  1. When comparing hardware, I always use https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/ and https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ They will tell you performance rankings as well as prices of the hardware.
  2. Hey guys, Goldglove made this video a while back about his 2 PC setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDPbA5O9THA However the stream PC has no GPU. My question is, how is it possible to have a quality stream without a GPU. Even with x264 (cpu) encoding, i am reading online that a GPU is still required. For example, I have an AMD 8350 and no GPU in the stream PC. I can stream as well but i max out at ~20fps. Other than the fact he is using an Intel cpu and I am using AMD, I am wondering the the main difference is here. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
  3. I guess im just a little confused as to why a GPU would be needed if the CPU can just do all the encoding on the 2nd PC.Because right now, I can connect a monitor to the 2nd PC and still get a display. It uses ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics but I most certainly cannot use that to render a thing. I was using this tutorial : https://help.twitch.tv/customer/portal/articles/1988680-broadcasting-with-two-computers and I was hoping I could just do that same thingm just without a GPU on the streaming PC since I want to do x264 encoding.
  4. Well, when I used Linux with ffmpeg, the FX8350 pretty much did everything and no GPU was installed.. Is there a way to do the same thing using windows sans GPU? As far as i know I do have the components needed.
  5. Hello Everyone! So I have a dilemma regarding choosing the best option for a 2 pc stream setup or just sticking to 1 device. Gaming PC: Intel i7 4790K NVidia GTX 970 32GB RAM Potential Stream PC: AMD 8350 Avermedia Capture Card No GPU (Spare Radeon 7970 can be installed) Internet Speed: Up 25mbps Down 400mbps I have to say that I recently learned that OBS allows you to use Two-pass encoding with NVENC which apparently makes the stream look every bit as good as x264 (CPU rendering). However, I have always wanted to do a 2 PC setup given that you can independently control audio and if your game goes down, your stream will stay up. What I am looking for are the different options for a 2 PC setup to get the best picture quality stream given the hardware I have. I have done this using Linux which worked great but i prefer to use windows on the 2nd PC to possibly move my audio and tools over and just leave the gaming PC for just that....gaming. I am not sure If I can use the Radeon 7970 for rendering so I am not sure of any options there. But I do know that I can do x264 and use the 8350 but then that would likely max out the CPU depending on the CPU preset I use which would leave me with no room to handle my Audio. For Audio I use Adobe Audition as my mixer and Compressor. Voice sounds great but its a little bit of a CPU hog. Another option I though of is maybe add my 7970 to my gaming rig but then I would lose out on good quality video settings in games. Can anyone come up with any options either with or without the Radeon GPU or would it be best to just stick to the one PC streaming and use NVENC with Two-Pass encoding? Im not sure if I am leaving out any important info but any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  6. UPDATE: So i did some more digging and am going to use SyncToy and the task scheduler combo.
  7. UPDATE: Im considering http://www.backupmaker.com/ as an option. Seems pretty cool. Any thoughts?
  8. Hey guys, Have been doing some searching and cant decide and would like some feedback (professional if possible). I have a 64GB SSD -- OS drive an old 300GB Seagate -- Everything else and a new 1TB WD -- Everything else and New stuff This rig is used for gaming primarily. Id like to set up some sort of automated backup solution that will auto backup anything new I install. I am seeing online that a RAID 1+0 may be best for performance and availability. But im unsure if this is too much for just a single user gaming rig. Id like to know if its better to have a RAID setup or if a backup application like SyncToy or something would be better for what im trying to achieve. Id like to avoid performance issues while playing games if possible. Id also like to avoid spending a lot of money. Thanks guys
  9. Hello, I know this is a bit old, but i thought id ask something about viable builds. Why do people play games where there are apparently only certain viable builds that makes a completely custom build nonviable? Is there not a game out there where you can make your character completely different than the others and it would still be considered a powerful build?
  10. I take it a Minecraft server would require a GPU of some kind. ill do some research on it
  11. Thanks guys, yea its dusty, i coulda cleaned it. I admit that lol. Minecraft server huh? Never thought of that...might give it a try
  12. Hello all, I apologize if im in the wrong thread here, but i have an original XboX made into a PC: http://s1294.photobucket.com/user/Blake_Devon_Moore/slideshow/xBox%20Comp Currently has no GPU (other than Intel HD), 320GB Laptop drive.4GB RAM, First Gen i5. Im trying to find some good uses for it. Some options were: 1) Media server (Plex, Peerblock, utorrent) 2) Steambox (need to purchase GPU) 3)Storage Before making my final decision, id like to know any other ideas anyone may have for something like this. Thank you, Blake
  13. Additionally, i assume i wont even appear on the roster until i complete a unit?
  14. Ohh, so when i see this http://snag.gy/PbjAf.jpg, cpu:3 represents the entire cpu (including cores) gpu:0 tahiti XT represents the GPU Seems simple enough. For some reason, i thought each CPU core needed its own slot as well. Thanks for clearing that up. Now this Visual effect of the Protein. Is this just for show? Maybe it looks different when you start compared to when a Work unit is finished.
  15. Hello, I think i just joined lol. Entered the team number, got my passkey and thats all she wrote. Im still researching this as im just learning about all of this. I have yet to find a decent tutorial on this but since im running a radeon hd 7970 and and i5 3570K, Shouldnt i see 4 cpu folding slots (4 cores) and 1 GPU slot? I want to maximize my efficiency when i start this. Thanks
