Final answer: What is better Asus gtx 780 vs Vapor-x 290? (Voting)
ShadowofGhosts replied to a topic in Graphics Cards
The R9 290 has slightly better performance than the 780, and also has more VRAM for 1440p. However, if you can find a cheaper 780, buy the 780 as you don't loose much performance. -
What is the problem then? The fans do turn on for a second.
-
No lol that was from a long time ago. I already replaced it a few months ago, but now I suppose it might be failing again D:
-
After a lot of good times and no failures to turn on, my computer failing to turn on problem has struck again. This time, I seriously don't know what the hell is happening. The case fan powers on for one second, and I can hear the first second of the computer turning on, and then nothing happens. Please help. Thanks

The best Non-reference GeForce GTX 760 , What is it?
ShadowofGhosts replied to HeyImJazz's topic in Graphics Cards
Get the 760 HAWK, I have a friend who has that GPU, and its great. -
The Titan Z, a worthless piece of crap.
-
An FX 4300 is fine for now, but will be a problem in the future as games such as Watch Dogs and BF4 do take advantage of AMD's 6 and 8 Cores. Eventually, Intel will also come on board with 6 and 8 core CPUs, and most games will use 6 and 8 Cores. For the sake of future-proofing, spend the extra $10 and get the FX 6300.
-
2x 780 is the way to go, (almost) Titan Z performance for a Titan Black's price.
-
Not that much, the i3 is good in Single Core gaming, but in the future, as games move onto 4, 6 and 8 Cores, a FX 6300 would be a better choice, and the i3 will begin to really bottleneck. I don't suggest the i3 for the long term, but if you're going to buy the i3 first, and then an i5 later on, go ahead, but if you're going to use this CPU for even two years, you are going to see some issues (Watch Dogs is going to be using 8 Cores (recommended CPU is FX 8350), BF4 can use 8 Cores)

R9 270x in crossfire better than a single R9 290x?
ShadowofGhosts replied to Ashwin's topic in Graphics Cards
It would run pretty well, but not as well as a 290X as you only have a 256 Bit Memory bus, and bad bandwidth for 5.6 Billion Transistors. If you are up for it, get a R9 290, it should be around the same as 2x 270X with today's inflated prices. -
This is what I would suggest: PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3qOx7 Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3qOx7/by_merchant/ Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3qOx7/benchmarks/ CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($179.00 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($73.98 @ OutletPC) Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($71.10 @ Newegg) Storage: Seagate 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($83.23 @ OutletPC) Storage: Seagate 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($83.23 @ OutletPC) Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 290X 4GB Video Card (2-Way CrossFire) ($559.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 290X 4GB Video Card (2-Way CrossFire) ($559.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Cooler Master Silent Pro M 1000W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($156.99 @ SuperBiiz) Optical Drive: Asus BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer ($59.98 @ OutletPC) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($89.98 @ OutletPC) Monitor: BenQ GW2750HM 27.0" Monitor ($179.99 @ Newegg) Total: $2127.44 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-04-13 00:45 EDT-0400) The Hyper 212 Evo will give you some OC Headroom, and would mitigate the Bottleneck (just OC the 8350 to around 4.4GHz). This would also run very well on BF4 due to Mantle and AMD Optimization. The System will also run cool due to a custom cooler, which kicks the ass of the reference cooler. The 290X is also faster than the 780. Note: I didn't add a Case as I have no idea what you/your friend will like.

AMD Pirate Islands Discussion Thread
ShadowofGhosts replied to ShadowofGhosts's topic in Graphics Cards
I don't think that AMD will die anytime soon, all three major consoles have AMD in them, and other than the Wii U, they are selling pretty well, and it is rumored that Nintendo is going to make a Wii Fusion thing, which is rumored to also have an AMD GPU Although Cryptomining has calmed, it is still a thing and miners are still buying R9 GPUs, and their lower price to Nvidia Counterparts will still result in good sales. -
I know, I know, Pirate Islands is a year away, but that doesn't forbid us from discussing and predicting what might be in AMD Pirate Islands. So, what do all of ya predict will be in Pirate Islands? My Predictions:

Possibility of GTX 800 launching on 28nm?
ShadowofGhosts replied to kungfury7's topic in Graphics Cards
It is possible. After all, they're able to shrink a 60W TDP and R7 260X performance on a 28nm GTX 750, so it is possible that they could release a 28nm Maxwell, but I doubt it, as its been two years since we got a die shrink, I think some people are dying for one right now. If they can't get 20nm until 2015, then Nvidia can simply delay Maxwell until 2015, as it won't do harm because Pirate Islands is coming out in 2015.
