Looking to try and get some info for a build to use Polyworks. I have an employee that needs to upgrade his current laptop, and I don't want to simply throw a 6 or 8 core CPU when it needs a GPU, and vice-versa. TL;DR - Is Polyworks more CPU intensive or GPU intensive or RAM intensive or all 3?

Unfortunately, no server... If I could get my copy of Win2012 or 2016 for cheap, I'll create it all, FTP-Print-Email all the fun stuff.

Have a client with 10+ Windows 10 desktops, and multiple network printers of different manufactures. Wanting to network printers, and allow access to all printers to all PC's. Without purchasing server license, and setting up (which I would like to do - but they are cheap) what options do I have for drivers-installs?? Do I just go through and statically assign all printer IP's, and go to each PC individually install them?

Looking for suggestions for alternatives for the Logiech G915 TKL version. I cannot seem to bring myself to pay OVER $200 US for one. I saw Cooler Master's SK, but are their any others? Also, do not like clicky switches, more linear/tactile for me. Here is a link to the version I'm talking about. also, doesn't have to be wireless.

Love Ubiquiti products, but never used them personally. Would recommend to anyone, but for cheap route for non-IT, I use TP link.

Use that cable to plug into this ceiling mounted AP, it is powered through the ethernet cable so no need for external power, it comes with it's own PoE injector. If you would like to expand your cabling network, I would recommend this unmanaged swtich. If you want to use the switch, than your simply plug an ethernet cable from your modem into the switch, then you'll run another cable into the AP, and use the others ports for your PC or anything else with LAN capabilities.

They will be here tomorrow, and I'll install them and be sure to update y'all. I did some more research about them to get a better understanding, and I believe that the second CPE can be configured as an AP, but if not, I will run the ethernet cable to a cheap wireless router to serve as an AP for the shop. Not intense gaming, or downloads, just simple music/video streaming will be used. Thanks for the input guys. I will get back as soon as I hang these bad boys and see what happens. They are a great option if everything works out right, because for a price of only $40/e, that is not bad at all.

I recently ran cable through a home. I used a lot of tools to get the job done. Always have the right tools. First, I accessed the area in which I'm going to pull the cable (attic) I then started by cutting a whole in the drywall (there was insulation) I found the location of that wall in the attic - and used a spade bit drill a whole through the top plate I used a steel fish tape and thinly fasted one end of my cable to it and fed it through that hole until my partner (my wife) was able to grab it below Ran the cable across the attic to the other location went back down and cut another hole in the drywall In the attic, I drilled another hole in the top plate and ran into an issue, there was a fireblock (cross board that goes across the studs) I then had to use my 54" drill bit to drill through the fire block Attached a fiberglass rod (fish stick) to the end of the drill bit, then attached the cable (pulled slack and cut it) and fed the whole rods down the whole until my parter grabbed them Terminated the ends, and wallplated them - tested cable using cable tester - done and done with that being said - IT IS NOT AS EASY AS IT SEEMS. You will fight it for a minute on some ends, you'll sweat, and you'll need to take a brake every once in a while. feeding that cable down an insulated wall is difficult, but it can be done! My thinking is though, if I place one at the modem in the house, and then one on the shop, will the second one be the AP for the shop?

Anyone use this or something similar? I have a friends place whose access point is not strong enough to reach the all metal shop that's about 100' away. I want to use one of these to connect from the ISP provided modem to the roof of their house, and another one on the roof of the shop or inside the shop.

As the title suggests, looking into rack mounted, unmanaged switches. Don't need L2 and up switches, nor want the price tags. To be more precise, I am looking for recommendations on unmanaged, PoE switches for a phone network. I am seperating a VoIP system from data equipment.

Got a friend who owns a small business and have several (5+) printers that each user (10+) could use the access to each printer. Instead of installing each printer on each machine by way of IP address, I've been looking a central PC (server-ish) that I install all the printers on, and share each one. Noting the PC name and printer names. That way doesn't sound like a "better" way rather installing each printer individually. What benefit is that way, rather than purchasing a Windows server license, or installing a CUPS - or other open source server software? What I mean by benefit, is that I'm already upgrading all of their data and phone networks, and don't want to impose a $2K+ server build. Also, there are several label printers that are USB only. What would you recommend on getting them on the network? TP link, I know, makes a "print server" that can add those to the network.

As the title "suggests", I am looking at moving away from my Corsair K63 (link) to a lower profile. The sound, speed, and pressure of the Cherry MX Red switches are nice, but the K63 is simply just "very tall." I catch myself straining to grab num keys 1-4 deep into an online battle to swap to the battle ending kill shot from my secondary. The height of the keys are simply too tall, and my fingers trip over themselves like a 13 week old Doberman. Anyways, I am looking for possibly a good membrane, or lo-pro mechanical (Not looking in the $200+ range) if y'all could help!? Thx x100000

The devices primary need is internet access (for employees to view status via cloud), but no LAN access (no need to communicate to other devices). The initial setup here (before I came here) was to add them to their own VLAN to accomplish the goal.

In this case, I can connect this switch to the unmanaged switch to give it access to the network. Now that this Dell is connected to the network (which means internet access) but does the unmanaged switch prevent VLAN's?

All I've done is reset to factory, assigned static IP to switch, created VLAN 35 (literally just create it and named it) and assigned port 1 to VLAN 35 and trunked it. I am not used to the GUI of this Dell, and the CLI commands I've used are not working on this firmware. I think I am just doing everything wrong, and need to go back through technically.

Having some novice issues with VLAN config on a Dell X10XX series switch. Here is my scenario... The switch is placed in a cabinet that will supply internet access to two ports for our maintenance equipment, but I want to set them on a VLAN in order to keep them seperated from our other machines. That switch is supplied via SFP port from another switch. Here is the issue, I have a duplicate switch on my desk that I am testing before I copy config and upload to switch in room (room is very hot/humid) I place gi1/0/1 port on VLAN 35, and I have no internet access. The test switch is connected to the network along with 2 PC's for testing and they both have internet access on all other ports, but if I plug a PC to that port 1, there is no internet access, I can't ping the switch via the PC directly connected, nor can I ping google. What small step am I missing?
