  1. So, recently I upgraded my old GTX 750 OC to a Gigabyte Windforce 1660 TI OC. I got in love overclocking my gpu and squasing all the performance out of it. (It feels really nice especially when you game on a low spec PC) So I decided to take the 1660 to it's limits. Although what I have noticed is a very big variation in the performance provided by my overclocks. (some bigger clocks would decrease performance in some cases) I've used a bunch of benchmarks to see the results I get and it got a bit confusing because values would sometimes actually decrease with the overclock. For this, I've used the base settings as an refference and 4 OC profiles in a increasing order. Profiles : Base : +0 Core Voltage 100% Power Limit Temp. Limit : 83* C +0 Core/Memory Clock OC 1 +100 Core Voltage (max) 123% Power Limit (max) Temp. Limit : 89* C (max) +120 Core Clock (setting recommended by MSI OC Scanner) +500 Memory Clock OC 2 +1000 Memory Clock OC 3 +1500 Memory Clock (I am amazed how this didn't destabilized things) OC 4 (Seeing that everything went ok so far I decided to ramp up the Core Clock to check stability and amazingly I had no problem) +130 Core Clock Benchmarks: Kombustor : (GL) msi-01 1080p - 2054 (34fps) base - 2208 (37fps) 1 - 2201 (37fps) 2 - 2212 (37fps) 3 - 2207 (36fps) 4 *DECREASE* (VK) Furmark-MSI 1080p - 4165 (69fps) base - 4595 (76fps) 1 - 4822 (80fps) 2 - 5188 (86fps) 3 - 5150 (85fps) 4 *DECREASE* (GL) Furmark-Donut-5200MB 1080p - 1370 (23fps) base - 1486 (25fps) 1 - 1561 (26fps) 2 - 1665 (28fps) 3 - 1666 (28fps) 4 Assassin's Creed Odyssey Benchmark 1080p/V-sync off/ FPS Limit off/ Graphic quality Very High/Adaptive quality off/AA High - 63(avg) - 23(min) - 100(max) base - 63 - 23 - 99 1 - 66 - 27 -100 2 - 63 - 25 - 90 3 - 65 -29 - 101 4 So after this results my questions are: * Can a bigger overclock decrease performance rather then increase it in some cases? * Any recommandations on a better OC configuration? * I've also run a stress test and I've noticed my Voltages decreasing and the Core clocks simulatenously slowly but I guess that's just the GPU protecting itself from overheating. Correct me if I'm wrong. * Temperatures were around 60-70* C for Kombustor Benchmarks and 55-70* C for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, so I don't think thermal throttling occurs. * The GPU is connected to a Pcie 16x 2.0 unfortunattely, along with an i7-4790 that clocks at 3.78 and 16Gb Dual-Channel DDR3 Ram. Apart from the Pcie are there any major bottlenecks? Thanks for the time you spent reading this and if you're still here you are a really good person! Peace!
  2. Hello there! I am currently running an I7-4790 (non-k) 3.6ghz on my MSI H81M-P33 V1 with 2x8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz RAM with the 1.10 version BIOS. I've seen a lot of talk around the internet of overclocking non-K CPU's and RAM with custom versions of BIOS, but I can't seem to find an solid source to offer me all the info that I'm looking for. *So firstly, if I actually manage to do this and somehow achieve my overclocking "locked" components dream, will it be worth all the fuss? *Secondly if anyone has info on this matter or suggestion I would like to hear it. *I know this topic might be stupid, but I'm just looking for more knowledge anyways.
  3. Thanks for the advice and for taking some time into doing an research. I guess I'll just try an VPN.
  4. Sorry, forgot to mention i restarted the PC before taking the screenshot so the "start time" is actually when it continued to download. Anyways, thanks for your time I'll check for a VPN.
  5. So.. Is there any way to find out if this is the case? Also torrent speeds are way faster and stable than steam, although I don't know if there's a difference between those and steam downloads.
  6. Hello there, I am writing this because of a very annoying problem that I have when downloading games from steam. I've already looked on the web for fixes and nothing seemed to work so I guess this is my last resort. Whenever I try to download games from steam my download speed hits somwhere between 3-20mb/s for a few seconds and starts droping down. I live in Romania, I tried changing the download server and everything there is to be tried on the internet. Speedtest by Ookla : Youtube : Steam:
  7. Yeah actually the PSU was 33.84 Euros and the Ram 19.04 . As I said I'm very tired and math is so annoying when you are tired. ?
  8. Hello there, I got motivated to keep my first pc alive and I'm looking for new components so: Actual specs : MB :MSI H81M-P33 Military Class IV CPU :Intel I7-4790 3.6GHZ GPU :Nvidia GTX 750PH 1GB DDR5 HDD :Toshiba 1TB 7200rpm HDD External HDD :Freecom MD Classic 3.0 500GB (Using it for stocking "miscelleanous" things xD) PSU : some weird brand 500W PSU RAM :8GB DDR3 1600Mhz 1xStick What I plan to change/add : GPU :XFX AMD Radeon RX570 RS 4GB (161.80 Euros) SSD :Kingston A400 120GB SATA III (20.09 Euros) RAM: 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz (19.04 Euros) PSU :nJoy Agon 600W 80+ (33.84 Euros) - Total Cost = 234.77 Euros - * What would you change/add? * This is the first time I'm upgrading a PC and all the options out there can get quite confusing so I decided to ask for others opinion * I'm looking to make this PC handle gaming and production tasks like FL Studio, After Effects, Photoshop for about another 3yrs at least (Going to college yay) * You can expand the budget up if there's some better option for relatively better buck for performance ratio. * I'm also into overclocking so you can take that in consideration too. * There's a possibility that sometimes in the close future I will invest in a full system(GPU,CPU,RAM,etc) water-cooling loop. * Sorry for the typing errors I'm still perfecting my English and I'm also death tired. ;( * I'm also kind of okay with 30fps 1080p gaming or even with 720/900p gaming (Low Spec Gaming for Life ?)
