  1. Back to my previous point, login to the router and see what you're line is synced at dude. You could have a lot of noise on the line also which would cause the speeds to degrade, ultimately if you are paying for 14meg and not getting it phone your ISP again. Demand a reduction in price or that they come and fix it properly. Without actually being there to do a lot of the testing my advice is limited so apologies for that.
  2. Many environmental factors when you're using WiFi, especially 2.4GHz band. Can you connect to your router using an ethernet cable and see if you get the same speeds?
  3. If you haven't got cable (Virgin Media here in the UK) your speed is entirely dependent on how far away from your local exchange you are. Theoretically yes, ADSL2+ can get speeds of up to 24Mbps, this will only be achieved if you lived right next to the exchange. Can you log into your router and check what speed the router is synced at? You'll probably find it's around 1meg faster than what you're currently seeing "real world".
  4. So.. I have a HP 24f monitor, spec sheet says 60hz but if you look a little closer you can see it does officially support 75hz. I go into Display properties, change my refresh rate to 75hz and the monitor accepts it, the blacks look a little odd but this is fixed by tweaking the black level in settings. Now although the monitor accepts the refresh rate, and when I go to image info on the monitor it says it is running at 75hz, testUFO.com still only reports a 60hz refresh rate, any idea why? I'm using HDMI and my old Acer laptops Intel HD Graphics 520 . Thanks in advance.
  5. Might be a long shot but do you have a VPN set to automatically connect when you log in? Could be that your internet is running over that connection. Long shot I know but I've seen stranger things! You could also use a network monitoring tool to see if there's an app in the background running hammering your bandwidth. Good luck!
  6. Hi, 5 of my users have these laptops and two of them needed replacement wireless cards. Simply updating the drivers or reinstalling Windows didn't help the problem. Luckily enough you can pick up a half decent Intel mini pci-e card off Amazon for around £20. As long as you have some experience taking a laptop apart it's easy enough to do yourself. Hope you get it working!
