Hey so, i recently bought a PC (No i don't build them, yes i am a beta, but i genuinely don't care about building my own) And i recently did a Bios update to version 2406 (My mobo is a B450-F Gaming, by ASUS).
I am wanting to upgrade my processor (R5 2600x) to a Ryzen 7 3700X.
My question is, do i have the correct Bios version to just install the CPU? I generally hate going into bios. I am really not confident with it.
Thanks for the help! -
@Herman Mcpootis it looks like a solid build. But the one thing I won’t touch is the bios. Outside of booting from my USB to put windows on. I try not to go there.
its super intimidating and I dislike the idea of accidentally messing something up and not being able to put it back, or worse yet, bricking the mobo

@lee32uk
I might have to take your advice on that. The 3700x's price is around the same as the 2700x's.
Though i am wondering how hot it will run. I hope the Dark rock 4 can hold it.
Will they be a noticeable difference between both CPU's? -

2700X's have been going for $200-250 and Vega 56 has been going for $280-300 for like a year now. I'd try to skip the slow 2TB drive, pick up a 1TB M.2 for about the same price(of both) and if you need more storage down the road you can always add drives.
Also brand new AMD cpus and gpus which are going to be significantly faster in every single way are coming out in just 2-3 days, please don't pay MSRP for previous gen parts.
At this price point, I'd recommend to fit a monitor upgrade to 1080p144 or 1440p144 in somewhere. Even with a 2600x and a slower gpu, I think you'd be much happier with getting more of your performance in games out into the physical space with a monitor which can actually display the frames you're getting than pretty much bottlenecking all of the parts you actually interact with.
Yeah maybe getting a better monitor would be a good idea.
And oh really? I mean sure i can wait for the 3000 series to come out, but again i only have around £1000, so hopefully the price isn't bank breaking.
The Vega 56 seems promising. Though if the Vega 64 drops in price, i may get that instead. -
Hey everyone, how's your day?
So basically i am building a PC using PCPartPicker, i have chosen some components and am wanting everyones Input on if i am going wrong somewhere.
I am wanting to build a PC primarily used for gaming 1080p,60fps, max settings. I am not really interested in 4k. I have a budget of £1000, but i can stretch to £1100 if needed. Though i'd like to be around the £1000 mark.
I will post my PCPartPicker link, and i'd like everyones opinion.
My main questions are 1. Is this Solid? 2. Can i save money anywhere? 3. 1700x or 2700x for the £85 price difference?
Thanks, have a great day.

you should be fine with the 650w, just get a reliable power supply
can't help you much with choosing one, there's a PSU tier list thread somewhere
I am looking at a corsair tx650m
And thanks for the reply dude -

I'm running a 650W PSU if that helps you decide.
Oh nice man
Yeah it's just been hell deciding.
And nice man, ill look at a few more comments, hopefully i won't need to spend more than i need to. My budgets at its max -
Hey everyone.
So i've been reading countless threads about the wattage i will need for a system i'll be buying parts for tomorrow. The specs are as follows
Ryzen 7 2700x
Vega 56 Pulse
16gb DDR4 Corsair Vengence 3000mhz
2tb HDD240gb SSD
Cryorig H7 Air cooler
So as i said, i am reading threads and forums and it seems like no one can agree on the PSU needed to power a system like this.
Fan boys say 750w while others say 500,550 and 650w.
My question is, can i actually buy a decent PSU like a CorsairTX 650w and be okay? Or do i need to have a 750w PSU.
Thanks!
