  1. Thanks for the advice. Will the 5700x3d work on a b450? I don't mind waiting a bit. The graphics card was my first concern. Again, thanks!
  2. How's it going y'all. hope the holidays were good to everyone. I have a question about upgrading. My current build is about 4 years old now and is starting to show it's age. I have a ryzen 3600 with a MSI 1660TI. My motherboard is a gigabyte b450 wifi edition. I have 48 gigs of ddr4 ram. My PSU is a Corsair 850x. I know that I need to upgrade my GPU and CPU to keep up. I have seen a 6800xt used for $500.00 (Canadian). Then I saw the 7800xt (new) from another seller for $700 (Canadian). What is the best option for now? I'd like it to last maybe 3 years before needing to upgrade again. I was looking at a used 5900x CPU for around $300(Canadian) as well. Any advice would be appreciated.
  3. I just wanted to thank everyone. It's nice to be able to get some advice from fellow PC builders. I found used 6800xt(s) used for between $550 and $600 Canadian (rubles). They are still under warranty according to the sellers. Is this a decent buy?
  4. I live in Toronto Canada. I have no problems switching to AMD. Will it require a different motherboard or anything?
  5. I built a PC about 3 years ago. I have a Ryzen 3600 CPU with a MSI 1660ti. I have 48gb of ddr4 ram. My monitor is an Acer 1080p 75hz display. I am finding that when I try to max out some games I don't have enough VRAM. I am debating whether I should upgrade my GPU to a 3060 12gb or the 3070ti 8gb. I don't game online at all and I play a lot of open world games. Some titles are red dead redemption 2 and Wildlands. Also I like playing the far cry series. What card is ideal for me if I plan on playing 1440p eventually. I have no plans on 4k gaming.
  6. Yup, thanks for all the help. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B01G7DFGWK?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image
  7. Hi everyone, hope you are all safe and healthy. I have a question about my rgb strips. I have two in my build that I picked up off Amazon about 2 years ago. It is connected to my psu and is 12v. I was wondering if I can connect them to my motherboard so it syncs with my rgb fans and motherboard rgb.
  8. Took my PC to a have diagnosis done and they said it was the memory. They were 2 brand new modules. So I replaced them started up the PC and right after bios I got a kmode thread exception not handled. The bsod seems to bounce between kmode thread exception not handled and system thread exception not handled. I called him and he said bring it in again today. Is there anything I can say to him? Could it be the Mobo? Like one of the slots? What else can cause these two codes? Any advice. The PC sad is empty. I can't even boot from USB to install windows without one of these bsods.
  9. Thanks. That's what I thought so I'm taking the PC to the retailer because they are all still under warranty.
  10. Purchased and installed new ddr4 memory. Still cannot install windows 10. I get to the bios logo and then it tried to install windows (I see the windows logo) but then bsod...system thread exception not handled and then it reboots and repeats doing this. Can it be the graphics card? Or the CPU? PSU? These are all that I have left to eliminate. Not sure what to do.
  11. I that that too so I took out the SSD and formatted it. Nothing works. I either get a page fault error or system thread exception not handled.
  12. I was thinking the same. But with the virus going around nobody wants guests. I'm picking up some new ram tomorrow and I'll try that. Worst case is I have more RAM.
