  1. Thank you for your response. Very randomly, in most cases ive noticed during gaming (CS GO, Fortnite, LoL, WoW, COD etc). Im really struggling to pin point what piece of hardware is causing this...
  2. Any ideas after those tests? Really not sure what to do...... Appreciate any help.
  3. I ran it one more time for a shorter period and once again didnt get anything.
  4. I have run the same test for 20 mins and returned 0 errors. Attached results. Completely unsure of what my next move is or how i go about fixing this. Any help towards the resolution is much appreciated.
  5. No problem. Will do. I have downloaded the latest. What test would you like me to run? The power test again? The other options are attached. Thank you.
  6. Thank you for your input. Regarding the PSU test, the results were from a troubleshooting application (OCCT) - please see Another member noticed a power spike. This is the only thing pointing towards PSU. As for your comment on CPU, i was told these are normal temps but perhaps that is a good observation about the difference in temps. What would you suggest i do from here? Thank you kindly.
  7. Appreciate both your responses. I noticed this occur not long after i purchased it. I have a background in IT (Cyber Security particularly) so i wanted to figure out what is was. After years of troubleshooting, testing, forums etc. No one is able to pin point it. Some forum threads around this: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/windows-10-pc-freezing-randomly-since-bought-in-2016.3483402/ https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/suspected-psu-fault-occt-error.3489370/ I cant begin to explain how many threads ive made and the amount of troubleshooting ive done to try pin point the issue. From replacing SSD, reinstalling Windows, RAM tests, GPU tests, CPU tests, temperature monitoring etc. I have come down to a process of elimination starting with the PSU then MOBO. If that all fails, i dont know what else to do. Any further help would be really appreciated. Thank you.
  8. Hi, I need to replace my PSU as I suspect it is causing random freezes forcing me to hard restart every now and then. I have done numerous testing to all hardware components and this seems to be my only suspect. I am not very knowledgeable on PSU’s and was wondering what I need to be looking out for when replacing it to ensure all my other hardware components work and it is simply a straight swap. I am also wanting to try and kill 2 birds with one stone by purchasing something that is going to future proof me for when I upgrade my MOBO, CPU and GPU within the next 6 months. Is anyone able to assist with what I need to be looking out for or even better, suggest a PSU? https://imgur.com/a/2WgamPa#08oE4H3 Thank you. 9. Come to think of it, could these freezes that happen every blue moon, damage any hardware? I seem to just force restart and im back on my way and dont think it would harm anything else but im not 100% ?
  10. Thought so.....Well yeah im gonna look at changing my PSU in the near future and hope my issue is resolved. I'm not greatly worried about it at this stage as the worst that can happen is if im in the top 10 of a Fortnite game, i dont win if it freezes on me hahhaah. Thanks again for your help.
  11. Thanks for the info. I notice my build would be happy with 600-650 after viewing hardware monitors and seeing how much power my hardware actually requires. Which makes me think, why are there crazy PSU's with like 1000+W's? Whats the point if all these rigs would happily run off no more than 700?
  12. I was leaning towards a fully modular ATX 750W Thermaltake 80+ Gold....Thoughts?
  13. Couldnt agree more. It's had its fair run, time for an upgrade anyway i believe. Now to find out what to replace it with that would be just a simple straight swap out. Will gladly take suggestions as im not very familiar......
  14. Thanks all. I guess ill have to start the process of elimination and hope its either the PSU or MOBO.
  15. Hi all, These are reading from HWMonitor after a few hours of running. Do these voltages/power readings looks odd? Or anything else for that matter? Thank you.
  16. Well im not quite sure yet. That'll be my next search. Most likely start a thread to get some guidance from more experienced users as im not sure about the specifics of replacing it.
  17. Thank you. No freeze during GPU test but i will try a longer one. I definitely believe it is PSU or cabling as nothing else shows any signs of faults. Only that 1 PSU error so i believe a good first step would be changing the PSU and cabling. Not 100% though, thats the thing with this kinda issue.
  18. Thank you all. I will try a new PSU and hope for the best.
  19. Thank you both greatly. As i have mentioned i have done many, many tests to eliminate both hardware and software faults, and have only been able to identify that one PSU error. A bit stuck at this point and may have to replace the PSU as i have no other ideas. Hopefully it resolves the issue.
  20. Thank you both very much, super informative. The reason i ask is because i randomly have my PC completely freeze on me forcing me to force restart (no matter how long i wait for it), sometimes with a high pitched noise (once or twice), usually when playing games but has happened when doing simple web browsing or document work. I have run every hardware test possible, reinstalled windows on a brand new SSD, drivers all up to date etc. To only find one thing....OCCT application advising 1 error during a PSU test (https://imgur.com/a/otkfcdV) Although, OCCT doesnt advise what the error is........ So maybe im thinking this is where my problem lies? Perhaps a new PSU will eliminate my issue? I have been struggling to identify (over the last 2 years), where my problem lies? 21. Hi all, I was told "PSU's cant cause freezes". Basically advised a PSU either works or doesnt work, nothing in between. If the PC fires up and runs, PSU is fine. If it doesnt start at all, PSU is gone. Nothing in between that. Im not sure what to think of that? Whether this is true or not? Can a PSU really cause freezing randomly on the odd occasion if it has some fault? Or not? Interested to hear what people think & their views on this.
  22. Wow! You have put some time and effort into that, very much appreciated. Just to clear up about GPU usage, i have run many tests with GPU @ 100% on OCCT and other GPU tests but didn't post results because nothing showed up (should have mentioned that) so im pretty sure it isnt the GPU. The only piece of hardware that is showing any error or any signs of a problem is that error from the PSU test which now makes me think it is the PSU. FYI i have tested all components that i can except MOBO because i dont think its possible. BUT on another forum (Tom's hardware), a user advised that "PSU's cant cause freezes" which has thrown me off and in my head, taken me back to square 1. He basically advised a PSU either works or doesnt work, nothing in between. If the PC fires up and runs, PSU is fine. If it doesnt start at all, PSU is gone. Nothing in between that. Im not sure what to think of that and now im not sure what to do? Thanks again for your time and help with this.
  23. Interesting. Thanks for your input. Now im back atr square 1 if thats true.... I've tried 2 SSd's with fresh installs of windows 10 All drivers up to date Stress tested all hardware (except MOBO because how would i even do that) Not sure what else now......
  24. Very interesting observation. Desperate need of ideas haha Should i just be replacing the PSU? Perhaps all the cabling along with it? Any ideas?
