  1. I have tried this in a couple of games already and there is some stuttering and even some hanging that wasn't happening before. I feel like if I could free up some CPU resources I could hopefully get some of the frames the GPU is obviously more than capable of rendering but my CPU simply cannot keep up.
  2. Hello friends, I have a bit of an odd question. My notoriously stingy brother got me a 4080 Super for my upcoming birthday. He's not super techy but he knew he wanted the best for me and I love him for that. Unfortunately, I know I have a somewhat lacking system for this behemoth of a card. What I mean by that is that I feel like it's gonna be held back by my Ryzen 5 5600x. Because I recently fell into hard times I won't be able to upgrade my PC anytime soon and returning the graphics card would be an affront to my brother who already RARELY spends ANY money at all. So my question is: How can I get the MOST out of this beefy boy when I game at 1080p? What settings should I avoid turning up? What are some basic tips for what effectively sums up to a CPU bottleneck? Games I typically play with my brother are Helldivers 2, Remnant 2, Apex Legends, Dying Light 2, WWZ, GTFO, and Monster Hunter World. Some of the games that I love to gawk at the visuals are Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, both Horizon Games, God of War, and Monster Hunter World. System Specs: Ryzen 5 5600x 16GB RAM 750w power supply
  3. I have 91% Isopropyl alcohol I have no idea what a conductive brush is. I planned on taking the cooler off to reapply thermal paste anyways so I guess now's the time to do so huh?
  4. Upon inspection the only place of entry would be a missing expansion slot covers. He said he didn't need his Wireless Adapter anymore so he took it out and left the slot wide open I guess...
  5. Hey all! In October my brother in law's house was infested with rats due to a neighbor gassing his house and I suppose the rats/mice found refuge in his house. Long story short some of the rats made it into his house and even worse into his PC. Upon my inspection they didn't chew any cables but instead made a little nest near the PSU and used the PCB of the GPU as their restroom... There are small dried puddles of urine and some solid waste on the PCB as well that have dried and crusted on to some traces and memory modules. I am looking to see what the best way to clean this card is and hope to save it. I hope it's not too dangerous or that the card isn't damaged beyond repair considering that the only symptom it is showing is artifacting. Any suggestions?
  6. How do I update my game to latest patch? I primarily use steam to updatey games. Are there extra steps?
  7. Guys i have finally done it. I'm not sure if this is a band aid solution but I will say it is a victory for me since I'm just barely getting into PC gaming and have little to no knowledge on how to do most of the stuff you guys have told me. So, what I did was I turned Vsync On [Off] by changing the .ini file I believe? (I opened up notepad and changed iPresentinterval=1 to 0) Then, after much reading online, I saw that the engine doesn't like to run at past 60fps. Thank you Bethesda? So ended up limiting my fps to 60 through MSI Afterburners Riva Tuner software... I can now run the game at Ultra with godrays turned down to low and no motion blur. Avg fps using the SAME area i did for the aforementioned fps is about 58. All that being said, I have no idea if what i did is detrimental to my game. I have no idea if its gonna ruin it. Please let me know of any issues you think this might cause. Ninja edit for correct notepad edit
  8. CPU usage looks normal not really going over 65% MOST of the time. There are like 2 second gaps that it hits 70 but not more. Do you believe that my ram is an issue even though i never had a problem with my 760? i mean same thing could be said about the cpu right?
  9. OK guys, so I benchmarked the card in some other games. ALL AT 1080p Tomb Raider(2013) FXAA ULTRA TressFx [On] Off Avg fps 58 Tress Fx On [Off] FXAA ULTRA Avg fps 78 Tress Fx On [Off] SSAA 2x Ultra Avg fps 68 Tress Fx On [Off] SSAA 4x Ultra Avg fps 52 Shadow of Mordor FXAA Ultra AVG fps 58 I'm on mobile right now so I can't link the MSI Afterburner gpu usage but for these benchmarks it was mostly 100% usage and not bouncing up and down.
  10. I've set everything to the lowest it will go, so medium for somethings and low for others.
  11. I see the GPU usage is all over the place. This was in the middle of a firefight under rainfall and my fps was all over the place as well. Could this really be as easy as disabling Vsync?
  12. This got out of hand quickly. I tried to see if I could replicate the problem by switching back to nvidia and that's not the case. I know for sure that it's not my psu since I know for a fact that this 380 is more efficient than my old ass 760. I got into the game andy frames came back up to an avg of 55. So aside from some of the negative attitudes towards team Green and Red, what are some SOLUTIONS to my problem if any? Or is my team red card just fucked in this game?

  14. Hey guys, I recently received as a gift a powercolor r9 380 4Gb graphics card as an upgrade to my gtx 760. I was super excited to try out my games on this shiny new card but was rather let down when i had WORSE frame rates than my gtx 760. I avg about 50 fps with most settings on high on Fallout 4 and only really dipping below 30 when i used a fat man danger close. with the r9 380 i avg 28 fps walking down a hallway with everything set on low and now AA, no AO, no Anisotropic Filtering, no god rays, all fade options set to lowest. this is driving me crazy because i know this card should be pulling at least 1.5x the workload of my 760. any tips or suggestions are welcome **CPU** | [intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor] **Motherboard** | [ASRock Z87 Pro3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard] **Memory** | [A-Data XPG V1.0 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory] **Storage** | [Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive] **Video Card** | [MSI GeForce GTX 760 2GB TWIN FROZR Video Card **Case** | [NZXT Phantom 410 (Gunmetal/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case] **Power Supply** | [Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply] this is my build with the 760 obviously replaced
  15. What kind of performance will he be getting out of this for his games?
