  1. After pressing F10 and Enter (to confirm it) your PC should just reboot and go into windows. If not there's a problem we don't know about. Probably nothing to worry about
  2. I think we all aren't sure as to what you need help with. My first response was in regards to the almost 60C that it showed. But if you're asking what that screen is in general, it's the BIOS or UEFI. You can imagine it being one of the most basic management areas. If you don't know what to do with it, just press F10 and leave it. Then boot into Windows
  3. Which cooler are you using and have you checked that you applied the thermal paste correctly? Did you remount the cooler, just in case the mounting pressure is off? And another maybe kinda funny mistake: did you remove the plastic foil on the cooler?
  4. Hey there, I'm kinda stuck right now as I'd need a driver board for my LM238WR1-SLA1 display but I can't seem to find any at all. To give an example of roughly what I'm looking for: This is what I used in my last Side Panel with some old ass 4:3 19 inch display I got for free. I'm doing an LCD-Side Panel Mod, just in case anyone wonders why I'd need something like that. While I have the original power supply, controller etc. of the original monitor, it's power supply is broken and I don't have the skills or means necessary to even think about fixing it. Also the original circuit boards are way to large to fit in my case. Maybe anyone of you has any idea where I could find one or maybe even know which I'd have to use. Sincerely Timo
  5. You can get a loan CPU by AMD which you'll have to give back after 10 days. With it you should be able to update the bios. Also you can keep the cooler they send it with. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100 Last abstract
  6. Looked it up on Trustpilot and the positive reviews seem kinda fishy. Scamadviser also isn't too sure about this one https://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/buy-keys.com
  7. It really depends on the game you're playing and at which resolution. If you're playing Crysis remastered at nightmare 4k or whatever I wouldn't be surprised.
  8. So, with the Bios 2103 modded via Coffeetime I managed to get the following abomination: When maxing out everything regarding power/voltage/current delivery in bios I still only get 3.3ghz max under load. When using Intel XTU I can decrease the CPU Voltage Offset to -0.465 and get a stable 4.6 all-core under load. That's with an in bios offset of 0.250 which results in 1.28v according to the bios and HWMonitor. With some more tweaking I even got an unstable all-core 4.9ghz No freaking idea what's going on but hey, for now it works. I go for a more cautious clock/offset until I know what's going on but until then I can use most of the 9900k's power which is pretty nice.
  9. Already did that but maxing out everything didn't do anything Well yeah, I was prepared for some caveats but this is just way to much to even remotely justify it. A 6700k@4.8 vs 9900k@3.2 for 350 bucks is far from worth it and that's why I absolutely want it to work in terms of performance. I don't even care about the Ram, I just want proper clocks. Thanks man!
  10. If you insist that that's the problem I'll grab my Z170 Pro Gaming without RGB which currently has my 6700k in it and will share the result with you tomorrow. I highly doubt that that is the problem as it's essentially the same board, just with and without five RGB LED's.
  11. I added a second link which has the same board (without RGB) and another 9900k but it's in German. He used Coffeetime instead of reevlays tool, flashed the chip via Linux not via Windows and also got to 5ghz without any trouble (as can be seen in that blog).
  12. While I wasn't expecting the full boost etc I'm 0.4ghz even under the base clock which I certainly did not expect. And it seems that others do not have this problem: https://www.pcbuildersclub.com/en/2018/11/intel-core-i9-9900k-runs-on-z170-motherboard-with-5-5-ghz/ https://www.computerbase.de/forum/threads/erfahrungsbericht-9900k-auf-z170-mainboard.1858100/
  13. Update: Together with @unclewebb wo really helped me out, I managed to find a way via Intel XTU to trick the CPU into thinking it's undervolted while it's actually, which allows it to draw more power. Enableing SVID is crucial as without it will never even achieve these clocks. Setting the CPU Voltage Offset to -0.465 in XTU allows me to get an all-core of 4.6 in Cinebench and a score of over 4600. Anything higher will be to much for my air cooler. Thanks webb! Original Post: Hey there, my 9900k on my Asus Z170 Pro Gaming Aura only runs at 3.2Ghz at mid/upper 60°C and a VCore of 1.28 according to HWMonitor during an all-core Cinebench R20 run (giving me ~3200 points instead of ~4800 on my MSI Z370-A Pro). AI Suite 3 gives me "Floating point division bey zero" errors while showing the same data. What's even weirder is that when idle or light load it boosts up to 4.5-4.8Ghz. Changing the voltage doesn't do anything. AI Suite gives me a power draw during load of around 105w (HWMonitor not working, 6w). On the Z370 it gives me a power draw of 160-170 (via HWMonitor). Also only one ram channel works. If I put more than 2 sticks in it won't post. Sticks are working fine if switched or on other boards and worked fine on the Z370 board. Works fine with Bios 2103 Coffeetime I really hope anyone knows what to do in order to get those clock to a reasonable level. Sincerely Timo System:
  14. Hi there, as I found it very hard to get useful information about the socket repair service which Asus and other manufacturers offer I want to share my experience with it. Prolog: One or two months ago I purchased a broken Asus X99-A USB 3.1 along with a 5820k thinking that I could repair it. At least two pins where bend after the original owner dropped his CPU while replacing the thermal paste. Sadly, I didn't manage to properly bend them back and after a few days of trying and a few successful boots and even more failed boots (at least ten times more fails, when I managed to make it work the best) I gave up and decided to ask Asus. The error code was always 00 All information are for Germany and I don't know what the prices and availability in other countries is. RMA'ing: After having quite a lot of trouble finding the proper links etc. and directly calling their support (and some foreign E-Mail support guy telling me I'd lose my warranty if I bend the pins of an out of warranty product back) I settled on these: https://rma.asus.com/de along with: https://www.asus.com/support/article/568/#Goto05 After filling in the form 3 times as I wasn't sure if it worked as I didn't get any response for a few days I finally got the mail containing the stuff for sending it to the repair center - which is in Czechia. The morning I got the mail I send it on Asus' cost via Express International (13 Euros or so) to them. A week goes by and I get this mail: A few more days go by and I get the board send back with a swapped socket working as it should. Sadly they didn't sent back the retail box in which I sent it to them but I got a new standard brown box containing the serial number etc. a same sticker, basically the same as the original one Epilog: A month goes by and so far I didn't receive any bill whatsoever. Sadly I managed to either brake the CPU with my OC or the board with too much mounting pressure so I'll have to use my 6700k again until I find the motivation to look for the error. The error code is once again 00 If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer! Regards
  15. With the money I'd have to spend on that X79 mainboard I can get an Asrock Pro4s, 6700k, Thermalright Macho X2 from a friend and the RAM I already have lying around. I guess that means that my mobo is broken, isn't it?
