  1. Hey guys, I have a HyperX alloy elite and a few days ago I noticed that some keys are not illuminated anymore. These keys are "e, r, t, z, u, 1, <, F4" (german layout). I opened the keyboard up and checked for any obvious hardware faults, but didnt find anything. I also desoldered one of the LEDs and checked it, its working fine. I tried the "software reset", but this also didnt change the behaviour. Do you know, if there are SMD components on the side of the PCB, that is only visible, if I remove all the keys? I also heard about reflashing the firmware, but couldnt find it online. Any help (or schematic) would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
  2. Isnt a 3080 a little overkill for 1080p?
  3. Can you explain why this is obvious? From what I see, the cards perform about the same and the 6700xt costs a little more, at least used.
  4. @Eigenvektor I should have mentioned that I plan on buying used. The 3070 is roughly between 250 and 300€. A new RTX 4060 ti starts at 400€ and this is also with just 8Gb.
  5. Hey guys, I am thinking of upgrading my GTX 1070 to a RTX 3070. I in 1080p at 144Hz. The 1070 is mostly fine, but struggles a bit in ARK SE. I would be getting the 3070 used. What would be a reasonable price for a 3070 in Germany? Alternatively, would you suggest a different card? I would likely need to upgrade my PSU as its only 400W and thats already faily little with a 1070 and a R9 5900x. What wattage would you recommend here? Thanks for your help
  6. If you are only gaming, get a 5800xed instead of the 5900x. Its better in gaming as thats what its made for. That being said, I think I would try the 3600 first. It should be comparable to the 9700 from what I found online. As for the GPU, I dont know the game, but I do know that the current gen from nvidia is not very popular. I would maybe go with a used last gen card (if you are ok with that) and save a bit of money as well, or an AMD card. As for your PSU, the 3600 doesnt need a whole lot of power, 65W iirc. After the other components you should still have more than 500W for the GPU. This wont be enough for a top tier card, but it might be enough for one step below that.
  7. Hey guys, every time a friend starts to play a video on his PC, his screen flashes green for about a second. After that, the video plays normally. I suggested him DDU, but that didnt fix the problem. My next guess is, that the GPU is on its last leg. Its a 1660. Do you have a different oppinion? Thanks for your help
  8. Thanks guys, will get 2 more sticks of 8GB then
  9. Also, I am using a X370 SLI Plus from MSI, so I doubt the board is good for really high end memory
  10. Hey guys, I have 16GB of DDR4 3600 CL18 in my system. My CPU is a 5900x, GPU a 1070. I have found, that I am fairly low on memory, depending on the Games I play / workloads I run. I would like to upgrade to 32GB. Would you recommend me to get another 2 sticks of 8GB 3600 CL18 and run 4 sticks or would I be noticeably better off, buying 2 Sticks of 16GB RAM with tighter timings? I know that Zen really likes fast memory with tight timings, I just dont know, if its worth it to scrap my RAM and get faster one. Thanks for your help
  11. If the choice is between the 5600x and 5700x, I think I would pick the 5700x. Where I live, the 5700x is only 20€ more, but it might be different for you. The lower base clock should not make a difference IMO.
  12. I tried enabling eco mode, but that doesnt really make a difference. Even with all autostart programs killed, the PC still draws 100W from the wall on the desktop.
  13. I just looked into HWINFO64 and it claims, that the CPU is drawing about 80W at "idle", so its the bulk of the problem I am using curve optimizer. Is there any improvement with clasical undervolting?
  14. Hey guys, I just measured the amount of power, that my pc draws from the wall while sitting at idle at the desktop. Its about 110W. My CPU is a 5900x and my GPU a gtx 1070. I run a custom water cooling loop. Is there a way to reduce the idle power consumption? I am running the windows balanced power setting for ryzen, which came with the chipset driver. Thanks for your help
  15. Not really a fan of how this cooler looks... I just configured a build with a 5800x3d instead of the 7800x3d and got a 6950xt instead. I think it could be better for gaming
  16. Thanks, this is what I was thinking.
  17. Budget (including currency): 1500€ Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming at 1080p Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hey guys, I am unsure, which CPU and plattfrom I should pick for this price range. On the one hand, am4 with 5800X3D is still a great performer, on the other, AM4 has no more upgrades ahead, which makes AM5 and current Intel look better. What would you chose? Thanks for your help
  18. What games are you playing and at which resolution? 5%CPUs does seem a little low
  19. I cant find any measurements for it online. Do you know, where I can find it? I was also thinking of using a beQuiet pure rock 2 and just cut down the cold plate on the side of the heat pipes. I looked up online and the heat pipes are 6mm in diameter. If I cut down the aluminium on the sites, it should fit.
  20. Ok, then I dont really have a different option. Thanks for the info
  21. Hey guys, I want to try mounting an air cooler to my framework mainboard. The problem is, that I dont have much space, as the CPU sits below some SMD components. So I either have to use a copper shim (less performance) or I need a cooler, which is smaller than 32mm on the coldplate. It doesnt have to be a square, it can be a rectangle. I should be fine with 32x <50mm Do you know such a cooler? A third option might be to modify a air cooler with a bigger cold plate, but I would prefer one that is already fitting.
  22. Maybe WebDev just isnt for you? I am also nearly done with my bachelor in CS and I really dont like anything with WebDev. Maybe go to a different direction like Java, or C I really like IoT and microcontrollers but I am dreadful with html, css and js. Also, afaik its fairly common to google a lot of stuff while coding. When I am developing in java, I usually have the API open in a browser tab. Sure, you have to know some basic stuff (arrays, variables, the logic of the language,..) but for everything else, just google it and dont worry so much. These languages are so complex, learning everything by heart would be IMO a waste of time.
  23. I would get a bigger PSU. Something like 850W. I wouldnt worry about M.2 directly to the CPU vs over the chipset, but you could also just skip the 500GB ssd and connect the 2tb one to the CPU. As for GPU, I think the 3070 is a little overkill for 1080p, but maybe its worth it for video editing (no experience here)
  24. I wouldnt worry about it. As long as it performs ok and the temps are fine, it should be good
