thanks guys, awesome stuff!!! Whoo. if you guys are wondering, i'm trying to build a case that looks somewhat similar to this, but my take of it. It looks sick imo http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2008/12/chiaroscuro-by-nick-falzone/insp3s.jpg big.me

Hey, I'm building my own case mainly out of wood at the moment, and I was wondering if there are any 3.5" drivebays left on the market? I've been exhausting dr google for the last 1.5 hours trying to source a drive cage that would fit inside a computer so I can continue designing the case with the specs involved. I'm looking for a hdd/ssd drive rack that can fit around 4x 3.5" hdd/ssd. I saw one that came included with a fan and blah but I was wondering if there are any that just came like the ones inside a normal computer case? Hope someone here knows of some big.me

but this video though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbhPMe7T27Y wow. me want. speaking of which, the case is actually quite similar to my drawing haha!

I want the case too. Ended up spending an hour or so drawing this because I got frustrated in trying to source the 'case only'. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6ZeNhd-USnFVVJkR1FnX18tUlU0UVJ2cjN2NXJxcGl3V2pn/edit?usp=sharing awesome thing is that I can have a 650W PSU and a full length GPU. Time to get building with cardboard B) what do you guys think what about my 'drawing'? I do realise that i have far too many fans for what a normal m-itx board can support, need to take out around 2-3 fans, probably the 2x92mm fans.

I've been eyeballing this case since linus covered it in whatever tech expo it was, and I did some research tonight. Looks like you can fit an MSI 780OC (w/ TF cooling), but I'm just worried about . It says its around 400W for SYSTEM DRAW (running i7-2600K) in anandtech's review of the stock and overclockersclub's review of the MSI 780OC. Assuming that the PSU runs at 85% efficiency at 450W = 382.5W, you'd be able to run a 760 comfortably and if you're pushing it, a 770 if we get a 'gold rated' 450W, i.e. silverstone, it should be able to run at 90% efficiency = 410W. Which sounds about just right for a 780. Got the numbers from here, assuming that CPU is 84W TDP, and rest of system (mobo, hdd/ssd, odd, etc) is around 100W. What I'm really wondering is if the PSU can deliver enough amperes to the card and system. What do y'all think? The Amperes output of the PSU is this (got this from the PSU manufacturer website). Output Current: 20.0A @ +3.3V DC 22.0A @ +5V DC 16.0A @ +12V1 DC 16.0A @ +12V2 DC 0.5A @ -12V DC 2.5A @ +5Vsb DC Standby And i'm struggling to find a chart that describes the requirements of graphics card. All I can find is this , not sure what this means. Some explanation would be grand And also, does anyone know if it is possible to get the case only? I'm thinking of switching the mobo and/or PSU

well.. 2/3 people did recommend surface pro 2. Damn. Does nobody like android on a tablet?

I'm in the market for a laptop replacing tablet convertible. I'm currently thinking of the surface pro 2, Dell venue 11 pro, or the Asus transformer trio. I know the Asus addition seems wierd but i get how android is definitely more energy efficient in light entertainment tasks and that definitely attracts me to it. But I also like the productivity side of windows, not to mention running full x86 programs. So out of the 3, which one would you prefer and if you have alternatives thy you think are better, which one would you recommend? One last thing, I would prefer if i could have an I5 chip.

I used a strider with the normal (long) cable kit and it works perfectly! As long as its modular you'll be fine I think. Why don't you try to get the case without the Silverstone psu, and if you need it then get it!

Hey guys, Got really frustrated trying to find a small as possible mitx case for the upcoming rog impact (i know its not even out yet) so I decided to spend my whole sunday afternoon drawing a CAD drawing of what I would consider a good case. Unfortunately, I only used a 2D-only CAD, but I hope you guys get it. Let me explain all the different colours I used. White = Case + all the dimensions Dark blue = outline of the m-itx motherboard Lightblue = Random important bits of the motherboard to help you orientate yourself. Yellow = PCI-e + CPU socket. Bits that actually matter where they're located. (NOTE: that the CPU socket on the left is not where its meant to be. The one on the right should be more accurate.) Orange = Fans of different sizes, I tried to label them. (hint 100mm = 92mm fan - I didn't want to make my grid any smaller than 5mm!) Fans at the bottom of the case are exhausts, anything else are intakes. Green = the PSU. This is a standard ATX power supply though I did give it 190mm of room including space of the cables to bend and turn and whatnot. I based it on a silverstone strider series - figured that they're one of the smallest ATX power supplies. Also note that for both PSUs, its drawing air from the case to the outside (basically an exhaust) Pink/Purple = Hard drive cage. Yet again i gave it extra room so it includes space to bend and turn the cables RED = GPU... I made it so that even the largest of GPUs should fit quite comfortably in this. over 12" of room it should be ample. Hope you figured out by now that this GPU is a dual slot GPU. Who uses a single slot gpu these days... (sorry if I offend anyone :P ) The one on the left I was able to fit dual 120mm fans on the 'right' of the case. Maybe chance to fit a 240mm RAD? Who knows. Oh. forgot to mention that the 'left' of the case will mainly be mesh to allow gpu to draw air directly from outside of the case and exhaust it - hopefully keeping it cool. What do you guys think? I know that this isn't much smaller than the coolermaster elite 120, I did a calculation my smaller case is not smaller by much. (18,727,200mm^3 vs 19,921,680mm^3) but I think my design is better because it occupies a tiny amount of space on the desk.. unlike the elite 120. As you might've guessed, this is inspired by the silverstone FT-03 (mini), but there we go, this is my take on things. Just so you also know, I didn't look at any blu prints before doing this, I just started with a black screen with a million dots on it. hahaha. Drawbacks about the case I've already noticed... I/O port and GPU I/O faces up :( I can't think of a way of minimising footprint without rotating the motherboard.. maybe riser card for the GPU? but I dont' like those things. Please give me some feedback so that I could try to improve the design. I know that it won't go into production or something but its something for me to make my brain go in circlessss. I could leave the actual draftsight file (.dwg) as an attachment for those who wants to play around with it! Hope you enjoy this and please leave a comment whether you like it or not!! Cheers, big.me

hey, when my fan idles at low rpm - no idea how to check what 'low' is, there's this weird noise that the fan makes, nothing that seems to be damaging the fan in anyway to the best of my knowledge. to imagine what it sounds like, imagine a small plastic bit on the fan that brushes past another small plastic bit on the frame every time it rotates. sounds kind of like that. probably not the best explanation, but is there anyway to fix it? my case is pretty quiet apart from that and it drives me nuts. cheers guys big.me

Silverstone SG09 or the FT03 pretty awesome stuff. Too bad bitpheonix doesn't make a prodigy that fits an matx board... they only ahve to make the case every so slightly wider! frustrating.
