  1. It does. If you install Xcode you do get clang, but it's like an old version of C++. During my last lessons on Object Oriented Programming on university, I had a few issues on virtual functions, operator overload, and things like that. It was just a matter of downloading and setting up a newer version, but it was not an obvious thing. The errors were also referencing that I was on an ARM processor, and something was not able to get compiled.
  2. Python is very easy, C++ is a bit more tricky because you have to install compilers and set everything up, it's just not as simple as on Windows. I recall that when you make headers, I was using some specific features of a C++ version that did not install automatically. Again it's not the end of the world, I did get it working in the end. If you ever have any issues you could always hit me up.
  3. I'm thinking to pull double duty on it, but if I take that route, I will want to connect to it remotely and through VS Code use that machine, so I think it will be a lot of hassle. But yeah, it is something I'm considering, just seeing if there are other options worth checking out.
  4. I mean, that is an option, but I'm not considering to switch to Windows. I'd be making this program for someone else, so I'd just need to work on Windows stuff until I finish this project.
  5. I might have misunderstood you. Is this build for a Minecraft server only, or are you using it as a Minecraft PC and a server? If it's as a gaming PC, it's really good bang for the buck, but if it's only for a Minecraft server, you can find a 30 USD PC used online. Matter of fact I just bought one today.
  6. If given the opportunity, an Intel CPU can draw a ton of power. Limits can be set on BIOS or through the Intel program and it will be fine, I honestly don't think he will miss bursts of 140W if he is concerned.
  7. Still valid. That 200W is also for the 3060 ti, and it's the peak, so it will rarely hit that. I think with those components you have chosen, your PC might draw half of that 550W PSU.
  8. I got a M1 MacBook Air and I got an idea for a Windows program I'd like to develop. I've been thinking about using C++ since it's the one I'm most familiar with and the Internet says it's easy to build GUIs on it. However, Visual Studio 2022 for Mac does not have support for C++ projects, and that's as far as I know. Is there an easy way to create projects for Windows? All I want is something that will allow me to program a Windows app with GUI, no console project. I don't really care about the language, but I want to end up with a .exe. Maybe with a program like JetBrain's CLion, or maybe using Java, I honestly don't know. Any suggestions?
  9. What I like to do is add up the max power draw of the CPU and GPU combined, and then add 100W as good measure. The 3060 ti can peak to 200W and the i5 says 65W. I'd say it will be enough, usually I wouldn't trust Intel CPU's rated power draw but since it cannot be overclocked, it's gonna be fine.
  10. That ITX board looks great, but I don't think it will have as much power as you desire. I honestly think the M2 Mac Mini would be awesome. Of course, a lot of things depend on what you are willling to sacrifice, since both options you mention will have some drawbacks. Personally, I own an M1 MacBook Air and I love it, but it has given me a few headaches. For instance, if I want to work with C++, creating headers and compiling is a bit tricky. Also even though Apple Silicon has a lot of compatibility, there are still the occasional niche programs you can't run on ARM. All those issues can be relatively easy to solve with a free VM software like UTM, but it takes a lot of space, something you lack on the base model. I can only mention the drawbacks I've found on my machine, but I can also tell you it can be a great experience, I hope you find this helpful.
  11. There is a piece of software on a PC that has no info about it on the internet. We need to clone the drive, but seems like that software is locked to the specific drive or PC, I don't really know for sure. We have a theory that if we change the hard disk's serial number, it might work again. Note that I'm not talking about the volume's serial number, that one we know how to change. The hard disk's serial number is a longer string of characters and maybe numbers. Does anyone happen to know about a software where we can change that?
  12. How likely would it be that a virus corrupted the entire disc or something? I don't think I can even boot to BIOS, and turns out it has Windows 7. Even though it's an offline machine, I don't really trust WIndiws 7 due to its age. Btw this computer I was told it's being used on a factory, to monitor traffic of some AGVs (not too relevant, but the reason for using Windows 7 is because it was on 24/7 for about 5 years).
  13. Hey guys, I have a computer from my uncle that I'm trying to fix. So far what I've found is that the computer only beeps once every time I turn it on. It does not seem to post to bios or show any output. What is weird is that only one time, it did actually show something in the monitor, it was an attempt to do a safe boot, but it couldn't since "the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible" (0xc000000f). I can't seem to find what that would mean, does anyone happen to know where I could even begin to troubleshoot? I already reseated all cables but nothing works and I haven't found articles of much use. Edit: the mobo is a Gigabyte GA-H81M-H Rev 2.1
  14. Yeah well I know most people wouldn't consider it wrong, but since most of this services are "you own a license, not the content", that's where my question comes from. I'm just starting to build my movie collection so I only have like 4 movies bought. Wouldn't mind buying them again, as long as where I buy them, I can download them, you know, for personal use and move them from device to device. My example with Apple TV is that I cannot move them to a Windows or Android device, or a Plex server.
