  1. There's no such thing as a 1660 Max-P, unfortunately. I think what you meant is that is has a full class 1660 in it and not a Max-Q. It can be built with a 1050, a 1650, or a 1660 Ti and none of them are Max-Q design.
  2. Not a ton, it's about 10% faster and only because they just clocked it higher. a 960M is still just an 860M just faster.
  3. My previous laptop had a i7- 4720HQ and a 960M, kind of the same scenario.
  4. This laptop doesn't have "ok" battery life, it has amazing battery life. It easily matches the batter life of the Lenovo x270 I use for work which has equal the battery capacity but has an i5-7300U in it which is a 15W 2c/4t CPU and has a much smaller display. The only reason it is seen as "slower than intels offerings" is just like Linus explained. Intel gives kickbacks to OEMs for putting their more expensive CPUs in cheaper devices. So a $1000 AMD laptop will have a "weaker" CPU to a $1000 Intel laptop only because Intel uses shady business practices and has been for the last decade or so just to undercut AMD.
  5. There isn't actually any fins on the exhaust port. The small fins that protect the grill from getting damaged are just really thing piece of plastic with little depth. I sometimes will have my hand sitting further back, but not all the time so yeah it isn't a big deal, it should just exhaust out the left instead. If you look at it closely you can see that there isn't fins, but it definitely looks like it at first glance. Also I've taken the entire thing apart and have see the inside of the chassis so I can confirm that way too.
  6. I bought the Best Buy version a bit over a month ago and have been waiting for a good review and this one was pretty lack luster. I've enjoyed it while I've owned it. There battery life if phenomenal for doing everyday tasks. My biggest complaint has been fan control, more specifically ASUS's terrible Armour Crate that comes pre installed. You get 4 options that control the CPU, GPU, and Fans and they are "Windows", "Silent", "Balance", "Turbo", and "Manual". But Kurio, you said 4 options and then listed 5! Well that's because "Manual" does absolutely nothing but pester you with and overclock warranty prompt for the GPU every time you change a setting and hit apply. The only way to make it run quietly is to put it in "Silent" which drops your clock speeds to 1.4Ghz. This mode is completely acceptable for everyday tasks and then some, but Balanced mode which gives you the majority of your horsepower back also let's the fans do whatever they want, where Turbo just cranks them. Choosing the "Windows" mode allows you to just adjust your regular power options through Windows, but still no fan Control. Linus said it games quietly, but unless I have a defective product, that isn't true at all. The thin fans in here get loud because they spin at something like 6000-7000 RPM. On top of that, he didn't even mention the exhaust solution on her. What looks like a speaker grill between the keyboard and screen is actually air vents that pull air in. There is another on the underside, then one exhaust out the back in the WSAD side of the laptop and then one OUT OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE LAPTOP. Yup! You know that spot that you're going to out your mouse? Yeah, that spot becomes pretty freaking toasty.
