  1. I work in IT as the sole IT specialist for a medium sized distributor. I've got a few for the thread. - Everyone calls anything involving a computer, or the phones, "The System" - You'll overhear someone complaining about something not printing, and someone else yells out their cube "Yeah, Lucroarna must be doing something on the system" - I took over my role, so I had to replace 41 (!!!) PCs with Windows 10 Pro desktops. I have one user who consistently complains that she now has to press the power button to turn on her PC. - I have one user who does not understand how the minimize button works in Windows, and asked if I could remove it, because he doesn't like that he has to click them on the taskbar after minimizing them. - I have a user who loves shortcuts - and always makes them inside of directories to her desktop. She will later delete the shortcut in her directory, which breaks the shortcut on her Desktop. To this day, I still get calls letting me know about the "Shortcut Glitch on the system". - We use a software for all of our inventory management, and it's only accesible via remote desktop. The old IT guy named the shortcut to Remote Desktop after the software. So when people call for issues, they always say they're having an issue with the software, when it's an issue with Outlook inside of remote desktop. Everything we do "in the system" is called "<software name here>". - I recently found out a user uses their work email for everything. Including a bad purchase online, that ended with our exchange being overloaded with spam emails to this one person. After 1,700 emails to one inbox in 10 minutes, I was easily able to convince our company to include new company policies regarding personal use of emails. I am now hated for this travesty - how dare I. - User had an issue with his laptop - was acting slow. I hopped on remotely, and several porn pop-ups came up when opening chrome. He goes "I dunno how those got there, they just come up!". I don't think he realizes these pop ups only come up when you look at porn, and if you're millennial who grew up in the 90's-00's, you know this excuse only worked in that day and age. I'm assuming his kid used it on him at some point. - Phone service goes out, everyone says the internet is going slow, too - Internet service goes out, everyone says the phones are acting weird, too. - I had a user whose file management involved downloading a PDF, saving it to a CD, putting the CD into a jewel case, opening a file cabinet, putting the jewel case inside a file, and locking the file cabinet. I explained that he re-created windows, and showed him how to save these files on the network (As they should be, they are company documentation intended for his job role). He told me it's the same thing but in a different way, and refuses to change. I thought IT would be fun, but it's just funny.
  2. I'm using an Acer XB271HU @2k, I don't experience any issues and easily maintain 60-100 FPS on every game I play - most AAA titles that have come out in the last 2-3 years I can achieve 60 FPS at Very Good @4k resolution on my Television (LG UJ6300) on most games, lately it's been AC Odyssey and DMCV. I'm not currently experiencing any issues with performance - this is the best PC I've ever had really. I just wonder based on the cost of an i9 right now, if it's a good time to buy the CPU and move forward with it for another 5 years (Almost been that long with my 4790k). I could potentially sell my set-up right now in a nice case I used to use (4790k, 970GTX, 12GB DDR3@1666, 1TB HDD, 128gb SSD) and make back some of what I'll lose from my purchase. My hope in an upgrade here would to be able to jump on the next "Best" TI Card from the next series of GPUs from my current 1080TI, and suffer no bottlenecks whatsoever.
  3. 10-4 - Thank you very much. I'm going to go ahead and learn abit about the Ryzen chips. I basically only start learning about hardware when I actually go to buy it - gunna be a long day
  4. How about an i9 9900k for 450? O_o Isn't that a great deal?
  5. I'm doing some comparison shopping right now and the Ryzen 5 is coming up in a lot of my searching - Thank you!~ Here's a question, though. https://www.microcenter.com/product/512483/core-i9-9900k-coffee-lake-36-ghz-lga-1151-boxed-processor# This is currently on sale at the Micro center down the street from me for $250.00 off. Is it in anyway worth purchasing this level of CPU with that high of a discount?
  6. Hello! So I am looking into replacing my current CPU/MOBO, but I'm a little unsure of what a good "bang for my buck" upgrade would be. I currently have an i7 4790k on an m97 Gaming 5 motherboard. I've also got a 1080ti. I'd like to avoid replacing the GPU for awhile, as I think this will hold up for quite a bit. But, I'm not sure what to go with CPU wise. It'll be an expensive upgrade, as I'll have to purchase DDR4 RAM as well. So I'd like to essentially build this around my GPU and make the most of it for the longest amount of time. Any advice would be awesome, Thank you!
