter, I would like if you explain me how copying files to and from the Rockstor or any other NAS works Thank You!
  5. Actually the problem was that the M/B wasn't detecting the Harddrives, but now i that I tried again, they are detected. Its something I guess wrong with the M/B.
  6. I have a lowpowered Intel CPU + M/B combo that I want to use as a NAS. The M/B just has 2 SATA ports onboard so I bought a cheap IO Crest 4 SATA PCIe SATA Controller. Now, what I want to do is, Install Rockstor on a USB Flash drive, then setup the 3 harddrives that I have, which are connected to the SATA controller in RAID5 in Rockstor. How do I do it? I tried, but the SATA controller is causing some issues or I am not installing the SATA controller correctly! Thank You!
  7. No I am using Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. But I have reserved for Windows 10. So there's that!
  8. So since the last few weeks whenever I insert a DVD the DVD drive, the drive disappears from My Computer. Due to this problem I am not able to open any DVDs and hence not able to plan any of my older games. When I insert a DVD in the DVD Drive in my PC, the DVD Drive seems to work fine as usual, ejects properly, spins properly and also the activity led seems to be working properly but then on the computer screen when I open My Computer and click on the DVD drive, the green loading bar on the address bar of windows explorer keeps loading and at a certain point also detects the DVD but then when I try to open the DVD Drive nothing happens and the drive disappears as I refresh. Could anyone please help me out with my little problem. Thank You!

  10. AntiDot The thing is the instructions for cabeling given in the manual are useless. They ask you to connect the fans from the radiator to the 4x 4pin fan to sata power cable. Which means that you connect the fans directly to the power supply and not to the cpu fan header on the motherboard. What that would lead to is your fans would be spinning on full speed at all times. Which would be quite annoying. What you should do is connect the fans from the radiator to you cpu fan and optional cpu fan header. That way both the fans would get power and speed control, Now what is left is just the pump which you can connect to any other fan header on your motherboard or else if you dan't have a spare header on your motherboard, directly to your power supply using an extension cable(3pin fan to molex/sata).
  11. gollum99 I can't find any in my locality. The ones I found on eBay are like Rs. 1000 per unit and that is insanely high price for a cable. http://www.amazon.in/Silverstone-Tek-Sleeved-Splitter-CPF01/dp/B00B46XKKQ http://www.ebay.in/itm/Silverstone-CPF01-100mm-2x-PWM-Fan-Male-to-4Pin-PWM-Fan-Female-Splitter-/331470222080?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item4d2d2a3300&_uhb=1 The ones that I found were all 3pin splitters, none of them were 4 pin splitters. So that's why I am thinking about making them on my own. What I actually want to ask is if there is some voltage or electronic related stuff that I need to keep In mind before making one and things like what pin corresponds to what?
  12. I am falling short of fan headers on my motherboard, so I need to make some 4-pin pwm fan y splitters using which it will be easier to manage all the fans and pumps in my system and also control them. Could anyone please let me know how can I make them on own, what parts u would be needing. Thank You!
