  1. Budget (including currency): ~$1200 USD Hey all, I'm building a computer for a friend to replace an old laptop that's dying, the goal is an all rounder PC that's capable of gaming, video editing, streaming, digital art (both 2D and CAD) and will last a decent while, or is easily upgraded. So far I've built this list: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor $158.97 @ Amazon Motherboard MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard $179.99 @ Newegg Memory G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory $77.99 @ Newegg Storage Crucial P1 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $104.99 @ B&H Storage Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $54.99 @ Newegg Video Card MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6 GB GAMING X Video Card $289.99 @ B&H Case Corsair iCUE 220T RGB ATX Mid Tower Case $109.99 @ Newegg Power Supply Cooler Master MWE Gold 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply $119.99 @ Best Buy Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit $108.78 @ Other World Computing Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $1215.68 Mail-in rebates -$10.00 Total $1205.68 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-07-24 21:23 EDT-0400 Any input on better options or parts to avoid would be appreciated, looking to buy it within the week.
  2. This looks pretty solid, so most likely going to go with this. That makes a lot more sense then, good to know for the future, thanks! And thanks to all of you for the quick input, really helpful.
  3. As my old PC died, looking to replace it. Mainly used for gaming and streaming with 2/3 monitors, any input on optimizing would be helpful PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YnLm9J CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($179.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus - ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard ($119.99 @ Newegg) Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($95.98 @ Newegg) Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6 GB VENTUS XS OC Video Card ($279.99 @ Newegg) Case: Fractal Design - Define C ATX Mid Tower Case ($93.32 @ Walmart) Power Supply: Corsair - RMx (2018) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($73.98 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital - Blue 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($109.89 @ OutletPC) or Storage: Samsung - 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($263.69 @ Amazon) For these im wondering why the price is so different, as rating seem the same so wondering if theres a reason to go for the 970 evo? And with this CPU should i get a separate cooler? Or is the stock cooler good enough. Also getting a compatibility note that "When the M.2 slot is populated, two SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports are disabled." Is this something that is actually to consider? Or is it an issue that you'll hit only if you have enough to fill the slots?
  4. And that'll let me access the hd like normal? (Assuming its not completely wrecked)
  5. Ok, is there a good guide on how to go about that? Never really messed with Linux before
  6. Tried to and it wouldn't let me, says it was locked and when I tried to unlock it it didn't exist What would the Linux pendrive let me do? Access files or?
  7. PC crashed while playing games, upon rebooting it started scan+repairing my C drive (SSD), froze then crashed again and gave me an NTFS error. I tried to reinstall Windows on my second hd (HDD) but it wouldn't let me saying it was the wrong partition type. Also it didn't find Windows installed on either hd to repair from Computer was old and I was in the market for a new one anyways, but I'm wondering if 1-my hard drives are corrupt 2-if they are, is there any way to salvage the data 3-if not, how would I access them from this or a potential new system PC specs (unsure if needed) CPU- i5-3570 @3.4GHz RAM- 8 Gb DDR3 GPU-Nvidia 640Ti PSU-Thermaltake 600W MoBo- Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H SSD-1 Tb Samsung 850 evo HDD- 1Tb WD Blue
  8. Alright I'll look into those, thanks a bunch everyone
  9. Unfortunately none nearby, but given that most of these parts are about 6y old I might as well upgrade. Is the RX 470/570 on par with the 640Ti I have or more comparable to a 970/1070? And would this psu cause issues? or should i upgrade this as well?
  10. Like title says, my pc is crashing and rebooting randomly during games (WoW, Overwatch, Ark, even Gungeon and Slime Rancher) Settings for all on low, all drivers are updated Happens after a couple hours of gaming, or right out of booting, regardless of programs running in the background or only the game open. Sometimes after rebooting it'll freeze and I'll get this green loading screen until I kill the power Looking for a fix or which parts I'll need to replace, thanks PC CPU- i5-3570 @3.4GHz RAM- 8 Gb DDR3 GPU-Nvidia 640Ti PSU-Thermaltake 600W MoBo- Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H