  15. Recently I came across LTT's video on how to setup a Plex server and rewatched (I watch the videos daily as if it was a religion). This time I got curious and started to wonder how I could put all my media on a drive. I watch almost exclusively movies I buy on iTunes, so no streaming services usually. I know that there is a download button on the Apple TV app but that would only work for my Mac and not for other devices. I don't know much about copyright and things like that, but my only purpose would be personal, to use MY bought content on Apple TV on MY devices. Now, question is: is it ok to look to download content that way? And if not, is there another store where I could download actual files? Again please keep in mind I have little to no knowledge about this topic, that's why I'm asking beforehand, thanks.
  16. I've done a full clone, and the thing with cmd is that I can't select the drive in diskutil. The only one that appears is the recovery media, not the ssd.
  17. Hi guys, looking for some advice on what to do next here. I'll try to simplify everything. • Objective: clone a 2.5 inch SSD from a Dell laptop to a M.2 SSD and put it on a Lenovo. Steps I've taken: 1. I put these two drives on the Lenovo laptop and cloned them with Clonezilla. Cloning was successful. 2. Take out the 2.5 inch SSD. Try to boot, but message appears: "default boot device missing or boot failed". I checked on BIOS and the drive shows up, so the computer does not detect a Windows installation. 3. I connected a Windows Recovery Media to try and fix boot files as recommended in some articles, but bootrec.exe /fixboot says "access denied". From that point there are help articles but they assume you can see the disk. I've also come to realize, the Desktop folder happened to be encrypted before cloning, and I suspect that's the main problem. I could clone it again once I decrypt the file but that would be in a few days from now, so I'd like to ask if anyone could confirm if this is the case, so I can stop looking for another solution. Thanks in advance!
  18. Your safest option is Logitech. They are one of, if not the biggest brand in computer accessories, and therefore have the best support. They also make really great keyboards. I personally have a Logitech G Pro keyboard that's over 2 years old at this point and it is still rock solid, not a single defect. Some other options I've heard good reviews from are Corsair and Keychron, but I don't have any personal experience with them. Still, they make good keyboards.
  19. I agree with this. In Computer Science you will not carry many books, and a thin and light laptop will feel great. I personally use an M1 MacBook Air (base model) and have never had an issue, even with my 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. However, you might prefer to go at least for double of both, just to future-proof your purchase. I could recommend you look at a Mac since they are great at software development, but there could be some drawbacks depending on what to do, specially if you game. The only game I can comfortably run is Minecraft. For Windows laptops, names that come to mind are Microsoft Surface Laptop, Dell XPS, and HP Envy. Dell and HP have tons of models, so as long as you match the specs you want and it has that name, you are getting good machines. From my point of view, thin and light laptops have a lot more benefits. However, that is my opinion since I don't really game much. But I'd be happy to further help you if you'd like.
  20. Yeah, I know it would take longer, but even then, I'd like to just know about software like this, because every once in a while I could do these kinds of things.
  21. Have you tried checking if it's seated properly? Let me bully my own career, IT people usually just reinstall a device and most of the time it works. Your drive will not boot into Windows because the computer does not see it, so it's not a Windows problem. You could also try to install it in another slot if your board has another slot.
  22. Hi guys, I'd like to ask for a bit of helo in finding a software. I have an HDD with Windows on it and want to clone it to a new SSD I got. Doing this for a friend of mine because I'm a bit familiar with doing this, but his laptop is really slow, so I would like to do this process from my Mac (I have an M1 MacBook Air). Does anyone happen to know of a software to clone disks that would run in my Mac? Even if it's paid, as long as it has a trial I think I would be fine since it would be a one case use. Thanks in advance!
  23. Oh yeah I did put I use Ventura but in reality it is a problem everyone sees with their mouse if it's not the Apple Magic Mouse. I have seen this issue since I got my Mac with macOS Big Sur, but since I was out on school most of the time it didn't affect me, until now.
  24. I have had an M1 Macbook Air since it launched and enjoyed my time using it. However, I just got on vacations and I'm starting to use it more at home, where I can use my PC peripherals. I have a Logitech G203 but there are quite a few things that bother me with the mouse settings: Scrolling is synced between trackpad and mouse, so one of them is gonna feel unnatural for me. Same scrolling isn't smooth, I don't know if what I want is acceleration, but it's just skipping a lot on the screen. Sometimes it doesn't even go where I want it to go, if I scroll one way it seems to randomly go to the opposite direction. Overall these are just scrolling issues, no problems with tracking and buttons, but I can't find any program to fix these things, not even Logitech G HUB has any fixes. If you do find a program to help with these I'll be grateful. Thanks in advance!!!
  25. Man, there is something called personal preference, I would appreciate if you can guide me to where this message has been solved, because I can’t figure it out yet.
