  1. I've figured it out... the Wi-Fi adapter in my laptop only supports the 1.73 max link speed when the channel width is set to contiguous 160MHz. Separated non-contiguous 80 MHz (or 80+80 MHz) configuration isn't supported. The S21 does support the 80+80 config. My router does not support contiguous160MHz.
  2. Except I'm getting the correct speed with my phone on WiFi.
  3. Hi All, So earlier today, I received an e-mail from Comcast stating my internet speed was being increased from 300 to 400 Mbps. I restarted my router/modem combo and tested the speed on my laptop; it was around 280Mbps. I then tested it on my phone; it was 370 Mbps, which is correct. I had thought that maybe my account didn't update or something, but this proves that it did. I can't figure out why I'm not getting the upgraded speed on my computer. My router is a TP-Link Archer CR700. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 7586 which has an Intel Wireless AC 9560, which according to Intel's website, has a max speed of 1.73 Gbps. I wouldn't think this network card would be a bottleneck since I'm nowhere near the max speed. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S21 (not plus or Ultra). What I've already tried: -Restarted computer -Disabled then re-enabled network card -Ran ipconfig /renew & ipconfig /flushdns commands I'd greatly appreciate any help you can provide.
  4. Thank you so much for your reply. I'm not sure of the read speed of the the flash drive; all I know is that it's USB 3.1 Gen 2. The USB ports on my computer are USB 3.0 and the drive I'm transferring from is a Western Digital BLUE SATA 3 SSD. Thanks again!
  5. Hello, I seem to be experiencing slow USB file transfer speeds. I have a Dell Inspiron 7586 laptop. It has two USB Type-A 3.0 ports. From what I understand, USB 3.0 is supposed to have a maximum transfer speed of 600 MB/s; however, I seem to be getting a maximum of about 50 MB/s (averages about 25 MB/s). I'm transferring files to/from a SanDisk USB 3.1 Gen 2, 128 GB flash drive. I was wondering if this flash drive is backwards compatible with USB 3.0; if it is, I have no idea what's causing this. I've already tried selecting "better performance" in the device policy settings. This made no difference. If you need further information, please don't hesitate to ask. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time!
  6. Of course, 15 minutes after posting this, the issue seems to have resolved itself somehow.
  7. Last night, I updated my laptop to the official release of Windows 11. Now, for some reason, certain sites are extremely slow to load; particularly YouTube won't load 1080P video, sometimes not even 720P. I know it's not my internet connection because when I run a speed test, I'm getting 200+ Mpbs. I'm hoping the fix is as simple as changing a setting somewhere. I just don't know what to do. I can always go back to Windows 10, but I'd prefer not to. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  8. I did double check all the power settings. I didn't do a clean install of Windows because quite frankly, I feel I shouldn't have to on a brand new laptop. If the HP software was the issue, all the more reason to return it. I wouldn't want to do business with a manufacturer that would put what is essentially malware on my computer. I brought it to FedEx this morning.
  9. I bought a customized HP Pavillion 15z laptop which was delivered a few days ago. At first everything was working fine. Then Windows Update found a bunch of updates for the installed drivers so I figured I should install them. Boy was that a mistake. After I did that, the computer ceased to have the ability to enter sleep state or perform a proper shut down. The screen will turn off but the computer will remain on. I have to force shut down using the physical button, which I know is not good for the SSD. I did some research and found out the the audio driver installed on this system is known to cause sleep/wake issues. So I ran the powercfg /energy command to see if that driver had any requests and it did, AT FIRST. I restarted the computer (because for some reason that works fine), and ran the command again. The request wasn't there so I tried putting it to sleep, thinking the issue was solved, but to my disappointment, it still wouldn't sleep. I ran the command again. Still no sleep prevention requests. I also tried all usual troubleshooting steps: disable fast boot, turn off hybrid sleep, disable hibernation altogether, rollback Realtek Audio Driver, etc. I'm returning this POS to HP. The purpose of this post is to warn others not to buy this laptop.
