  1. you've tried everything i can think of. I think it's time to retire that card and get a new one.
  2. seems to be a problem with a monitor, have you tried switching that out?
  3. are the 2 8 gigs sticks from the same manufacturer? Do they have the same clock speeds? Are the timings the same?
  4. have you done any malware scans? malware is a very common cause of sudden slow downs.
  5. yea I say you get an iPad pro. There are a lot of decent photo editing apps for free on IOS and you can even get full on Photoshop however you would have to play a subscription and it kinda sucks from what I've heard. especially if your dad uses a iPhone or has experience with IOS this would be a great option, even if he hasn't its very user friendly and he could learn it pretty quickly. I think anything else would be overkill if all he is doing is photo editing, a Ipad should be more than fine.
  6. the 2060 super wouldn't be much of a upgrade (at most a 4% increase in performance) it really wouldn't be worth the cost of buying a whole new graphics card.
  7. Have you power cycled the machine? you should be able to access the bios, if you turn it off and on again and the monitor won't change it is probably a problem with your display, the display cable or the display port(s). If that doesn't work get a windows installer usb and boot to it and get advanced startup options. You should probably reinstall windows which is recommended when you get a new motherboard. Also I don't mean to sound passive aggressive but it is spelled "Ryzen" not "Rizon". Also ryzen CPUs use the AM4 socket not the AM3+ so your cpu is Not a ryzen. good luck man. You'll get it
  8. yea, especially if you are doing mostly machine learning just stick with the quadro.
  9. A quadro RTX 4000 performs way better than a 1660 super in games. I'd say keep your current gpu since the quadro RTX 4000 performs similarly to a 1070 Ti which is a more than a decent card. If you really want the best performance you could just go to a 2080 Ti, I don't recommend it because of the price, but their wouldn't be any bottlenecks.
  10. Try a different display cable, monitor, and display output; if that doesn't work do another graphics card if you can. That's all the ideas I have, good luck man.
  11. the difference is ram timings might be causing the problem. Check the CAS latencies on each of your sticks to see if they match. Different timings will often create instability. Mixing capacities could be the problem but I have a friend running in that config and his works fine, of course it's not ideal but it should work. I'm not sure but I think you can adjust memory timings in the BIOS, see if you can do that.
  12. you could go with a vega 56 and do a bios flash to get performance like a vega 64
  13. Below is the recommended minimum for 4k editing I'd say I'm not really an editor so take this with a grain of salt but this is pretty similar to the LTT video they did on 4k editing on a budget below PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Dr6jGc CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($194.99 @ Walmart) Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 UD ATX AM4 Motherboard ($133.98 @ Newegg) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($105.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($64.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1650 4 GB GAMING X Video Card ($124.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair CX (2017) 450 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($53.98 @ Newegg) Total: $678.92 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-12-28 20:39 EST-0500 For the CPU the Ryzen 5 3600 is a great cpu that will be able to encode things pretty well and handle most anything you throw at it. For the Motherboard I just picked the cheapest X570 board so you don't have to worry about having to update the BIOS on older chipsets. If you don't feel comfortable with such a cheap board I recommend buying a more expensive and higher quality one. As for memory I recommend you buy 32 gigs just because memory is so cheap right now. You can downgrade to depending on how much photage you plan on editing at a time For storage a 2TB hdd should be great at holding all your photage if you need more space just upgrade it if you want fast r/w speeds then get a NVMe drive, that will cost significantly more than a hard drive though. For the video card I recommended the gtx 1650 just because that seems like a popular one among budget editors and it was recommended in the LTT video above. Really any GPU can work for 4k editing But you will want a discrete midrange one if you want smooth performance. For the power supply I just picked the cheapest, most reliable one one the PSU tier list here on the forum. if you watch the video above it will help you decide what type of power you need to edit.
  14. So i'm planning a new pc and I see that a ryzen 7 2700 is only $139 on amazon my current pick of CPU is a Ryzen 5 2600 at $114. Will forking over a extra 25 dollars really increase my gaming performance? or should I shave and use that money somewhere else? By the way my pick of graphics card is a GTX 1660.
