  1. hi i have a dell latitude e6420 with a nvidia nvs4200m and it has optimus capabilities... for windows 7, i updated it to windows 10 forever ago and now optimus wont work it just defaults me to intigrated graphics all the time, is there a way i can fix this. i was thinking of installing a lenovo laptop optimus driver that supports my gpu but that honestly sounds like a terrible idea now, what do i do?
  2. like if were talking about psu stuff, seasonic is one of the best for reliability arent they?
  3. oh i didnt read it right, i thought he was talking about whats more reliable, he said future proof so i thought he meant ones that wouldnt fail
  4. try using a adapter if your psu can take it
  5. true, this was more of a conversation starter/debate thread anyway, just wanted to see yalls opinions on the new cpus. i still think my ryzen 3700x is a blast, considering i switched from a core 2 quad q9650 before that
  6. mention the 2015 recall that macs had, the batteries would explode when charging (in some cases)
  7. So AMD just released their Zen 3 cpu lineup, as a 3700x owner i dont know how i should feel about this, dont get me wrong they are nice cpus but looking at specs, i just dont think its a drastic enough change to completely scrap my 3700x for a newer cpu. AMD is still on the 7nm architecture and they already gave us teasers for a 5nm in the future, so what do you think ryzen 3k owners? should we stick with our current cpus or should we switch for that small sliver of extra cpu performance for a bigger price tag.
  8. amazon surprisingly has a good amount of caps, if the text on the caps are still legible and you can see what type they are, you can get a pack from amazon for next to nothing, also im surprised the caps are poping like that, mine turns 10 this year and i haven't had those problems yet, best thing i can suggest if you dont want to put the work into re soldering all the caps is pick a used board up from ebay, 780 MT boards go for like 14$
  9. why not, OPTIPLEX THREAD, give the old pcs some love, show off the modifications you did or some neat tricks that you can do with them.
  10. so i have a hp litebook 840g5, 8th gen i7, 16gb single channel ram, and its a high end laptop, you would expect it to cool well right? IT DOESNT recently when my laptop is plugged in and turboboosting it can rest at 90C sometimes, i opened it up, dusted it, thermal paste was gooey and fine, i put it back together expecting a change, and its STILL resting at high temps, it helped a teeny but but come on, when unplugged temps are meh not as bad but didnt hp think of stuff like this?
  11. were the drivers from the official websites and not other ones
  12. your video card could be dying? make sure it isnt some mining malware first, they can take up your gpu
  13. oh yeah, some motherboards make you put the bios on a usb drive, plug it into your pc, go into the bios, and update from there.
  14. usually you let the update download then you restart your pc or it does it for you
  15. through control pannel, open that op and go to the uninstall a program shortcut, scroll down till you see your drivers because i bet they are still there
  16. i think you should try starting it up again with the radeon card, this time dont use ddu, look into the uninstall program list and look for the drivers, thats what i did on my optiplex 780 before i installed my 1650 and it worked also NP as a fellow dell user i have experience with troubleshooting with these old machines
  17. does the radeon still work when you plug it in?
  18. try unplugging the vid card, unplugging the machine, unplugg the cmos battery and drain the power from the board, plug everything back in after that boot it up and see if it works.
  19. how old is the wifi card? i had a laptop that had the same problem, i switched out the card and it worked fine after that, turns out after a certian ammount of time they can start going bad like any other computer component.
  20. have you tried updating the bios? side and unrelated note, you were using a 5450? worst card ever produced am i right
