  1. Just an update, I decided to with G.Skill Trident Z Black/White 32GB DDR4 3600MHz CL17 Dual Channel Kit. Thank you @martward!
  2. The GPU is there just to support 2 x 4K displays. I cannot find any better memory in stock at the local stores. I would appreciate if you could recommend me some better memory (I guess 3600MHz?)
  3. Oh, sorry, should have mentioned this. I will be using my computer mostly for programming (web development especially).
  4. Hello, I just ordered parts for my new workstation (programming, web development) and I still have a chance to do some last minute changes before assembling everything. What do you think of my build? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tVnk6R PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor ($499.99 @ Best Buy) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler ($89.90 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming ATX AM4 Motherboard ($315.99 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($154.90 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($89.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($39.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($39.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: Asus Radeon RX 590 8 GB STRIX GAMING Video Card ($299.99 @ B&H) Case: Fractal Design Define R6 USB-C Blackout ATX Mid Tower Case ($158.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Platinum 750 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($129.99 @ B&H) Total: $1819.72 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-11-15 11:13 EST-0500
  5. Woah, that's a great point, thanks! I just thought that I would pick a random one at the end. That one looks good, thank you for the recommendations!
  6. Considering that I will run several virtual machines, I would like to keep my options open regarding how much RAM in can stuff in there. The shop where I plan to do all my shopping has pretty much the same price for 4x8GB vs 2x16GB (20$ difference).
  7. Great explanation. I think I will go with 1TB SSD.
  8. Thank you for your excellent suggestions. To be honest, I really do not mind paying a little more even if the improvement is only 25%, especially considering that I probably will not upgrade for a few years. I have been trying to find evidence for this, but I could not find anything. According to CPU UserBenchmark, i9-9900k is about 25% faster than Ryzen. According to SSD UserBenchmark it seems that the Samsung one is twice as fast. Also, I want the two separate HDDs to run in RAID 1 (for backup).
  9. Hello guys, I am planning to build a new workstation. I am planning to use it for programming, running a few virtual machines and maybe occasional gaming (I am not playing any games right now, but with such a powerful rig, I might). ;) Ideally, this would be a Hackintosh, but it is pretty difficult to get every component right which makes me think that I should drop this idea.
