Hello, everybody! I am building a retro 486 gaming PC and the CERAMIC cpu I bought has some old thermal paste on it. Will rubbing it off with alcohol do? Is it possible that I will damage the chip somehow?

Hello, everybody! I am trying to install a 2.5" ide hdd in my pc using an adapter to sata + power. I want to use it with Ubuntu Server CLI. Although the installer detects the disk, my hard drive isn't among the BOOT DEVICES when I hit f9 on the post screen. This means that I won't be able to boot into it after os is installed. Please help me.
