Who knows. First test without it plugged in and see if the system gets to bios. If it does that is great and then you can try with the drive. If it doesn't then well yeah that is going to be a crapshow to diagnose what does and does not work. Also don't forget to rma your hx1000 platinum.
Is it still good to rma? Had it for about a year

Oh yeah you shorted the psu so that is probably dead dead. As for the system hope it is ok just DO NOT BOOT IT WITH THE CURRENT PSU. As for anything connected to the sata cable that is probably dead too so when the new system comes in do not plug any of that in whilst testing.
It is normally clearly in the manual to not use any cables but compatible ones.
Ok thanks for confirming that... I had a drive plugged in... is that toast?

So I recently rebuilt my system and I was missing a sata power cable. I, being the naive pc builder I am, plugged in an evga cord not knowing it mattered. I have a HX1000 Platinum and ever since I plugged in the cable my system powers up but doesn’t boot. Only the ram and motherboard lights would come on, nothing would spin and I’m lost on what to do. I haven’t tested the psu but I think I might’ve broken it... I ordered a new rm850 2019 or whatever but it hasn’t gotten here and I’m freaking out on what to do. My Asus Maximus 11 hero shows 00 on the g code readout and that doesn’t help me much. If anyone has an insight that would help. I have a 9700k, msi 3070, and asus mobo. Also a lot of cabling for my 8 ll120s and h100i and 4 rgb strips. Oh yeah, and I have cablemod cables.

I have one monitor, it says no signal when I turn the pc on. I took out the cmos battery for 30 minutes then put it back. @paddy-stone

Okay. It is an optiplex 3010, Core i5 3470, 4GB 1600mhz ram. No gpu. I reset the bios because there is a bios password I was trying to reset. @paddy-stone

I have a m1h61r mb dell motherboard. Recently I reset the bios and now I need to flash the bios onto the motherboard. It does not display anything on screen but it did before. How do I flash the bios on a motherboard that doesn’t have a flash bios button? And that doesn’t display to a monitor.

Also the pc doesn’t go to splash.

I recently was given a windows 7 pro dell optiplex 3010. It worked completely fine it just has a password on the account. I accessed the bios to reset the hard drive. To change the bios settings there is a password needed. I looked up how to reset this password and I found two things. I could either take out CMOS battery for 10-15 minutes or use the clear password jumper. I tried both and when I turn the computer on now their is a solid yellow light on the motherboard. Does anybody know what that means? How can I fix this?

I don't have the budget for a 4k 144hz monitor. Unless you know of one @Ansuex.
-
That's what I though. I gave a $500 budget and I wanted an Asus strix monitor but I just can't find an Asus WQHD monitor.

I am building a pc with an rtx 2080. I don't know what monitor to get. Is something like an FHD asus monitor with 240hz refresh rate, 1 ms response time, and g-sync. Or should get something like an acer predator WQHD 144hz, 1 ms, Freesync/G-sync monitor.
(Also, can't the 2080 take advantage of freesync?)

Alright thanks. I’ll just take my time.

I'll go the splitter route seeing as how I'm not paying for this PC. Thank you for answering my question though. I have been looking for an answer for a while.

I recently bought a Corsair SPEC-OMEGA RGB Newegg Edition. I have a total of 6 LL120 fans. The case comes with a 6 connector lighting node pro. I also have an RGB strip. Hw do I connect 6 fans rgb and an rgb strip to a 6 port hub? Do I get an rgb splitter or do I have to get a 2 port lighting node pro?

Thank you for these tips, I reduced my ram to 2 sticks of 8gb at 3200Mhz and I found a gigabyte windforce rtx 2080 for $700.
-
I can't fit that in my 3k budget

This is the general PCPP list.

Hello, I am new to pc building, I am building a $3,000 pc and I need some help. I don't know a good config for my pc. I already bought am Asus Rog Z390-E mobo, and I wanted t do some overclocking. Should I go with an I7-9700k and an RTX 2080, or an I9-9900k and an RTX 2070. I also was planning on putting 32Gb of 3000Mhz Vengeance RGB Pro ram in the system. Btw, this is going to be strictly for gaming.

Whats wrong with that motherboard

Im not planning a custom loop
