I dunno if this has been asked, but let's say I have a z790 Strix E-Gaming 2 MB and a Strix 4090, will my older EKWB riser kit and (probably) PCI-e 3.0, riser cable impact performance? (Do cables even have a difference between 3.0 and 4.0 for real or is it sales fluff?)

Bump No one knows anything?

I get low FPS after waking or restarting the computer. I have to reinstall the driver for the FPS to go back to normal. Anyone else have this issue? Happens with multiple versions of the driver, both Gaming and Studio versions. One example is Monster Hunter World, low is about 30 FPS, after reinstalling it goes back to 80 FPS. Doesn't have the rad support. And it's pretty close to the Master case I have.

Gaming pc for college student- Please help
KaineT replied to Boqor-'s topic in New Builds and Planning
Fair point. Admittedly I'm probably biased. TBH my personal experiences with the few AMD stuff over the years may have bLNot have been the best though. My last experience was with the Radeon 6990 HD. That thing ran at 90°c at while playing Guild Wars 2. At first I thought there was something wrong with the card, but after RMA-ing two other 6990s with no changes in overall temps (stock cooler/fans). The reseller agreed to let me swap to a GTX 590. Temps.dropped to 65-70°c at load. I won't bring up my bad experiences with the AMD CPUs I've used previously as I cannot remember the exact chips I owned. -
I considered that too... I may use that as a last resort... I know it's limited, which is frustrating. I was very sad to hear Case Labs has closed down...

Of course it's a broad generalisation... But: -
I considered the O11, but the glass panel(s) are on the left... And it's not totally true, as mentioned, the Dark Base 900 supports 420 top and front.

This might stir up a hornets' nest, but I generally prefer Intel over AMD, I find AMD components (CPUs/GPUs) generate much more heat. If you're willing to spend a little more maybe switch to an Intel MB/CPU bundle. -
I currently have a Coolermaster MasterCase 5 with a custom loop built into it and am thinking of transplanting my system into a larger case partly for more room and for future upgrades and expansion. I've done some research and initially I was keen on the Phanteks Enthoo 719/Luxe 2 but I discovered it only supports a 360 rad in the top. Plus I also am looking to do an inverted build so I can actually show off my case on the "left side of my desk" meaning a TG panel on the right side of the case with a vertical built-in GPU mount like the 719 which doesn't take up the other PCI-E slots as I have a sound card and in future I may want to add another GPU to link. Which I cannot seem to find. The closest I've come is the Be Quiet Dark Base 900, which I'll have to mod to add a vertical mount. Any one can recommend cases with this criteria? 420 front an top rad/fan support right side TG panel with vertical GPU mount.
-
Can the fans be installed on top? Like in the space above the case "celing"? I'm Guessing not...
-
Thank you!
-
Rad is 30mm thick, I'm asking based on this: From GGF Events' Video. I reckoned i might be able to squeeze in the 30 mm thick rad... With just enough clearance for the RAM, till i change the top rad to a 360 in future.
-
So will it work or is that a hard no?
-
Thanks for the quick reply! Haha I don't really have a choice my current space doesn't allow for me to have it on my desk...
