  1. Budget (including currency): 800-1500$CAD (1500$ total MAX) Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Warzone, Apex Legends, Valorant Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Friend of mine wants me to try and get him the best PC I can with around this budget, I'm struggling to find any graphics cards that would be decent even second hand. He has mentioned hes fine with a prebuilt if needed, but I'd like to avoid that if possible (unless it's one with a decent gpu for like 1200 or below where we could shove in better ram, storage, cpu, or whatever it needs)
  2. Yea, I'm not planning on buying the monitor for a few months anyway so hopefully it'll be in by then. I like to plan ahead a lot, but sometimes it backfires, like when I planned to get a Ryzen 2400, and then a week later I see 3rd gen Ryzen coming out. Don't figure this will be one of those situations though. I want something nice and colorful, I figure an IPS panel would work. The colors on my current monitor are very bland, and people in non stylized games (in like the Valorant or Overwatch way) like CSGO or Siege blend into the background. Cant wait to get that monitor though, thanks for the help. Glad you're enjoying yours
  3. Yea I was just reading about the 27GP850, it only just released. I had my eyes on the 27GN850, but wasn't happy about the 350nitt brightness. That's what my current monitor has, and although its a 1080p TN, I want something a bit brighter just because bright = cool. The GP gets it up to 450, and has higher refresh rates and stuff. I might go for that, it's around 650 (I think), but I can probably manage. It's 500$ USD, but I cant find it on any Canadian sites rn, I figure it'd be around there How much of a real difference does decent 1440p make? The only screen I've seen that was above 1080p was a low end 4k tv from Samsung. (i think it was in one of Linus' cheap 4k tv roundups). It was cool, but id rather a 1080p with better colors and all that. I figure this monitor would be that, but 1440p. I do wanna get rid of 1080p Honestly the best looking monitors I've seen are higher end CRT monitors, they look awesome, and with smaller sizes, the ppi is pretty great. CRTs are awesome, I wish they stayed a thing, even as a lower produced niche product
  4. Im looking for whatevers best for my setup, considering my specs. I figure that's 1440p. Id prefer 27", id consider less, or up to 32"
  5. I have a good setup, 2080 Super and Ryzen 7 5800x, but I'm still on my budget 1080p display (Benq XL2411.) With a budget of approximately 600$ Canadian, what is my best choice for monitor? I like the idea of the LG 27GL850-B, but if there are any better/brighter options out there either in my budget, or around it, I'd love to hear about it. I appreciate any suggestions, thanks.
  6. Whoops nvm I just tightened the screw too much lmao thanks anyway
  7. I bought a WD Black SN750 M.2 SSD and when I installed it, I went to check if itd show up in bios, and my mouse and keyboard dont do anything. Temps are still adjusting themselves but I cant do anything in it. If I hit f12 a menu pops up (only option is to hit cancel) and i can move my mouse then, but it immediately gets stuck in place after hitting cancel. I can boot into windows and everything works fine except I dont see my SSD in Drives. I'm using a MSI B450 TOMAHAWK non max. It hasn't had a bios update since I got it but that's because I dont own a flash drive to do it. It says my bios version is E7C02AMS.170 from 03/06/19. My ram has been OCd to 3200 for a long time before this. I have two hard drives besides the SSD, and I know Sata ports 5/6 get turned off when you use the M.2 slot, but my Harddrives are in slots 3/4 so it should be fine there If anyone could tell me a solution (if I need to update bios I can get a flash drive but I'd prefer free solutions at best) that would be great
  8. thanks for mentioning, i didnt even notice it was american $ on the Evo. I ended up getting a surprise extra bit of money and bought the 1Tb WD_Black SSD
  9. I have 120$, I could either get a 1TB SATA SSD, or a 500gb WD_Black M.2 SSD WD_Black M.2 Samsung SATA both are on sale. I currently have 2 hard drives, I only need about 1tb for my main things, so thats why I was thinking about the Samsung SATA SSD, but the WD_Black seems way faster. The main thing I wanted was a faster boot drive, since my current boot drive is a hand-me-down hard drive thats been in use for over 10 years. I'm not sure what one to get, the WD_Black speeds seem like heaven, but having more stuff be faster is also good. Which would be my best choice of action? (or if theres a better deal or something, I'm open to suggestions)
  10. but they are good enough for a system, not overly loud or anything, right? I'm fine with the RGB tax, because I'm a sucker for good lookin' RGB as long as the product isn't terrible in every other aspect
  11. https://www.newegg.ca/corsair-co-9050072-ww-case-fan/p/N82E16835181130?Item=N82E16835181130 I was looking at these fans because of the sale, and they look neat, honestly. I feel like I should go for them because even if I got the cheaper be quiet fans, I wouldn't be able to afford anything else with the savings, really.
  12. yep I'm planning on all of that, just waiting for the money lol (along with a new cpu so I'm not slightly bottlenecked) just wondering what to do first with the money i have now. Looking at it all, I still want decent quality fans, rgb or not. If I did that, I'd only be able to get fans, and be a bit short on ram or a good enough SSD. So I feel like I might as well spend the extra bit for the bright lights, since I can't afford anything else along with the lesser fans anyway
  13. I'm upgrading my pc. I have 130$ I have one exhaust fan and thats it currently, so I'm upgrading fans would it be worth it to buy cool looking (and presumably good quality) corsair fans for all my money or should I buy a few cheaper fans and spend the rest on an SSD or something?
  14. my computer is certainly hotter than it should be, so i'm probably gonna get some case fans for now. Only problem with SSDs are, I'm a "go big or go home" type of guy and I'd like to buy a big one to completely take the swap over, but I also have 3tb of info I don't wanna lose. (also i have no clue how to transfer files from one storage device to another, or if it's even possible)
  15. yea the 2080s was a swift decision during a sale.
